Summary: The best in real time strategy
Review: While Blizzard Entertainment does not produce many titles, the games that they do produce are among the best in PC gaming.

Starcraft is the third series of Blizzard Entertainment games to be created, the others being Warcraft and Diablo. The game is a real time strategy game, where the player controls a number of military units in a series of battles to meet some objective, such as destroying the enemy or reaching a certain set of waypoints. Starcraft itself is set in a set of futuristic human colonies based on several extrasolar planets. The humans find themselves not only in a civil war but also in the middle of a war between the Zerg, a predatory, hive-like race that can assimilate other alien creatures, and the Protoss, a philosophical race with psychic powers ready to defend themselves and others.

Blizzard Entertainment has done a good job in creating some very good gameplay. A range of military units are available to the user, who can choose from among several strategies in completing his or her mission. While I have not tried the multiplayer option, I have played through the single player storyline, which allows the user to try playing each race and which varies the mission goals so that the user is always presented with frest challenges. The point and click interface is very intuitive and very easy to use, so any frustration in playing this game will be focused on the difficulty of the levels but not the difficulty in using the interface.

Beyond the gameplay, though, Blizzard has worked hard to make Starcraft exceptionally good at drawing players into the game. The storyline is well written and includes multiple plot twists that make players want to continue on through the next mission to find out what happens next in the storyline. The animated movies played between the missions are very well done. The artwork and music also create an excellent, chilling environment during gameplay. During the Terran (human) missions in particular, I found myself edgy about having hidden Zergs suddenly attack me.

In summary, Starcraft is the paradigm of what a real time strategy game should be. For those even vaguely interested in PC gaming who do not mind violence, I strongly recommend this game. I particuarly recommend it for those who have never played a real time strategy game but who want to try one and for those who particularly like real time strategy.

Summary: GREAT GAME
Review: Starcraft is by far the best game out there. There are just no games that can top it. Starcraft combines the two best features of video games: Strategy and Fighting. In Starcraft, you choose from one of three characters: Terran, Zerg, or Protoss. All of them are great. Terran's advantage is that with it, you can build better barriers so that the enemy cannot get to you as quickly. Zerg reproduces very fast, and can build armies that are huge in number. Protoss builds buildings fast, and has the most powerful armies. Each person has their own favorite, and no one is statistically better than the other.

One great feature about Starcraft is that you can play either single-player vs. the computer, or you can play multiplayer games against people on the internet. With the multiplayer games, you can create your own channel to play your friends. Also, in the multiplayer games, you can talk to your opponents and friends while you are playing.

Once you play this game, you will not be able to stop, and you will have so much fun with this. I recommend buying this game as soon as possible. You won't be sorry.

Summary: Good Or Bad
Review: This game is VERY fun!! The down fall is that people are hacking so be careful playing! Do not use cheats it makes the game less fun!!! The price is right buy it !!!! Brood War adds many more men to the game. One New thing is that Hurt men can be healed!! Both games are cheap and fun. The best part is playing on the internet!! Buy This Game!!

Summary: Multiplayer Bliss
Review: What can I say that hasn't been already stated? Starcraft is simply magic, the kind of magic you just want to embrace and show undying love until your untimely death. What am I saying? All these emotions just for a simple game? Yup.

Regardless of its againg software and graphics, StarCraft is amongst the best games ever crafted. It defines how multiplayer and singleplayer Real-Time Strategies are viewed as. Without a doubt, this game has set the standards and is an unrelenting force to be reckoned with.

It's very own single-player campaigns is superbly built and played in fun addicition. The choices of 3 different races adds to the depth of the gameplay. This ain't no Commmand and Conquer type of deal, this has 3 entirely different races that warrant totally mixed tatical playing. The Zerg are strong in numbers, the Terrans are reliant on their powerful and mobile aresenal, and the Protoss are just powerfully built and defensively hard core. You add up this puppies into the game, and what you have is an all-out war for the universe!

The Multiplayer option is where StarCraft shines the most, it harbors around relentless hours on the free B.Net or on your personal settings. I cannot resist nor will I ever get tired of playing StarCraft online. It simply recreation for the new ages. I, myself, see it as Chess or Checkers. It is a revolutionary classic that begs recongition everywhere. Awesome, simply awesome.

