Summary: Diablo 2 - A more involved Gauntlet
Review: Diablo 2 is really a more pumped up Gauntlet. (Do you remember the game with the famous sayings, "Warrior needs food badly"?) That said, I can't remember playing a game that is so consistantly enjoyable. A personal prefrence that I make in my gaming choices is that I don't like to spend hours figuring out puzzles and mazes. A little brain work is ok, but get me to the action, the monsters, the different weapons and levels quicker. Diablo 2 succeeds overwelmingly here. Non-stop action, yet still quest based. The game guides you through effortlessly, but never just gives everything away. A must-buy for casual and avid gamers alike.

Summary: Diablo 2 = Good Game
Review: If your like me and haven't played diablo 1, but your interested in RPG's then Diablo 2 is right for you. D2 is great, i played for 8 hours and it seemed like 15 minutes. the gameplay is VERY addicting and will keep you wanting more. the first act is a little dull but the rest are FANTASTIC. my friend says this version has less satan involved which i think is better, because it wasn't needed to make the game better. buy this game.

Summary: Excellent! (but...)
Review: Buy it!

Diablo II is basically Diablo with more ground to cover, NPC companions, more charater development/depth, improved graphics, more stuff to find and sell, more spells to cast, and more heads to bust. If you fell in love with Diablo, playing this will be love part deux. After playing a few levels, you'll be thinking about how you can play it again with a different character. How many other games can boast that kind of replayability? The "role playing" aspect has been greatly improved as has the NPC interaction. On top of the "hack-n-slash" is a rich story that gives the game character and fullness. The music, story, and environment all add up to an experience that stays with you long after you are done playing (like a really good book or movie).

It isn't perfect, though:

1) The NPC/Golems aren't too bright. They get lost if you take them on a jog through the dungeon and do things like attack your "bone wall" after you cast it to protect them. Duh!

2) The save game feature bites a dried corpse's hiney. You can't save "in the moment" anymore. You must "Save and Exit" which means leaving where you are and restarting in the last town you were in. All of the monsters reset, you lose your golem, and if you had to travel three dungeon levels down to get the your quest goal, but didn't quite make it, you have to start that march again. If you die, your corpse remains where you got whacked (with your gear) and you reappear in town unless you "save and exit". Doing that somehow brings your body/gear to town. This might give you a greater sense of urgency when it comes to taking on the minions of hell, but it's annoying when you have kids, work, wife, a life, etc. and get interupted or play at short intervals Vs. hours at a time.

3) Too much of a good thing. In Diablo the unique/magic items were a big deal. In Diablo II they are everywhere. The really good ones might not be, but there are so many magic goodies laying around you'd think the local order of magi had an enchantment blowout night and lit up every item around.

Everybody's a critic, though, so forget what I wrote and go buy the game. You won't be disappointed if you like the first one and like the sword and sorcery bit.

Review: THIS IS THE GREATEST GAME OF ALL TIME.

Summary: Diablo II rocks!
Review: I recomend Diablo II to everyone! It's the best game I have ever played. There is free internet play over battle.netâ„¢, which is great. The game isn't exactly an RPG, but more an adventure/action/RPG. Or as Blizzard Entertainment says, "We didn't make an RPG, we made Diablo." You choose from 5 completely unique from eachother character classes. Them being: Amazon, Barbarian, Paladin, Necromancer, Sorceress.

Amazon: A versatile character that specializes in throwing weapons such as spears and javelins and also if very handy with a bow. The Amazon also has some cool spells and passive magics.

Barbarian: A savage melee character with little or no "magic" spells. His 3 skill trees include, Combat Actions, War Cries, and Masteries.

Paladin: A very popular character played on battle.net. Paladins have "auras", which benifit themselves and other users that are on the Paladin's respective, "party".

