Rating: Summary: Is this even an RPG? Review: First of all, isn't an RPG where you "fill the shoes" of a virtual persona and "play them" in every way: interaction with virtual characters, a developing plot, personal goals, aims, ambitions and achievements, etc? Something like a good novel, or movie, perhaps, with "real" characters you become addicted to? Diablo II doesn't match any of this criteria...tell me how it is different from Hexen (which is definitely NOT RPG, don't you even tryto say so)? You adventure around, kill monsters, gain exp, get more items, and go kill more monsters, getting tougher and tougher monsters until you kill the biggest monster... So from what's up here, it looks like Diablo II is an *action* game, or an *adventure* game, but let's not slander the good name of CRPGs with this title. It in no way actually immerses you in a real virtual world, the same goes for Diablo. That isn't a reason to give it a bad review, though...we have to look at it from an action game perspective, though, instead of an adventure perspective. To start with, as many people have mentioned, we have the "incessant mouse clicking" which soon gets tiring. It may be enjoyable to some people, but I am not captivated enough by the battle scenes to overlook the mouse-clicking. The second point is the tiring "tried and true" strategies your characters come up with. You get the best weapons and/or skills, and go kill monsters all the same way, only changing your tactics when you get "bigger guns". This is not a flame against the players, who make a sensible choice in this, but a flame against the designers, who design their world to conform to this. Eventually, though, this bores me...run up to the enemy, cast a spell/slash a lot, and they're dead...then you can move on, and on, and on... But the reason why I gave this game two stars instead of one is the fact that the graphics are pretty good. It's a sharp looking game, and is very attention-grabbing at first...then you actually play it, and only the action/adventure fans can keep their hands on the mouse and not on the keyboard.... To top it off...if Doom is your game, Vas-y! But to those who play RPGs for the immersive plot and character development...it's best to play those games that *actually* feature it: Fallout and Fallout II (Not quite as much as others, but feature a lot of intelligent problem solving and world interaction with the character), Planescape: Torment (A truly awesome game), and others...which I will be playing soon but have not yet. Looking back at this list, I see that there aren't really many good RPGs in the world today...possibly because the RPG market is being hogged by action games in drag. I hope that more games come out that are truly worthy of the title RPG.
Rating: Summary: i've played much better Review: when i first bought the game i was very excited. when i first started i thought it was great. then as i got farther into i noticed the lack of an interesting plot. just click. click. click. if u want a true rpg, with plot,go for something along the lines of planescape:torment, or bg2. i gave this 2 stars for one reason. after having a true challenge in bg2(baldur's gate 2) it is a pleasent change of pace for about 15 min 2 just kill things
Rating: Summary: Awesome game! Review: Diablo 2 is not the type of game I would normally be interested in. I care little for RPGs in general, and am just not into the sort of medieval "swords and sorcery" theme of the game's storyline. However, I love Diablo 2. Few games have taken up as much of my free time as this one has. It is one of the most enjoyable and absorbing games on the market today.
Building your player/character is one of the highlights of Diablo 2. There are 5 character classes to choose from: Barbarians, Amazons, Sorceresses, Necromancers, and Paladins. Each of these is radically different from each other and provides an entirely different gaming experience. My favorite is the Necromancer: a spellcaster who can raise the dead and, among his other bizarre talents, explode the corpses of slain enemies in order to damage others standing near it. I don't know why, but seing this in action just never gets old to me. Each character also has 3 different skill trees, and gameplay varies even more depending on skills you choose to emphasize. Thus, an Amazon who specializes in the use of bows will play entirely differently from one who emphasizes the use of spears or javelins. Most character classes can also be crafted in a way emphasizes teamwork with other players online if you enjoy fighting alongside friends.
The graphics are a little dated and the storyline becomes repetitive, but who cares? It's gameplay that counts, and Diablo 2 contains hours and hours of it. I am just now, after many months of owning the game, beginning to tire of playing in single-player mode. Playing with other people online (plus the release of the Lord of Destruction expansion pack) has renewed my interest, though, and I think I will still be thoroughly entertained by this game for at least another year or two.
