Summary: If you liked Diablo 1, You must get the sequel!
Review: I am telling you, this game is the best game i have playing since diablo 1 and starcraft. Yeah there are some other games out there that are good, but this one is truly magnificent. A must for any gamer that like likes killing things, some good puzzles, or for just the joy of playing it on the net.

Summary: Better than the original, but too much fighting
Review: This game is like the original, but better. It is much longer and actually hard. The classes are well thought out and make a big difference in gameplay. The skill tree makes the game a bit more of a true RPG. But the type of game is the same - hack and slash. Most of it is spent wandering around and clicking on enemies. If you liked Diablo, then you will like Diablo II even more. But if you enjoy real RPGs, then this game won't be your favorite.

Summary: Buy this Game.
Review: If this game allowed for higher monitor resolutions than 640x480 with 256 colors, I'd have given it a five. As it stands right now, Diablo 2 is one of the better sequels I have ever played, and an incredible game in its own right. Gone are the days of mindlessly choosing a generic character that more or less plays like any other, you now have 5 distinct classes , and combined with their abundant skill trees, you're almost guarnteed a unique experience everytime you start the game over. Gone are the limited quests and short playing time, Diablo 2 features almost 20 quests covering A variety of exotic locales. Play control has been refined, hotkeys made more plentiful, and the user interface is intuitive.Equipment has more variety, and your storage space has been increased. Weather effects have been added for the outdoors location, and they help set a gloomy tone with the eerie music. Blizzard retooled everything I disliked about the first one (cramped inventory, easily accessible cheats, limited quests) and kept the distinct feel of the original game. There is plenty to like about this game, and I'm not doing it justice. Buy it.

Summary: Not bad, but don't expect TOO much
Review: Okay, okay. I've bought the game and played it into the ground in the space of 96 hours. It's great. But it is NOT the quantum leap I was expecting.

For all the hooplah the player characters - when running - look skewed; the many new monsters are often bright and cartoonish - cheap and ill-conceived in other words; the repetition of monsters that was at times frustrating in Diablo I is still very frustrating (read: boring); you still ignore most of the (new) magic items as most are not worth the effort, and besides, you end up with so much money you may as well wait for that ONE fabulous item that costs a small fortune.

For all this, I am going to lose much sleep and put up with many an ache and pain from sitting glued to my PC whilst playing Diablo II.

Summary: BEST GAME EVER!
Review: This game is probably one of the best games of the year if not in history. Oh my goodness.....this game had a short install yet you need about 950 MB to install multiplayer and single player but it's worth every single megabyte. Once I started playing this game I was hooked. The five character types give so much replay value over the original game's 3. Instead of having a single town you have four towns as big or bigger as the original game's Tristram. With four cd's you are promised at least 50 hours of gameplay. There are better weaponry and you can finally run instead of walking. This game is huge and it's gameplay is huge. BUY IT NOW....please.

Summary: The Game Lives Up To The Hype!
Review: This game is a vast improvement over the previous installation. The wilderness areas are large, offering plenty of opportunities to do my favorite thing: Wander about after all the fighting and look at the utter carnage that was wrought! There are times when something which SHOULD be there isn't, but is often there if you just reload the game (waypoints, dungeon entrances), and I have a feeling this minor bug (if it is, in fact, a bug, and not just my own PC) will not detract from the game at all. The new PC classes are intriguing, and the Paladin's auras are fantastic. I highly recommend this game, as it will no doubt earn the same high accolades as its predecessor did.

Summary: Best Game of the Year
Review: Diablo II has the "look and feel" of Diablo I but is an entirely different game. It consists of 4 acts, each act with it's own quests, NPCs and monsters. The graphics are simply amazing, although the game is only available in 800x600. It is MUCH more challenging than Diablo I ever was, and there are different levels of difficulty (Normal, Nightmare, Hell). The item variation is also incredible, with hundreds of items to find and collect. If you're planning to play multiplayer, you'll also be happy to know that it is IMPOSSIBLE to cheat in Diablo II. The Battle.net "realm" characters are stored server-side, eliminating all ways of cheating. This is the best game of the year, and is easily worth your money.

Summary: It's worthy of the hype... almost
Review: I just got Diablo II yesterday and I can tell you it's very good. It's just as addictive and fun as Diablo 1. I LOVED the first Diablo and this game improves upon everything in it. Now, I've only played the game for a couple of hours, and I'm still in Act 1, I'm on the last quest to defeat Andariel.

The graphics are sharper and better animated, the characters in town are more life-like and don't stand in one place, and there is NO loading time. The game only loads when you start it, but from then on, everything is seamless. Example: You can run out of town and enter the wilderness without loading. The game tells you when you've reached a new area. It will say stuff like "Entering Cold Plains" and stuff like that.

The characters are varied and interesting. I've sampled the Paladin and Necromancer and they are awesome. Each character has 30 different abilites to learn and you choose how to develop them. When you gain a level, you can use 1 skill point on your skills. The more skill points you use on a certain skill, the more powerful it gets. You can also distribute 5 points to your character's stats each time you level up, as in Diablo 1.

The game has a more RPG feel to it. You talk more with townspeople and learn more about them and the situation. (For instance, Gheed, a travelling caravan merchant, wants to go east to the Lut Gholien, but he can't becuase of the demons in the area.) The plot so far is kinda basic but still interesting, but I won't spoil anything.

Combat is much more fun. You can use different strategies when fighting enemies. You now have a run button which lets you escape from a horde of enemies. Your MANA bar also replenishes itself so you don't have to worry as much about Mana Potions. The areas range from caves to large fields to churches.

I can't comment on multi player cause the server keeps crashing on me. Hopefully Blizzard will fix it. I can already say that multiplayer IS fun, from what I've sampled of it.

In conclusion, if you enjoyed Diablo 1, hurry and buy this IMMEDIATELY. Everything has been improved and expanded upon in the sequel, and I for one am pleased at Blizzard's work.

Summary: Devilishly delicious
Review: What a pleasure to play a game that is stable, fast (even on my relatively slow computer), well-balanced, and just plain fun. The graphics appear a bit dated at first, but become more detailed and beautiful in each area. In so many role-playing games, exploration becomes a chore because everything looks and feels the same. Not so in Diablo II, which becomes more interesting and varied as the game progresses.

Although Diablo II is still more an action game than an RPG, the new skill system and the increasingly clever quests make the game feel almost as rich as a full-bodied RPG. Because each character type has different skills and approaches to combat, and there are five character types, the game is very replayable.

Combat is fast and easy to control. Left and right mouse clicks can be configured to perform any combat action or cast any spell. And even when the screen is crammed with nasty beasties, combat response is smooth and fast (I have a PII 400).

At first I didn't like the fact that I can't save and reload games when I want to, but this does make game play more intense and realistic. It makes sense that death should have some consequences, and at least you can retrieve your items.

Diablo II is a great game. I usually stick to RPG and strategy games, but this action/RPG ranks among the best games I've played. Thanks to Blizzard for taking the times to do things right.
