Rating: Summary: Tomb Raider 3 Review: Die-hard TR fans will be caught somewhere between thrilled and irritated once again. The graphics improve, but Laura still deserves a face that doesn't look like it was chisled, and, considering her...uh..physical attributes, you would think this might be an issue. Game play is difficult to desperate. A sequence near the end must be performed exactly and with perfect timing, otherwise you get blown up or burn up...nearly impossible without a level skip (which defeats the whole purpose anyway). Puzzles are first-rate, if somewhat disjointed. Half the fun of TR has always been the incredible sights you behold as you enter new areas, and this one won't disappoint. Weapons are much improved, and the choice of where you head next is a neat idea, but doesn't add to a storyline. Plus, once you're there, you stay until you complete it. Unfortunately, many levels require you wandering around aimlessly searching for a lever, or some other piece of a puzzle...and that can be a bit boring. Other areas require such precise timing that you need to save just prior to the sequence because I'll guarantee you'll be performing the same sequence quite a few times until you hit it perfect. Eidos really needs to work on this area badly...TR should be more of a problem-solver than a run/jump/shoot venu and, although it fits part of the adventure, it gets tedious and a bit distracting at times. If you have any problem with hand/eye coordination, this game is gonna be a nightmare. A request for more mind-boggling and less finger-cramping would be in order. Although Laura is a loner, future games would be nice with some interaction during the game. Several strong-performing RPG's have realized this over the past couple of years and Eidos would do Laura a great justice to include some choices that would have different impacts on the final outcome. Anyway, TR fans, a review probably won't stop or force you to buy this chapter. Much better than TR2, not as fresh as the original, it has enough to challenge you. Trouble is, it's like a soda without the fizz...you can swallow it, but you know somethings missing...
Rating: Summary: Tedious - offers little over the previous TR titles. Review: The designers of this game were uninspired. With this title, you can see the TR formula in action... the puzzles/levels do not draw upon your creative problem-solving skills. Rather, you have the same old process of jumping up and down platforms and running around this virtual world looking for the hidden levers and switches to get you to the next place. The only skill this requires is the ability to tediously examine every corner of the levels so you don't miss a crucial switch or item. I have no problem with tedious, if there is something more, but when that is the only challenge, it is just boring. TR3 is just that: boring! Even the rare encounters with bad guys require little thought and skill. To be fair, TR3 is not all bad - there is an undeniable attractiveness to these games (besides Lara, you perv!). The scenery is usually interesting and occasionaly beautiful. The story is weak, though. This game is a perfect synthesis of fun and boring. If I could, I would have given this game 2.5 stars.
Rating: Summary: Travel to London,Nevada and the South Pacific. Review: This game kicks some serious butt. You take Lara Croft to hell and beyond. An ok story line and a lot like 2 and gold but still tons of devilish fun. The best weapon in this tomb raider are the uzi's!
Rating: Summary: The worst of the TR trilogy. Review: To be fare, Eidos was trying to be innovative and original with it's levels and puzzles and that feature where you choose where to go next. But it seems to be at the cost of the story and level ideas. The graphics are no better than in TR2, the levels are too tedious, the levels have boring themes and the story is just pathetic. And worst of all is that in many levels you come across blurring where they seem to have missed out some of the graphics, which is plain careless. Other than that though. TR3 does have some interesting puzzles and additions which prevent it from being a 1 star game. Don't bother, I'd say. Get the first and second TR games instead.
Rating: Summary: One of the better TR. Review: Tomb Raider 3, is very much like the others. The movement is the same, ect. But, I found this one to be one of the more enjoyable. Once again you are able to go to Lara's House, but there's more to do, and one could spend hours finding the secrets, and exploring it. Otherwise, though, I hasn't really changed, and while the plot is pretty linear, it's still a cool game.
Rating: Summary: BUY THIS GAME! Review: Well worth the wait. More plot than previous games. Fantastic action. More ways to solve puzzles (fewer impossible jumps).
Rating: Summary: Still a 4 star game, but is better... Review: Yes, the game hasn't changed enough to make it to 5 stars, but there are new ups and downs: Ups: Improved graphics. New enemies. Better stages. Here's the big one (...) *Drool*. I spent about half an hour just turning her around. *goggle*. Downs: Um, no other improvements
