Rating: Summary: Very Good Review: In my opinion this is a great game. A lot of people are complaining that the graphics are too much like the first Diablo. Well I am glad for that. My old computer is just good enough to hold this game on it and if the graphics were too much better and more dazzling, well I wouldn't be writing a review because I couldn't play the game. The story line is very good and so are the cinematics. No blocky jerky stuff on them at all. I haven't played any other classes other than the barbarian, which I beat the game with yesterday, so I cannot expand on classes, but the new skill trees are quite nice. And so are the quest boxes and the addition of way-points. The game has a few down falls to. The only way to save the game is to exit to. So instead of having the same option you have the "Save and Exit" option. Another down fall it that the monsters respawn when you leave the game. So if you are in a place with no way point near, but you have to go, you're going to have to work your way back to where you were before. The stash option is very nice, but there isn't alot of room. So stuff I'd normally just drop on the ground has to be sold or kept in my inventory taking up space. If I leave things on the ground, they will dissapear when I save and exit. Although this game is missing a few features I liked from the first game, it is still much harder and very addictive (until my eyes get droopy and I get a head ache from the screen) :) I think this game deserves the 5 stars I gave it. One thing: I got the Special Edition version of the game (the game itself is the same) and it came with a DVD that I cannot get to work on my DVD-drive. Any help?
Rating: Summary: Another Classic to add tothe first Review: With the same interface as the origonal, I really appreciated the familar hit keys, with the addition of new ones. The run feature as well as the alt key to see items on the ground make Diablo II a great game. It has 4 parts, each as long as the origonal Diablo, and a lot more challenging. If you like the origonal Diablo, I'd highly suggest purchasing it's sequal. If you havn't played it, and you like RPGs.... I would recommend trying it at least from a friend who owns it. Look on the box for all the need little things they've added, there's not enough room to mention them here... I'm very picky when it comes to sequals, and this one rose above my expectations.
Rating: Summary: Prepare to look at this screen for days. Review: I went out and bought this for my little brother, and quickly became addicted myself. The amazing gameplay is augmented by quality graphics/sound. It is extremely easy to lose hours at a time playing this game. Consider yourself warned. :-) The clerk recommended I buy the strategy guide, but I'm glad I didn't, because it's more fun to find out about the game yourself.
Rating: Summary: Aardvark killing at its most amusing Review: At last I gasped, at last a pseudo Aardvark hunting game with a free branded vial of speed as a gift. See the gore, love the splatter, bite the penguin. A most own for everyone, I dont even own a computer and am typing this review on my fridge....
Rating: Summary: Excellent game Review: I was one of the first true Diablo fans. Actually, I'm a fan of blizzard period due to their dedication to the fans in making an attempt to bring the best games to the most users. Diabo II is beyond all expectation. The graphics have improved, the sound is better, theirs more of everything, and its a heck of a lot larger. But that doesn't make it a good game. What makes it good is the storyline, which is one of the best ever created. The cut-scenes, the townspeople, even the non-interactive creatures that wonder around bring about a truly realistic gaming experience. With todays technology anyone can put together a game with good graphics and sound, but it takes something more to draw the gamer in and make him want to come back for more. The 4 stars instead of 5 is due to the steeper requirements which I dont think are acurate to the box. I can't imagine playing it on a 233. I have a 350 PII and experience slow down occasionally before a big sequence or when your hit with 30-40 bad guys. Minor drawback but it pound-for-pound the best RPG ever. BRING ON WARCRAFT III!
Rating: Summary: Wow....... Review: Don't listen to what ANYONE else says about this game being "the same thing all over again" or "virtually no improvements visually" They're all wrong. I have been playing Diablo 1 since it came out and I have to tell you, Diablo 2 knocks the socks off of the first.D2 is NOT the same as the first. Instead of 3 classes there are 5 BRAND NEW entirely different ones. The spell system is new as well. Each charcter has 50 different skills that can be modified at different levels. Thats over 250 completely different spells compared to the 25 that were available to all of the 3 characters in the first. Gameplay is still Hack and Slash, but there are added twists. First off, enemies stick together in groups and work together. The best example of this are the groups of Fallen (those whimpy little demons). In every little group there is a Shaman who can resurrect the memebrs of his group. So instead of charging in index finger clicking you now have to do some planning. There are all new items as well. Not only that but each regular item comes in sever varieties. You can have cracked, damaged, regular, superior and even more varieties of the same weapon. The status effects actually matter as well. This is only the TIP of the tip of the iceberg. Visually D2 is spectacular. It doesn't resemble the first incarnation at all. The backgrounds are dynamic instead of the monotonous backgrounds that only changed every 4 levels. The backgrounds are immensely detailed as well. The bitmaps for the characters are the ONLY problem visually. They are a notch up from the original but are still slighly blocky. Also the model gets updated for each weapon and piece of armor you equip. And finally, the cinematics can only be described as SPECTACULAR. The Intro looks real. The voices are better as well. My point is, BUY THE GAME. I am not being hired by Blizzard to publicize this or anything. I'm just a dedicated fan who actually OWNS the game.
Rating: Summary: Click Click Click Die Die Die Review: When I'm through with Diablo II, my fingers will be stronger than my biceps. Diablo II is a splendid game and a great workout!
Rating: Summary: Great Game with an intriguing storyline Review: Diablo II is a fine example of how RPG games should be made. I have never played the original Diablo before, so I can't really appreciate all the new additions to Diablo II. But I can tell you that Diablo II is an excellent game and I'm sure that if you purchase it, you will lose sleep and quality time with your family. I would recommend it to anyone.
Rating: Summary: More than I'd hoped for! Review: Instead of writing a review on how wonderful it is or how I love playing it, I'll just make it short and sweet. It is head and shoulders above its original predecessor, while yet staying simple. The RPG feel it has now makes it a completely different game, and the fact that it'll still run on my computer (albeit slowly) even when I don't have the minimum requirements means alot to me.
Rating: Summary: To battle or not to battle with Battle.Net Review: As a beta stress tester, I was encouraged with the initial phase of the Battle.Net Server. Since the release of D2, BN servers have been down more than I care for. The overall playability of the game is very intense and very very addictive. My right hand formed over the mouse so well after 12 hours of Single Player Mode that I thought it was going to stay that way. Once BN gets the bugs out, I will have to get a mouse implant and disconnect all forms of outside communications. This is a MUST BUY game!