Necromancer: A very interesting and powererful character. The Necromancer fancies raising dead victims of his own. He also has, "Poison and Bone" skill category, which is mostly offensive spells. The "Curses" section is another skill tree. However, the Summoning section seems to overpower the Curses + Poison and Bone.

Sorceress: She is the main magic character with all sorts of fancy spells. Her spells are devided into three sections, those being: Fire, Lighting, Cold. The Lightning section seems to be the most powerful, however. If you like a lot of powerful magics she is the character to choose.

Summary: An Amazing Delivery
Review: I pre-ordered the game the 26th (4-10 day shipping), received a notice that it had been shipped the 30th on the official release date with a free 3-5 day shipping upgrade, and was totally blown away when I was wading into the action Saturday the 1st! As for the game, it was a hard two year wait but worth it. Walk around a stalagmite in one of the caves and your light casts a shadow on the opposite side. Left click for one attack and right click for another. More options to configure your controls the way you like them. No waiting when you go through the town portal or walk into a new cavern. Don't think about it, just buy it. Diablo is back; he's mad; and he's waiting on you for round two!

Summary: Diablo II Highly Recommended
Review: Diablo II is simply excellent. The key strengths of the original Diablo have been passed down and improved upon for the sequel. It is now more like an RPG while still retaining the fast-paced and exciting gameplay.

Unlike the original, Diablo II characters are VERY unique. Rather than everyone advancing in a uniform set of spells, each of the five characters has unique abilities. They go beyond spells---they are skills (both passive and active), auras (or curses), and of course spells. This leaves the dillemma of which character to use first, since all are very cool to use. Two high-level Paladins may also have different capabilities depending on the Paladin skills that were developed during play. You can develop many skills, or become very strong in a few skills, for example.

The game is about 4 times larger than the original as well, including several towns and wilderness areas. As far as RPG, there is more interaction with NPC's, and some will even adventure with you, whether by hiring or summoning.

Amazon's review was glowing for this game, as it should be, but I disagree with the only real con listed: no graphics improvement. Although the original resolution of 640 x 480 was retained, the artwork is better than before. 3d effects have been added that greatly enhance game play. A parallax perspective was also added to show more depth. The translucent and transparency effects are more advanced than used in Diablo I. The creatures are more visually impressive (some are also HUGE) including how they die. The animation engrosses you into the gameplay more than the original.

In the end, this game deserves its sales figures and actually lives up to the hype. It will provide many, many hours of game play thanks to the skill system, the different characters, randomization of wilderness/dungeons, and above all, even more addictive gameplay then the original.

Summary: not as good as I had hopped!
Review: If you like the battlenet play and the multi player mode you will like the game. I like the single player mode in Diablo and Hellfire and this new game does not save and let you continue to play. Trying new wepons is a nightmare! you get killed you lose all your cool stuff! Hackers need to make a thing to save character and restore it, like they did for Diablo. It is a good game but not if you like collecting the cool armor and trying new stuff. Also the spells are messed up, you are only allowed to use specific ones for each character (this is really stinks! )

Summary: 2000 Game Of The Year
Review: This great game, about your quest to slay the evils of Diablo, if not the game of the year, is one of the games of the year.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Absolutely addictive!
Review: Warning: if you buy this game, you will need to set aside some serious time away from your loved ones because Diablo2 sucks you in and doesn't let go. This is one of those games where you tell yourself "Ok...5 more minutes and I gotta get going." then you look up at the clock and an hour went past. I think Blizzard includes some sort of time warp with the game. :) Ok...enough rambling, now to the game. The graphics, while a bit dated by today's standards, are still fun to watch. The magic-based effects are done extremely well and adds nicely to gaming experience. But as with most (all?) Blizzard games, the gameplay is what stands out. Like the first Diablo, Diablo2 doesn't put on any ears of what it is offering. Pure, unadulterated hack and smash. The levels are engrossing, the controls are intuitive (even for the 1st timer), the voice overs for the many characters you meet really bring you into the Diablo2 world. This game was well worth the wait.
