Rating: Summary: G R E A T!! Review: An excelent example how a good game can be improved by using the ideas of the previous versions and similar games (starcraft). While playing WC3 the first thing one can notice is the superior graphics and the live movies, the second is the huge variety of options a player has in order to achieve his goal. Heros with various abilities are gaining experience with time. They can also acquire items which empower them with new abilities and they can hire mercenaries. Nevertheless this is only the start. Superior artificial intelligence helps computer enemy to organize his army and to avoid traps. Variety of tasks: You never get bored because the various tasks are really different. Some examples: destroy your enemies, survive for 30-45 mins, go to a special place (sometimes with time limit, sometimes like an adventure game where you have to find special items), a race of killing between you and your enemy etc. The creators also demonstrate enormous creativity in designing 4 races with many differences between each other. Many heroes with various abilities. You use 11 of them and you can find very few similarities in their abilities. There are countless magic items and many neutral races. All these are combined in such a beatiful way that avoid unnecessary complexity and micromanagement. Furthermore: New strategies are required by the player. Attacking with vast armies as in WC1, WC2, SC is not possible any more because of the rules of the game: Maximum 90 soldier units (Knight counts for 4, footmen for 2 etc.). With 71-90 you pay 60% of your gold mined. With 41-70 you pay 30% of your gold mined. Result: You have rather to organize your army not just to build vast armies. The element of cooperation is also included. In 3 situations you have 1-2 computer allies. You cannot command their armies but you can realise their plans and help them (i.e. send your armies to attack when you see that your ally moves his troops). Finally after many games one can realise the psychological impact. Movies and dialogs even during battle makes you to feel the situation. i.e. i)Kel'thuzad: "At last the mighty infernals are coming to our help" (4 infernals have just came from the sky) or ii)Arthas: "Hold my braves. This is the time of our victory" (you have to survive for 30 mins and remain only 2 but the massive attack of the enemy is due). No doubt that the creators have though of everything and have fullfilled their task to create something we have never seen before.
Rating: Summary: It could be better? What would make WC3 better anyway??? Review: Yeah, from my experience with PlayStation 2, I think WC3 should have been better if came out in DVD instead of CD-ROM. Can you imagine PlayStation 2 with that specification could run great games likes Final Fantasy X & Dynasty Warrior, why computer couldn't? In my humble opinion, great games for computer should able to be played even in low end systems. I'm iBook 700 user, because some reviews from particular website make me doubt about WC3 performance in my computer. Please, why you all computer game developers don't want to make game in DVD format???
Rating: Summary: Ok games tries to give you everything, tries... Review: I was a huge fan of Diablo II and Age Of Empires II. This game seemed to me to try to give you what is in both of those games. But it didnt quite deliver. I was very excited about the release of this game but when played it found it lacking for the following reasons: - population limit is VERY LOW - your heros level up but start back at level 1 every game - since you need to level up to stand a chance you have to be agressive from the start of the game. - the NPC just stand there, they should wander around, and once you have killed them all thats it, they dont regenerate. It's a good game for the gamer with moderate expectations, but if you demand the BEST from your gaming experience then, checkout the other two I mentioned. Spend the money and get both of those rather than this one. That way you will get everything your wanting.
Rating: Summary: WarCraft 3 Is a all time perfect game!!!! Review: This game is outstandingly fun and pulls you into a new world. It is unlike any other game I have played. I very rarly give games a 10 and well this one gets a 11!!!! This game is the greatest one I have played yet!
Rating: Summary: LET TERROR REIGN!!! Review: This game is the best blend of fantasy, Role-play strategy, and war I've ever played on the PC. Can you say, 'Addictive as Hell?' The game's pretense is quite simple really- Four different races, each with their own unique abilities and leaders(heroes) are at war. You can either play the story mode, in which you control the races in turn and complete set objectives, or you play custom games, in which you build up your army by mining resources, then go kick the spit out of your opponents. Each race has 3 heroes(Special units) that you must bring into battle to gain experience points. The more experience you gain, the stronger you become(duh) - thereby unlocking more abilities to use in battle. Graphics are quite amazing(If you have the system to handle it) ... All in all though the game is great! Large battles, great animation, and intricate spell design make this game a must have for any RPS gamer.