Now for a sequl, eh Blizzard. . .

Summary: Starcraft: Fun for Geeks AND Jocks
Review: Starcraft is wicked fun. You can be one of three races: Protoss, Zerg, or Terran. The expansion pack is awesome too. This game can be played in many ways. You can develop armies for large attacks or keep waves and waves of soldiers coming and eventually wipe out the enemy. In the expansion pack, the Protoss have a guy who can take over the mind of a worker from another race and have him create weapons and soldiers from his race for the Protoss. This game is a hell of a time for anyone. Plus it's really cheap.

Summary: One game... billions of dimensions
Review: Starcraft was released years before I am writing this review but is still one of the most fun games I've ever played. Actually this is one out of two of the only games I've ever rated as a 5-star game on Amazon.com. If you're reading this you're obviously looking into buying this game and finding out what it's about and such. Starcraft has so many dimensions that after years of playin im still addicted to the game.

Basically starcraft is a game that uses the same type of formula found in a Warcraft or Age of Empires type of game - you build a colony of units and buildings and attack your opponent. Starcraft lets you chooese from 3 races - Terran the human like race, Zerg the larva infested race or protos the highly evolved computer generated race. All of these races have units - all with there pros and cons. For example a Zerg Gaurdian can take out a whole terran defense of missle turrets but it cant attack air units.

SC's first mode is single player where choose your colony and you go through a campaign for each race learning more about the wars of the races and having fun while doing it. Also in single player mode you can play a custom match to practice your skills against the computer. Overall the gameplay is great but there seems to be one flaw. A term called rushing where the opposing team can take out in early colony in a matter of minutes. They can easily "rush" into your base (mainly protoss zealots and terran marines) and attack you qucik enough to kill you and destroy all of your buildings while your still just getting started. The blizzard team tried to slow down "rushing" by making updates to the game and making it so that a user can only take 12 units at a time while retreating, attacking etc. but it hasn't worked out to well.

Another mode (which is where you have alot of fun) is multiplayer mode where you go online and play with other people from around the U.S, Asia, UK (or wherever you live.) Once you enter multiplayer mode you'll have to pick a name and password. Once you're done with that you'll be put into a chatroom which is a great part to the game. When you dont feel like playing or if you just want to make friends in the game this feature has it. You can edit your bdy lists here, send friends messages etc (basically the whole aim sceanrio.) Another thing you can do in chatrooms is see how much your lagging (which ill explain in a minute.) Lagging is when your computer is to slow to keep up with the connection and u make everybody suffer from your slow computer. Dont worry though, people who dont have slow computers can drop slow players disrupting a game and game creaters can boot slow people or lagging players or... anyone they want. In multiplayer mode can choose forom a variety of types of games. From a comp stomp where you can =d a bunch of other people take on 1 to 6 or 7 computers to 3v3 no clutter games, and even down to 4v4 nr20min (nr= no rush but some people still dont listen to the rules.) In a multiplayer game you can ally in an ffa (free for all) bs (backstab) and so on. This adds demension to the game making it harder to know who to trust and who to believe. Games with diffrent rules and games called ums are made by starcraft players in the Campaign editor mode. That's right you can make your own game on sc. All of them are fun for the most part but some ums games you may never be good at.

Campaign editor is the final mode in the game. I've never realy explored it too much because I never wanted to make a bad game and then people tell me its a bad game lol. In campaign editor you basically make your own ums game. Its fun to a certain degree but I personally never got into it.

All in all starcraft is a fine release by blizzard. A classic game of its time that even today has thousands and thousands of players on them game at a time. Hope you go and buy it cause it's really cheap now and it's good!!!

Summary: Entertaining yet tedious at times...
Review: The cinematics of this game are really what make this game good. The voice overs are well done, although you can tell if you look hard enough where voice and mouth don't match. The ending to this game was thoroughly enjoyable I will admit, and worth all the hair-pulling and yelling when a mission fails, lol. If you enjoy strategy games... well, it was harder for me to think of strategy with fighting alien hordes, lol... however I can say that at times you stare at the screen awaiting an onslaught that never seems to happen, just as your about to fall asleep at your monitor... bam! Surrounded by a teaming mass of aliens! Enjoy, and don't forget the expansions available!
