Summary: super WEAK
Review: a WEAK excuse for a stragedy game. Yes, there's a lot to keep track of, colonies, designing ships, combat ... on the surface it looks involved and complicated, but it rots. After spending hours building your colonies and fleets, go ahead and do battle with a foe - you'll find they're 100x more powerful than you. Not an equal match. The computer 'cheats' by having no time restrictions on building fleets and refitting ships. But it takes you hundreds of turns to just refit a single ship. Single-player stragedy games must have equality among the sides. The player shouldn't have limitations that the computer controlled sides do not. Truly a big waste of time.

Summary: Great Game!
Review: Awesome Game, one of my all time favorites. Good graphics, sound effects, and plenty of gameplay. Large tech tree, plenty of building options, species customization, well designed diplomacy interface, gotta love the espionage, and you get to blow stuff up! The only thing its missing is the ability to completely design ships. (ala the original Pax Imperia)

Summary: A Classic
Review: Game companies are still attempting to capture the replay ability of this game in the space conquest genre. The customization options are fantastic. You can not find a better game of this type in any bargin bin on earth. If you have not played the Master of Orion series, you owe it to yourself to buy this game!

Summary: Slow and Buggy
Review: I found the Mac version of Master of Orion 2 to be slow and buggy. It crashes quite often, and I found the game play to be slow in real terms and in game terms. Friends who have the Windows version note only minor bugs but complain about the slow speed as well. Games like Civilization II show that you can have well-paced, gripping, yet satisfyingly complex turn-based "exploratory" strategy games that are virtually bug-free. Unfortunately MOO2 is not one of these.

Summary: Lots of fun
Review: I love games that make me think but don't require me to do a lot of little steps and remember a lot of details; I'll take an other college class for that. This game is constantly changing and you can plan out the big things yet still need to make adjustments so it doesn't get dull. That alliance you once had has been broken, not what do you do and still get to your next tech advance? I've decide I prefer to be the Spartans even if the Gaians are more in line with my own political views -- the goal is to win afterall.

Summary: Those damned Alkari!
Review: I played the original MOO (that's Master of Orion for those of you not in the know) and was instantly hooked to that venerable classic. But with no multiplayer support for the original I simply had to await the next installment. And then in 1996 it came. I love this game. I love this game, this constant source of irritation, glory, happiness, grief, anger, sorrow, and consternation all in one. Starting out as one of several races, each with it's own unique characteristics (Humans are good at diplomacy, Psilons are good at research, etc.), you start one one small planet in an huge universe, research your way to building better, and fully customizable ships, to both explore and conquer the other races. Along the way you'll meet the other races and either ally with them or oppose them. And when one crosses you by dropping bio bombs on your planet, rendering it almost uninhabitable, you'll seek the nothing short of the very destruction of thier race. I will make the Alkari bird beaks pay for thier insolence...with thier very existence! *Sigh*...it gets to you after a while, but you'll just have to trust me when I say that it is a very *good* addiction that you won't regret!

Summary: Too good?
Review: I would like to see more games of this nature, with distinctive personalities of opponent races, different levels of play and attention to detail that make it a different game each time it is played. I have played it on both platforms and the only issues that I have were all resolved once the proper patch was downloaded.

Summary: My favorite game of all times
Review: If you are a sci-fi fan and/or you like strategy games, this game is worth the few bucks it now sells for. Heck, it was worth it when it cost 4 times as much.

You pick a race. Each race has advantages and disadvantages. You can even build your own race. You compete against up to seven other races for conquest of the galaxy. Sounds simple, but the detail in this game can be immense.

Best of all, *YOU* choose the level of micromanagement detail you want. Don't wanna have to command each ship in battle ... then don't. Don't wanna have to pick which thing to build next for every stinkin' colony ... then autobuild. You decide how much detail you want. I like that! Heck, even I change my mind. Sometimes I want a quick game and sometimes I love the details, so MOO2 adapts to me, the player!

This game has so much replay and is so fun, that I bought it new when it first came out and still do not go more than 3 months without playing a game.
