Summary: Enjoyable, but with some detractions
Review: "Jedi Knight: Jedi Academy" is the latest offering from LucasArts, and I'm happy to say it delivers in many areas. At the same time, however, this new addition to the Jedi Knight family has its detractions, and definitely fails to live up to its predecessors.

Unfortunately, the interesting story that usually accompanies the line of LucasArts Star Wars game is painfully lacking here. "Jedi Outcast" had a storyline that could have easily been translated into a novel. The story surrounding "Jedi Academy", however, has a rushed and undeveloped feel to it. The result is an uninteresting (and dare I say boring) story that lacks most of the charm we've come to expect from previous installments.

That said, the game play is still magnificent, even to the point of rivaling "Jedi Outcast." Choice of light sabers is an excellent addition to the game and definitely increases the fun of lightsaber duels. There are many new moves as well, including special combinations that produce some great acrobatics. Another plus is the plethora of saber wielding opponents throughout the game. Unlike "Jedi Outcast", where saber opponents didn't appear until half way through the game, "Jedi Academy" introduces them at an early stage and they stick around for the length of the game.

The only downside to game play is the system requirements. These are much heftier than those of "Jedi Outcast." At the same time, the graphics seem to have taken a plunge, which is odd considering the increased system requirements.

Overall, the game is well worth a lot. I wouldn't spend $40 on it, though. Wait until the price gets more reasonable.

Summary: Jedi Acadamy: Much Better than expected
Review: Jedi Acadamy is third game of the Star Wars: Jedi Knight series. It uses the same old Jedi Outcast Engine but it's developed and way better than JK2. The Game is costomisable and it's the coolest part. You can design your player and the Lightsabertoo. The story line is great and there are many extra stuff like more force powers, duel lightsabers and double-bladed lightsabers. It's way cooler and Lucasarts has done a neat job on it. It even has Kyle Katarn, the hero of JK2. It ports good graphics, sound and rich game play. Let's hope Knights of the old-republic is even better.

Summary: pretty good game but can be improved
Review: the graphics are good, the lightsaber fighting is good but the choice of weapons to use can be improved and it can have better menus. it is worth the price in my opinion.

Summary: Better than Outcast. Just.
Review: Well, I must say this is a little better than Outcast. There are certainly many points which made this game more enjoyable for me. But there are some other points which I thought were not so good.
On the good side: Academy has a much wider variety of choice than Outcast. Here you get to choose almost every mission from a menu screen. You also get to design your own character at the start of the game. And, as you progress through the game, you can add force powers to your inventory as you see fit. In other words this isn't just a romp through some tough levels that you can beat by simply getting to the end. You actualy have to think on this game and make the right decisions as you go. It makes all the difference at the end. You even get to choose between the Dark side or the Light. Another great point about Academy is the wider variety of planets to visit. One of the dullest points about Outcast was the monotany of the environments that you played in (the first 5 levels being the worst of all). In Acadmey though, you get deserts, jungles, cities, asteroids and even an 'Aliens' style planet with acid rain. So theres always somthing to see on the next mission. Then there's the addition of Speeder Bikes, Tauntauns and Walkers to ride on. Great playing experience on those bikes that reminds me of Return of the Jedi.
On the bad side: the game, for the more experienced of Jedi Knight gamers, is over too quick. Which isn't too bad, considering that you can play it again in a different way and get different results. But still, you think that they could have put more complex puzzles in, like they did in Outcast. The other bad point is the weak and predictable storyline. I understand that with a game that allows this much choice in playing, the story can't be too pre-determined. But it could have been better than this. Perhaps some better interaction with other characters would have helped, or at least some different enemies. How come I havn't seen a game yet involving the Yuzaan Vong that feature in the SW story books. That make a change.
Nevertheless, I enjoyed trolling through it, and I will be playing it again in a different order to see what happens. I'll go for the Dark Side this time, he he.

Summary: One of the best SW games yet!
Review: I have played all of the dark forces games from the first all the way to this one. I have to say I love them all, great games( although I wish they would have the Darktroopers come back they were fun) I loved this game the moment I played it. My only complant ( sorry if it's misspelled) is it was too short. For those of you who didn't read the book Boba Fett killed the Sarlace and got away. One fun thing to do is cheat to spawn a mutant rancor to kill that annoying Desann and Tavion you spawned. A really fun thing to do is go to the sand worm one and spawn rancors and mutant rancors, it's fun as #ell to see the worm eat them. I say this is a great game, if you like star wars then I reccomend this game for you.

Summary: Addictive, very addictive...
Review: This was the first "Star Wars" based game I've played, so I'm not gonna compare it to others of the series (although I'm now trying to hunt 'em down due to playing this one).

In my opinion, this game does play out like the movie. It has the music, the sound effects, the layouts, the characters and everything. I got this game as part of a sound-card bundle, and I've been playing it obsessively since I loaded it.

