Summary: Coolest game ever played
Review: Two worsd: Light Saber.
It slices and it dices. It blocks laser-fire. Once you've learned some combinations, clearing a room of 10 simultaneously firing Storm Troopers and a Reborn Jedi becomes ever-so-effortless and ever-so-gratifying. You swing, you twirl, you jump, you twirl, and they're all dead.

The levels are breathtaking, both in detail and in scope. The graphics overall are incredible: pixle-shading and dynamic lighting produce realistic shadows, reflections, and beautiful streaking light-sabers. The Yavin swamp, near the end of the game, was truely inspired: it's dead on what I would expect from a Star Wars swamp, and the tiny drops of rain continuously hit your saber and evaporate into a tiny swirl of vapor.

Plus, once you've beaten it on every difficulty setting, you can Mod it (thanks to the very extensive online community of enthusiasts) to change the gameplay, like giving Kyle a lightsaber and force mastery from the very beginning of the game, or making him look like Luke and the main boss look like and sound like Vader. Or substituting all the characters for Anakin, Padme, Obiwan, and Qui-Gon from Episodes 1 and 2. Or you add on a custom level with a custom objective. Or you can change your saber hilt. Muliplayer is great whether you are online or facing Bots- I recommend downloading a Yoda skin and a Mod to make him the correct height -- he's positively lethal. Multiplayer is easily the coolest experience you've ever had online. Some of these guys are so good with the saber that it'll make your head spin (on the floor, by your feet, if you're playing with the Realistic Combat code activated). I'd love to see an accomplished Quake 3 player jump into a saber-wielding multiplayer game complete with force powers, only to find all of his rockets and laser shots reflected back on himself.

Trust me, with the patience to learn this game, it'll rock your world.

Summary: You can be a Jedi Knight!
Review: This game lets you do everything in the movies! Pull guns out of people's hands, dismember bodies, shock them with force lighting. This game has everything that a Star Wars fan should be looking for in a game. The multiplayer is nothing special, except for all the force powers and lightsaber, but the single player is superb, with lots of inovative levels.

Summary: The Force will be with you.
Review: I have been playing JKII: Jedi Outcast non-stop since I picked it up, and I cannot say enough out it! Once you start the game, you are totally immersed into the Star Wars universe with the sites, sounds, characters, and music. The sound track to this chapter is totally awesome! From the hopeful, joyous music of the Rebellion to the dark, damp sounds of the Empire: you will live in the Star Wars world. And once you obtain your Force powers, you will start to believe that you are a true Jedi and can take on the forces of Evil yourself.

I did a lot of research on this game before shelling out the $50 for it and it was well worth it! Even if you are not a fan of the Star Wars saga, the story, graphics, and layout of this game are outstanding. So, if you are considering this game, consider no more. You will love it!!

Summary: The Force Is With This One
Review: This game is one of the best games ever maid.I am currently useing one of the new mac laptops on OS X.1.5 and I have no problems if i turn down the graphics. So if you have a faster computer im sure you'll have no trouble at all with compadibility. If you have any doubts download the demo and see how it checks out. I begg anyone who is questioning the game to do this it least. The storyline is one of the best I've ever seen. I'm really disapointed in the level design however. I can't tell you how long Iv'e spent back tracking to find a hidden button or key. Dark Forces had great level design and it's to bad it didn't carry over. Another Slight problem I found was the saving sometimes the checkpoint didn't save right and whenever I tried to open it the game crashed. However this is minute. These is the only con however that I see. Their isn't anything in this world more satisfying than chopping up storm troopers with your lightsaber. The force powers are great. The multiplayer is beyond anything ever created. What could be better then dueling it out with eight guys. Lightsabers flying along with people. Nothing in Mac gameing history is as cool.
PROS
_LIghtsaber
_Forcepowers
_Awsome Multiplayer
_Great Story
_Great Graphics with few problems of compatibility
CONS
_level design
_Slight Saving Problems
OVERALL
The singal player is a little bit annoying because of the level design. But it's still worth it but the multiplayer alone is worth the 50$!

Summary: Excellent game
Review: This game is full of puzzles, and yes, it can get frustrating when you are forced to retrace your steps to find the missed button or key. Nevertheless, the gameplay is great, but the controls are a little touchy. It might work better with a control pad. Aiming with the joystick is pretty tough, but it is the only way to go for lightsaber combat. Speaking of which, the lightsaber is the greatest part of the game. It goes above and beyond anything Jedi Knight I could ever pull off. But the "moves" you can do with the lightsaber are overrated. The attacks are so fast that you usually end up just mashing buttons and swinging away.
This is the best 1st person computer game I have ever played.

Summary: awesome, wonderful -- and with a light saber too!!...
Review: Dark Forces was my favorite first-person shooter (FPS) for a long time. I still play it occasionally, and was upset about LucasArts not porting the first Jedi Knight game to Mac. My bitterness is at an end however, having longed for, rushed-to-buy and now completed Jedi Knight II -- a terrific game with loads of great weapons and Force powers. I haven't played the multiplayer game yet, but here is my evaluation of single player mode:

Good things: (1) First and foremost, as with Dark Forces, there is an actual STORY with mission objectives that tie in to a larger purpose. Unlike most FPS's, where you just kill everything in sight and push whatever buttons present themselves, there is a plot here that makes sense. (2) The settings are terrific -- 24 levels that take place on ships, planets, city streets, the Jedi Academy, swamps and more -- filled with lovely graphics and extraordinary detail. (3) Humor. One reason I can't wait to play again is that I was so anxious to get through the game the first time that I sometimes didn't wait to hear the often funny conversations between Storm Troopers or their dressing down by officers. (4) The weapons and tools are great, with primary and secondary functions that have you changing tactics just for the joy of trying different modes of attack. Seeker drones and assault sentries are fun to use, but they are nothing compared to the great Force powers, which have three levels of power that are upped as you make progress through the levels -- Force Push, Pull, Grip, Lightning, Speed and Mind Trick are a blast to use, and add dimension to your strategy. The light sabre is great fun and you can become as adept as you want to with the magnificent number of moves and saber styles available. (5) Many of the same bad guys as in Dark Forces, but in better graphics and with more challenging moves. Great new villains include the camouflaged Swamp Troopers and Admiral Fyyar. (6) The ability to choose between first- or third-person perspective is awesome. (7) The game is very stable. Running on a PowerMac G4, I never had one crash. (8) The cut scenes added dimension and moved the story along, and they integrated seamlessly with gameplay. (9) John Williams music makes you feel like you're in the Star Wars universe, and sounds in general are used to good effect. (10) Billy Dee Williams voicing Lando Calrissian! (11) Enemy death throes.

Bad things: (1) Unlike Dark Forces, there is no map function, and I found I really missed that. Levels are sometimes HUGE, and I'd have liked to have had some reference. (2) The secret areas were not very exciting, usually just containing a few supplies. (3) Sometimes voices were garbled or masked by the music and there was no way to hear what Kyle was muttering to himself or repeat what message had come over an intercom, for example. Unlike cutscene dialogues they were not subtitled. (4) The climactic battle with Evil Lord Dessan was less interesting than an earlier encounter with Fyyar. (5) I found it was difficult to maneuver when I used Force Speed.

But these are minor quibbles. The game is wonderful. I'm ecstatic that it was ported to Macintosh. I've made it through one time and look forward to playing it again. And again .... and again ....

Review: Will ONLY work on latest (flat-screen) iMac with super-duper graphics card! Disappointed children are not a pretty sight -- if you have a "lesser" iMac, stay away!

Summary: Good Single Player, Bad Multiplayer.
Review: All in all, the best Star Wars game there is. Iv'e just completed the single player game and I found it very well layed out. Good graphics and sound. Enemy AI has also been greatly improved here. The settings are true to Star Wars style, although most of them are not from the films.
The first 2 missions are not so good, because you dont get to use force or lightsaber. The storyline does explain why that is but it's still a drag. The levels themsevles are good though.
After that, you go to Yavin to get force and training on the temple grounds. You also get to meet some Star Wars characters here.
Then things get brilliant. After that you get to go to Nar Shaddar city to get Reelo. Great level but could have done with some ordinary civilians ambling in the streets for realism.
Then off to Bespin. This is the best mission. Very true to the film.
Then the Cairn Instilation and Doomgiver ship. Great level design but too repetetive. Then finaly, Back to Yavin for final battle. This is a nice level, great jungle and temple scenery. But the jungle lacks animals. You can hear them though. You also get to fight alongside Luke and some others as you approach your Nemesis.
Sadly the Multiplayer has very poorly done out levels. They lack so much in design and atmosphere, that you need lots of players to make it worth it.
Even if your not a Star Wars fan, you'll like this game.

Summary: A couple of shortcomings, but very worth it
Review: There are several things that grabbed me about this game. First was the demo. Without it, I would probably not have considered buying this game. I remember not liking the original Dark Forces. Running around hacking Stormtroopers to bits with a lightsaber was very enjoyable, so the purchase was made. (By the way, the Demo is a level not in the game itself)

After playing around with the demo and the lightsaber, I got annoyed at the switch from third person to first person when changing to a blaster. This can be easily rectified using the 'p' key. There are some really neat acrobatics that look like they can only be done in 3rd person. Aiming with a blaster in 3rd person can be a bit of a pain, so the ability to switch gets a major thumbs up.
Those acrobatic jumps have to be done 'just right'. It's far too easy to try to jump to a ledge and bounce off a wall, or skid too far and plunge to your death.
Many of the 'secret' areas are accessable only though these jumps. The only thing you get at these areas are some shields, or ammo, so if you're stocked up, it's not worth going to them. There are no 'hey, cool!' aspects to them. I guess I expected more after the Marathon days when secrets meant more story depth.

The 'auto block' feature of the lightsaber was great, as far less time is spent dodging blaster fire, and you can concentrate more on wasting some enemies.

As far as bugs go, I've only noticed two. Loading a checkpoint will sometimes crash the game. This can be annoying when you die, and then go back to reload, only to have to load a save farther back than a checkpoint. The other is minor, as the load dialogue has a limit and doesn't list all of your saves. Deleting an old save will show your new saves.

The force powers are really neat. Push, Pull, Mind Trick. Push is great when you see enemies standing on a ledge (hee, hee). When I saw the force lightning pop up on my powers list I thought "Oh yeah!" I spent far too much time choking and force lightning stormtroopers once those abilities got to level 3.

Voice acting is reasonable. Billy Dee Williams does the voice of Lando! The voice of Luke bothered me, but I'm not exactly sure why. I noticed a few times in the game where the soft voice of Kyle didn't carry well, or didn't seem to fit the mood.

Sure there are a few shortcomings, but you get to play with a lightsaber. You get to kill Stormtroopers, You get to play with a lightsaber! (did I mention the lightsaber yet?)

Summary: This game rocks
Review: I played the PC version of this game first, and completely fell in love. Not even this amazing game, however, could keep me from buying my even MORE amazing PowerMac G4, but when I saw the game was released for Mac I pre-ordered it, and love it. The single player game is wonderful, the OpenGL graphics are absolutely beautiful, especially if you have a high-end graphics card as it will take as much video bandwidth as you can throw at it. The multiplayer version is compatible with the PC online server community, so don't worry about not having anyone to play with. GET THIS GAME!!!! By the way, It hasn't crashed on me at all in the first week...
