Summary: ZUG ZUG! Forget about negative reviews on Beta testers.
Review: Unbelievable! Folks, this here is definitely a classic for years to come. When I first played the Warcraft series (Warcraft II), I thought ' Hey, this is an awesome game'. Then Blizzard came out with Starcraft and I was skeptical at first. I couldn't believe they would be able to surpass Warcraft II. Next, Starcraft became religion to me. Well folks, I decided to trust my instincts and go with Warcraft III (I bought the collectors edition-well worth the money) and I can't believe they've done it again. There are so many elements in the game that you will discover each race is an entirely new game, strategy, etc. I like the addition of the Heroes. It makes for a wild card in the game. Unbelivable story line. Sweet concept of zooming in to view the detail of the map. Overall, I'm thrilled to be living in this time period!!! ZUG ZUG!

Review: I was a HUGE fan of WarCraft I when it came out. Blizzard proved through the years, with WarCraft II, StarCraft and other games, that they listened to feedback well, and could craft a great gaming experience. That's why, when WarCraft III kept getting delayed, I knew it would be well worth the wait.

It definitely is! Blizzard had hoped to combine the fun of strategy gaming with the personality of RPGs. They did this very nicely, with stunning graphics and sound that really draw you into the action.

First, the strategy. WarCraft III has all the traditional elements - mining for gold, chopping down trees, building houses and barracks and so on. You have to manage your resources wisely and construct your force to meet the mission at hand - whether it's a long trek across unknown terrain or the defense of a town.

Next, there's the role-playing. We're not talking EverQuest level RPG, but more a 'personalization' of the troops. Instead of having just a mindless horde of 3 type As plus 8 type Bs going into battle, you have Jaina, the young spellcaster who is on a mission. Or you have Arthas, the paladin who hopes to keep back the tide of attackers. The Heroes have special abilities, can gain strength and powers as they go. It gives you extra incentive to hunt out those special extra missions, to build up your heroes so they are even more powerful in subsequent levels.

Finally, there are the stunning graphics. Sure, graphics aren't everything. But when a game is fun to start with and then has gorgeous cut-scenes with dandelion fluff floating across rippling meadows, and birds with feathers that rustle in the wind, you really get drawn into the world. You start to care about the interaction of the various groups, and as they talk about their concerns and fight with their enemies, you begin to root for them.

Even beyond that, the multiplayer and custom game capabilities make this a game you'll play for months after you exhaust every built in campagaign.

Highly, highly recommended for any computer gaming fan!

Summary: Good game, but nearly a year too late
Review: The gaming community has been waiting for this game for a long time. Warcraft 3 was supposed to be a major step forward in the development of RTS games, combining RTS with strong roleplaying elements. Does WC3 deliver what the developers has promised? Well... not really.

The good: WC3 is a great solid RTS game with a good single-player campaign and a sufficiently interesting story. It was obviously well-tested before the release, as the game seems to be quite bug-free (which is a rather rare thing nowadays).

The bad: Warcraft 3 simply does not deliver what it promised. It is not a big step forward. It simply comes about a year too late for that. Anyone who has ever played the game "Battle Realms" will be amazed, no, even appalled at how similar Warcraft 3 is to Battle Realms to the extent that one could call WC3 a "Battle Realms clone". Both games feature four distinct races, similar 3D graphics (though the graphics in Battle Realms are better, in my opinion) and the ability to summon heroes. WC3 makes a bit more use of these heroes, but they are still very limited, as they simply vanish after a while during the campaign (if a character gets carried over from one race's campaign into the other, it restarts at level 1 without any of its items), can not get past level 10 and can only carry 6 items with them - not too much of a roleplaying component there.

Other problems in WC3: The graphics look terribly cartoonish at times, as especially the heroes hop around in a really weird manner (if you have ever played "Freedom Force", you know what I mean - though there, the cartoonish aspect is fully intentional!). One wonders why WC3 has to use 3D graphics, as the game does not actually allow the player to rotate the screen permanently or to zoom in or out - a waste of processing power. Also, units very often block each other (unlike in most other modern RTS games, units don't get out of each other's way). The skirmish mode is extremely hard, especially for new players - the lack of a difficulty setting for the skirmish mode is hard to understand.

Another thing that makes me cringe is how WC3 copies Starcraft from specific game concepts for different races down to actually taking over speech lines directly from Starcraft. Copying concepts from one of your own games is no problem - but the original is usually better than the copy, and like I said, WC3 was supposed to be something fresh and new - that's why we all waited impatiently for such a long time.

So is this a good RTS game? Yes. Is the RPG component fun? Yes, for a while. Is it worth its rather high introductory price? Certainly not, as there are other games which provide similar, more innovative gameplay at a lower price. Is it really a step forward in RTS gaming? Definitely not!

Review: OMG this is the freakin best game i have ever played! I seriously doubt that new games coming in the next two years will be able to beat it's fantastic graphics, storyline, characters and units, etc. Also the cool secrets (i'll hint one: think hydralisk) are awesome. It's a keeper!

