Rating: Summary: Blizzard is the best. Review: Diablo 2 is great. In the first act, you visit Tristam, the town from the original, only to find it's been destroyed. You get to meet old friends as well old enemies. You can hire mercenaries to fight along with you. Every different type of equipment changes the way your character looks. 5 character classes, which means you to play it with each character to actually say you completed them game. But then you can continue with the Nightmare and Hell difficulties. The 4 bosses at the end of each act look awesome(Andariel, Duriel, Mephisto, and Diablo). Especially Diablo. He's bigger, faster and has more surprises to make your life harder. The collector's editon is fabulous. The DVD that contains the cutscenes look fantastic. You can feel the presence of evil as you see Mephisto and Diablo reunited. My only real complaint is how the Battle.net servers re still unstabble. I guess the stress test was unsuccessful. One last thing, remember the rumor from the original, "the secret cow level"?, well, the cow level lives in diablo 2! If you weren't involved with any of the beta testing, you will be in for a big surprise!
Rating: Summary: Stick to the original Review: Wow! This was a huge upset. When i opened the package 2 days ago and rushed to install the game i was so excited. Then after i chose my character, typed in my name, and started playin i already noticed flaws. Bad graphics, bad sound, same old stuff. Inventory the same, story is basically the same. After an hour of playin it i was back playin halflife playin with my friends. The box, manual and game had "mysteriously" dissapeard only to be found in the garbage the next day. The only reason i gave this a 2 is cause, wait why did i give it a 2?
Rating: Summary: Multi player is horrible Review: this game could be good but blizzard was so unprepared for the launch there servers can't handle the load so you crash, become disconected, or can't even connect. You spen more time trying to play than actually playing.
Rating: Summary: Diablo 2 Review: What a great game. Blizzard has topped their previous masterpieces. The game flows more freely and the choice of 5 characters is awesome.
Rating: Summary: Diablo II - It's why I can't sleep at night. Review: As picky as I am about games, I can honestly say that this is one of my favorite games of all time. I don't think Blizzard ever put out a game I haven't liked. That being said, Diablo II is vastly different from its predecessor, Diablo in many ways, but in one disappointingly large area, it's almost the same. The gameplay has been simplified so everything is basically point and click. The commands are intuitive and easy to learn. The major improvements of this game are the 5 new character classes: The melee fighter Barbarian, the spellcasting Sorceress, the quick missile launching Amazon, the holy spellcasting/melee fighter Paladin and my personal favorite, the resurrecting Necromancer. Each has their own set of skills you develope as you progress throughout the four new and vastly larger stages of the game. If you thought Diablo was big, just the first act of Diablo II easily dwarfs it. You'll travel everywhere from forests to jungles to deserts. Each landscape is very well designed and looks fantastic. With this new item generation engine Blizzard added, there are now over 1 million magic items to be found. There are now also set items, which are magic items that, I'm assuming, when you collect all of the items in the set, you get a nifty bonus or something. The only disappointment to me was the graphics. They looked almost exactly the same as the origianl Diablo. Don't get me wrong, they still look quite good, but I was hoping for some improvement. All in all, this is a GREAT game. I highly recommend you get it, especially if you liked the orginal Diablo. The strategy guide isn't really necessary to me.
Rating: Summary: Fantastic Game With One Major Design Frustration Review: As a major fan of the original Diablo, I have to say that I am both thrilled and frustrated by Diablo II. Thrilled because it is essentially the same game only with more options (more character classes, more skills, larger levels, etc.). Frustrated because of one design choice Blizzard made that makes life tedious: unlike Diablo, Diablo II does not save the state of monsters and items in the dungeons. When you fire up a saved game, your character is back at the starting town for that Act, not in the middle of the dungeon where you left off. This may not seem like much, but it is an incredibly tedious change from the first Diablo for somebody who doesn't have a lot of contiguous time to play computer games. As a father of two kids, I do not have much time to sit in front of a computer, so I grab what time I can spare: a half-hour here, an hour there. Blizzard's design decision means that at least the first 15 minutes of any Diablo II session are spent just getting back to where you were. If you only have 30 minutes to spend playing, don't even bother booting up the game. Sure, they put in waypoints to teleport you around, but with the monsters regenerated you still have to spend a lot of time battling your way through territory you've already been through, and some of the waypoints are out in the middle of a level so that when you teleport in you're instantly surrounded by monsters. If you are playing a Sorceress character, like me, this is a potentially fatal situation that you would never have let yourself get into normally. Anyway, Diablo II is a great game. The graphics are excellent and more expansive than the first game. The sound is fantastic: awesome EAX 3D positional sound effects, believable voice acting, and outstanding music which is very similar to the original Diablo's music. If you can spare 3+ hours at a time to play the game, you'll love it. Otherwise, I think you'll find that it is still a really fun game, but a more frustrating than it had to be.
Rating: Summary: Great 1 player game Review: If you liked Diablo 1 and you arent buying this game to play online, then you will like Diablo II. This game isnt dificult, it just involves completing certain quests. After a while you arent really playing the game as much as you are just trying to run down the checklist of things you have to do. So its a great way to kill time I guess. I tried to play online but I cant stay on long enough to complete any of the quests. ...
Rating: Summary: Great Game! Review: Just when I had finally given up hope that Blizzard would ever release Diablo II, it arrived! I am not a big video game player, but I loved Diablo and Diablo II is even better. The plot is more apparent, making the game more RPG-like than a shoot-em-up. You have a lot more character control/ability to specialize your character than in many other games of this genre. Multi-player is more thought-out and established than in the first game, which is great. All in all, it's an intriguing and fascinating game! Addictive too :)
Rating: Summary: Deluxe edition review Review: Graphics are incredible and the monster and scenery variety is greatly improved. I am deep into Act III and am dreading the end of the game, but at least it is taking me longer than the day and half it took to finish Diablo I.
Rating: Summary: Good game, but DISAPPOINTING Review: Diablo 2 is a good game. That's it....a good game. After a 3.5 year wait, I was expecting a damned GREAT game. The story is uninspiring after playing the original....the art is dated, and the gameplay is not MUCH improved. If you are in desperate need of gaming (have already played the OTHER good games), get this game. If you're in the market for a GREAT game, buy Icewind Dale instead. You will not dislike this game, but great chances are that you will NOT love this game.