Rating: Summary: Repetitive ClickFest Review: At first, I thought this game was good. The graphics are not very visually pleasing but the lighting affects were very nice. There were several different characters each with their own abilities and such. But with each waking moment I grew more and more bored, and my mouse grew more and more worn out as all I basically had to do was point at something and click like crazy till it was dead, not very entertaining. To add insult to injury, the monsters I was encountering were pretty much the same old beasts with a new outfit on, and maybe a different attack or special ability. Sure, there are tons of collectable items, and Blizzard claims that the items you wear change your appearance (A half-truth as boots, gloves, and jewelry do not show up on your character). But you can only do the same thing over and over so much. The game's "quests" from what I've encountered are basically you go here, kill this boss and come back. Sure, there may be a few things you need to do, like a grab an item from point a, an item from point b, and put them in point c; but the basic premise still stands. The game has it's merits, they did spend a great deal of time making the full motion video cut scenes beautiful (ala SquareSoft), and there are alot of items, and the areas are fairly sizable, and the load times are next to nil (since the entire game is on your hard drive instead of on the cd like diablo 1). The install process is slow and requires you to swap several disks including one with large movies on it (you should have the option of not viewing movies in any game). But the uninstall takes mere seconds. Which leads me to believe the game doesn't get fully uninstalled. I also hear the multiplayer is very fun (which can make the worst games great). What honestly kills the game in my opinion? The constant need to click the mouse in a rapid fasion (the alternative is to hold the button down, which is just as bad), and the repetitiveness (which is also a major flaw in Phantasy Star Online). If mindless clicking is your cup of tea, then by all means pick up a copy today. But otherwise save your cash.
Rating: Summary: Gets Borning Review: The reason i gave this game 2 stars was the fact that u can only beat act 4 so many times. Sure, at first this was instantly my favorite game. But after about a month, there was nothing left to do. I had the best items in the game, i tore diablo a new one, and beat the thing on every level. I would recommend just borrowing this one from a friend, because it isnt worth playing for very long....
Rating: Summary: HOURS & HOURS OF PLAY Review: I have played this game for more that 1000+ hours, both single & multiplayer. BUY IT before you even consider another game. Trust me, Diablo 2 will keep you on your computer for days at a time.

Rating: Summary: WOW!!!! Review: Wow that game is addicting! I started playing and for some reason I didn't stop for like 2 months. So much stuff in the game your head will spin. Blizzard has really done it this time. A little different from the original Diablo but its all good. WOW! And the expansion is wow. WARNING! Game is highly addicting. ONLY play if you have a lot of time on your hands. Friends and family may look at you and friends weird when you talk about it for hours so...BEWARE!
Rating: Summary: I reccomend this game- but a few points Review: This is quite a good game, and I am addicted. My problem is balancing Tribes 2 and TFC, as well =) I like this game but I had a problem today. I got the game only a week ago, and I am a level 13 sorceress. I was out in the Dark Wood slaughtering some hapless Hungry Dead when two people, level 99 barbarians were talking: "where is she?" "hey *namehere* do u know where she is?" "Me?" I asked, and one of them said "yeah where r u" so I said "Waaay out in the Dark Wood". I had no idea the barb would find me, he did, and chopped me in half with his sword. He took my 5000 gold. I asked him 5 times to stop killing me, but he said nothing. After being slaughtered 6 times I finally found away around him and grabbed my stuff. I ran as fast as I could, but he found me and managed to hit me once. I ran out of stamina, so as quickly as I could I exited the game, mere feet away from his sword. I then started my own game and used half my health potions. So if you beware the jerks, Diablo2 is a very good game.
Rating: Summary: Awesome Game! Review: Get this game and play it untill your eyes fall shut. Wake up and play it some more! It is THAT good. Enjoy!