Review: In words, I have no idea how to express how superb this game is. Warcraft III: Reign of Chaos, is not your average game. It is both an RTS (real-time strategy) and an RPG (role-playing game)game. There are four unique races; the humans, orcs, night elves, and the undead. You will have to master these races in order to survive. To succeed, you must create highly-trained warriors, destructing heros, plan out crucial attacks on your enemies, just to survive. Like I said, it has RTS and RPG game types combined, basicly StarCraft meeting Diablo (think someone mentioned that earlier, sorry). Even though I mostly play multiplayer, the single player is just great to start on once you get the game! For those of you who just can't stand multiplayer, and simply love those single player stories and enjoy a challenge, or for just you people with really bad internet connections, Warcraft III is perfect for you. It has an immense storyline with in-game cinemetics so you don't have to waste your time reading briefings, full magical quests, optional mission objectives, and great graphics and gameplay. Now, time to talk about multiplayer capability. Warcraft III has multiplayer capability, that means you can play online with your friends, or people you don't know. You can battle on Blizzard's enhanced Battle.net, which is a match-making multiplayer service, so you can have insane chaos battles. The game can get a little laggy if you have a bad a connection, or playing with people who have bad connections. I have a cable modem and I mostly have a 1on1 battle with my best friend, who he has 56k internet connection, but is getting a cable modem soon. Anyway, the multiplayer is just fantastic. You can trade resources with your teamates, have tough computers on your team, cast magical spells to attack or defend yourself using heros, just about anything you can think of you would expect from Warcraft III: Reign of Chaos. Well, I don't want to bore you with this review, and I provided as much information as I possibly could. The bottom line is, Warcraft III: Reign of Chaos is the best game from Blizzard in my opinion, great single player campaigns and awesome multiplayer chaos on Blizzard's new enhanced Battle.net. If you have a pentium III or pentium 4, or higher, I suggest you get Warcraft III: Reign of Chaos. Even if you don't really prefer RTS and RPG type games, trust me, you'll have a great time with this.

Summary: Much like Starcraft but then...Not..
Review: This game is ALOT of fun. If you are the kinda person who only likes Starcraft and don't like the Warcraft series much, then READ THIS, uh...Article/review thingy I'm writing and then make your choice if you want this game or not. And if your the 'Warcraft only' kinda person, then you pay attention too, 'cause theres a buncha stuff from Starcraft AND the Old Warcrafts in here:
#1: The Undead side summon in their buildings JUST like Protoss did. #2: The Orges from the normal Warcrafts are in here, but their wild, and not exclusive the Orcs like they were. #3: Remember the 'True line of sight' from Starcraft? Well it's back and improved, and it makes it much more fun.
And theres a day and night cycle thrown in there too, but Blizzard made the day be too short and the night too long.
Oh, Did I mention the different Neutral buildings? Things like mercenary camps, Goblin inventors, Goblin Merchants, And they all give you special Stuff from each. You can hire mercenary Orges, Goblin Sappers, Goblin Huntresses,(Gosh, there's alotta Goblins!) And others I can't even think of right now! Oh yeah, and the Heroes! Their REALLY cool, But only when they get to level three and above. It's not like Starcraft how you get Kerrigan or somebody and their already practically invincible! But anyway, theres lots of stuff from Starcraft in this game. Oh, and if your not comfortable with letting your kids play the Undead side then go and buy Starcraft and let them play as Zurg. I guarentee that you won't be so grossed by the undead as you had been. Think of it like this:
Undead: A pile of dry bones.
Zurg: A bag of Guts.
See?
And if your not sure that your Computer can run Warcraft III the look at my computer:

DELL Dimension XPS T700, Pentium 3, 9.51 Gig

If my computer can run it then if you have this or above then it should be able to run.
I gave this [Great] game four stars because I haven't beat it all yet, I'm Almost finished with the Undead. So there you have it!

Summary: Over-Hyped and Priced
Review: WC 3 is a good game, but it is over-hyped and definitely OVER-PRICED!!! How can anyone give 5 stars to a game that cost $... Blizzard is taking advantage of people who have been waiting since WC2 and SC. My advice is to wait for the price to drop before giving it a try.

Summary: Enjoyable and Entertaining
Review: This is my first foray into the Warcraft world, and I must say that this offering from Blizzard is quite amazing. The graphics are superb, the civilizations are varied, and the gameplay is very intuitive.
The graphics truly amazed me, especially the first time I (accidently) hit the mouse wheel and watched the camera angle and perspective change. You can even rotate the camera, which eliminates line of sight problems experienced in other RTS games. I don't know what true 3D is, but as the units seem to move slower going up hill and fight with an advantage on higher ground, it sure seems 3D to me.
The campaigns flow much better than those in other RTS games, and most of the missions are non-linear, so you can usually attack the problem at hand from a variety of different directions and with varying methods.
If you like building huge armies to roll over your opponents, you probably won't like this game, at least not at first. Blizzard designed the game to work on the tactical level, putting the emphasis on small units and well-designed teams. The resource system severely penalizes huge armies, so more thought is required before launching your invading force. While some might see this as "dumb" or "stupid", it's actually quite ingenious and forces the player to use economy of force instead of massive numbers of units.
I haven't been online yet, but I am looking forward to further expanding the horizons of this extremely well crafted game.