Rating: Summary: Highly enjoyable online experience Review: While some reviews focus on the graphics of War3, they've missed the greatest achievement of the development team: making gameplay smooth, enjoyable and fresh, even after weeks of playing. While pretty pictures certainly help sell a game, experience gamers know graphics will only carry a game a couple days before it gets old. War3 has some serious substance and gameplay depth. In a similar leap from War2 to Starcraft, the addition of a 4th race adds greatly to the experience. Unlike other RTS series (C&C, Age of Empires), there is no set counter to most units (if the enemy has X, you better have Y or you'll lose). The balance between the 4 races, especially in large team games, is truly amazing. Furthermore, each race is EXTREMELY distinct, unlike War1 or War2, where only a few spells differentiated Orcs from Humans. New features like 3-D terrain and daytime/nighttime add another element to the game, forcing users to account for "real-life" concerns like taking the high ground or attacking at night, when visibility is reduced. Perhaps most important is Blizzard's well-established Battle.net service. The game runs impressively smoothly when playing on Battle.net, even in very large team games. The large community of players and Battle.net's new match service makes for enjoyable online gaming, a must for all new and future computer games.
Rating: Summary: The best game ever made Review: BUY THIS GAME!!!!! Warcraft 3: Reign of Chaos is defenately the best choice for someoene who is looking for a great game. Most computer games I get get boring after a while, but Warcraft III will keep you playing for ages. I got the game months ago and i play it a ton. This is the best game ive ever gotten. Pros: Good terrain graphics, smooth gameplay, FANTASTIC movie graphics (almost looks real, there is so much detail), multiplayer games, 4 cool races (Night Elves, Humans, Orcs, Undead), a good variety of units, great storyline, and world editor, where you can create the most detailed maps and control most aspects of the game, cool sound effects, chatting on battle.net (where you play games over the internet)........This list could go on for quite a while. Cons: Unit graphics arent the best, especially if you zoom in (They arent rounded out, they are a bunch of flat sides instead of bieng rounded out), this game takes up quite a bit of memory, so make sure your computer can support it. Its expensive, but worth the money.....
Rating: Summary: RTS Meets RPG: Score!!! Review: I admit that I had not played either two of the other Warcraft games, which as I heard from my friends, were incredibly fun. So naturally, when Warcraft 3 came out I seriously considered buying it. I asked for it for my birthday next to GTA3. I was a little disappointed at not receiving GTA3, but that grief soon passed as I became immersed in Warcraft 3's incredibly addictive game play. The multiplayer was actually a little better in many respects than other RTS games I had played. I liked how things got going fast unlike AOE where it took FOREVER to finally get into battle, make units, etc. (Don't get me wrong, Age of Empires is one of the best RTS games out there.) However, I quickly learned that the very key to winning multiplayer is SPEED, and the game was actually going somewhat too FAST for my liking. I adjusted and had a great time. Another aspect of multiplayer that I liked was the variety of maps to choose from; not to mention the fact that up to TWELVE players could play on a map at once!!! I also enjoyed how truly DIVERSE each of the four races were. Not only did each group specialize in certain types of fighting, but (for instance) the Night Elves' primary ground troup is completely different from the Orcs, Humans, and Undead. But the multiplayer wasn't the main item that kept me in my seat those first few days. Can you believe it was the Campaign mode that especially caught my interest?! The Campaign missions were made soooooo much more intriguing with the added Role Playing element thrown in. I loved raising Heroes' levels through battle experience. I also adored that, every time I clicked on a unit, it made a sound or responded with a disdinguishable phrase. This was not only pleasing, but helpful; so if I selected the wrong unit I would know by what it sounded like. All in all, Warcraft 3 is an absolute MUST HAVE for any PC gamer out there! (If I could, I'd give this game 6 out o' 5 stars!)
Rating: Summary: AWSOME GAME Review: This game is awsome! It is a must-have if you like stratagy games. The game balance is really good. Battle.net(the multiplayer site) is set up REALLY well. There are 4 armys that compete agenst one another. There are the undead, night elves, humans, and orcs. My overall summary of this game is.........IT ROCKS!!!!!
Rating: Summary: Excellent Addition to your RPS gaming collection Review: Having never played a Warcraft game, I was intrigued by an advertisement I saw in a game magazine for this title. When I purchased it, I was not disappointed. The graphics are absolutely stunning and I think that the gameplay is excellent. You have the opportunity to play four different races during the single player game - and the multiplayer options are virtually endless (although you only have the four races to play from). I thought this game was another excellent title from the folks at Blizzard and if you've enjoyed their other titles (Diablo, Starcraft, etc.), you should enjoy this one.