I like using the Force to choke Storm Troopers to death, using dual light-sabers (and you can pick which color saber you want), exploring all kinds of terrains and clipping off people's limbs with said light-saber.

Some of it is a bit contrived (like didn't Boba Fett get eaten by that big worm thing when Luke opened up his jet-pack in the movie? I mean, how is he now chasin' you all over one of the missions if he's supposed to be worm chow?). Also the cameo apperances of most of the cast seemed a bit more like "We were in the movie!" than blended into the story.

Otherwise, great game. Replay-ability is fairly high... I'm planning on playing it through again twice. Once with a character who's almost totally "Dark Side" and another totally "Light Side". You DO get to pick which side your character is on, and you make decisions based off which side you wanna be on... also, your jedi masters will let you know how close to the dark side you are.

Requirements: I was runnin' it fine on a Athlon 1800+, GeForce 4 Ti-4200 and 512 Megs PC-2100 (Windows XP). Very few slow-downs, no mess-ups. I upgraded to a Geforce 5900FX, but it looks good and runs great on a GF4.

Summary: Star Wars Jedi Knight: Jedi Academy
Review: Jedi Acadamy is the next best Star Wars game after Outcast. Play Jaden a young acadamy student and stop the Dark Jedi's from stealing the Dark Side energy and using it for their own evil ways. Costumize your charecter. Choose lightsaber colors from single, dual and two sided sabres. Pick four out of five mission. Choose and upgrade the force powers. Ride Swoop bikes and Tauntauns. Even choose your path to the Light or Dark Sides. There are not much change in graphics but the levels are well desinged and very large. I have a PIV 2.4Ghz, 512mb Ram, GeForce Fx and i did not have any problems with it. If you liked Jedi Acadamy you will love this game.

You can use force powers, a lightsabre, and a arsenal of weapons like bazookas. THIS GAME RULES, THE BEST STAR WARS GAME EVAR!!!!

Summary: Another Great Game in the Dark Forces Series
Review: Ok, for anyone who liked the Dark Forces Series, or anyone who even likes shooters they'll LOVE this game. In this game you don't get to be Kyle... but that dosen't mean that he won't be in the game! At the start of the game you get to create your own jedi with tons of options like: you get to choose you species, Human, Female Human, Twi'lek, Rodian(Personal Favorite!), Zabrak, and Kel Dor. After that you make your lightsaber: choose your color, hilt, then you go into the game! But don't think you'll only get a single blade lightsaber, because you'll get to have a double blade (like Darth Mauls) too! Also you'll get to have two single blades (one in each hand!) and be able to fight with one and throw the other! Oh I almost forgot the force powers! Well, I'll list them for you with brief explanations: Force Push (push stuff like enemies or thermal detonaters), Force Pull (pull stuff like weapons and items), Force Speed (can make jedi go 100% faster on highest level), Force Jump (makes jedi jump a hole lot higher), Mind Trick (can distract or allie enemies), Force Heal (heals jedi), Force Absorb (can absorb dark side force powers and push and pull), Force Protect (decreases damage taken from attack), Force Sence (like force seeing exept that you can see items also), Force Rage (speeds up your movement and attack damage and speed), Force Drain (Drains Health from other NPCs and replenishes your health), Force Grip (Chokes enemies), Force Lightning (Lets out a electric burst of lightning out of your finger tips), well that prett much sums up to a AWESOME game, if you would like more info on this game go to: http://www.lucasarts.com/products/jediacadamy/index.html

I hope this Review helps anyone to deside to buy this game I would recamend this game to any gamer out there.

Summary: If You Enjoyed Jedi Outcast, You'll Enjoy Jedi Academy
Review: Not everyone liked Jedi Outcast. For instance, I've heard many complaints about the lightsaber mechanics. I however loved Jedi Outcast and found Jedi Academy to be more of the same saber swinging fun. I admit, I'm a Star Wars fan, so maybe the ability to force push people to their death while the classic John Williams Star Wars music plays in the background is too much gaming bliss for me to resist but I still think this game would be fun for people not in love with the Star Wars universe. I'm sure it helps though to at least have watched the original trilogy. For those that played the first game, there are two significant changes. One is that your Jedi can now wield dual lightsabers (i.e. Anakin Skywalker vs. Count Dooku in Episode II) or a double-bladed lightsaber (i.e. Darth Maul in Episode I). The second largest difference is that you can now pick your missions instead of following a linear story driven path like Jedi Outcast did. There is still a terrific story in Jedi Academy and every so often you're forced to go on a specific mission to move the story but you're allowed a little more freedom than the other game. Perhaps my only complaint about this game would be a weak online community. Only time will tell if gamers will design their own modifications for the sequel but compared to other popular first-person shooters, there aren't many servers available for online play and most of them don't allow you to use your force powers. If you've ever desired to wield a lightsaber, this is the game for you! It's a fun title that breathes fresh life into the first-person shooter genre.
