Summary: Even better in 3-D!
Review: I played this game first on my Mac LC-III and loved it. It is still my favorite computer game. I just played this version on my g4 iMac and it's even better than before. This is the ideal game for people who don't want to shoot, kill, die, etc., but love solving puzzles.

Summary: iMac owners: BEWARE!
Review: If you have an older mac with a video or graphics card that is less then 16 MB, this game will not run on your mac. I have a slot-loading iMac G3 and I did not find out until I tried to play the game that my graphics card was not powerful enough. While the game still plays, just about everything is turned a pink color and most of the scenery is partially transparent. This makes game play very difficult and frustrating and at least one age is impossible to play. If you've got a 16+ MB graphics card, then go for it. This game is very fun. But if you're not sure or you don't, then don't bother.

Summary: For the Myst Fanatic or Newbie
Review: If you have beaten Myst, Riven, and Exile but still just can not get enough, buy this game. Real Myst is a technical departure from the first three because it is an actual 3D environment, similar to the one you would find in a first person shooter like Quake or Unreal Tournament. The sound and movie elements have been updated as well, but the storyline and the puzzles have not changed at all with one exception. They did bother to add another age, but it has nothing to do with the plot, is very small, and has one very simple puzzle. If you have not played Myst before, this is a better deal than "Myst: Masterpiece Edition." Myst ME was actually a technological leap backward from the first one, but that is another review. Real Myst is a novelty item for the Myst fan or a good way to experience it for the first time.

Summary: It's nice to go back...
Review: It's funny what ten years of technology can do to an idea. I know people are tired of new versions of Myst (Masterpiece Edition, Special Edition, DVD, sequels, etc.) but this one really the best. If your computer can push the pixels the game really moves ahead of the pack. It looks great, even compared with the more recent rerendered versions. It gives you a genuine sense of place that was missing from previous attempts, and it runs on my old G3 Mac.

Summary: Not so much
Review: really the game just isn't all that great to begin with. So when thy come out with the remake of the it and then add somemore levels and better graphics, you might think it is good? Wrong.
