Summary: really amazing views
Review: After waiting a very long time for the successor of Riven, the result is kind of amazing. The still images of Myst and Riven have been replaced with 360 degrees panoramic views. Even when viewing some animation, changing your view is possible. The worlds created are stunning. Especially Edanna, where you walk around in a huge tree, is very beautiful. It's like walking around in a jungle, you can almost feel the tropical temperature. As in the previous 2 games, you need to solve some strange "puzzles" to finish the worlds. Just keep your eyes open, and try combining the things you see or read in the diaries. After 2 1/2 nights of playing, I finished the game, and I must say it was a very nice experience. I'd recommend it to all gamers who like to play an adventure from time to time.

As for the system requirements: It worked fine on both my Thunderbird 900/Geforce2 and my PentiumII 300/TNT2, running Win98. So any system less than 3 years old with a decent videoadapter should be able to give you this very special experience.

Summary: Myst III: Exile
Review: This game was great!!!!!!!! I loved the new puzzles and the outcome this time got me. While with the first two games, I made the right chose, this one got me. I hope Myst 4 is in the works. It took me 4 days to complete the game, and I wish it could have gone on. Playing a Myst game is like reading, I can leave the real world for a while, and leave my troubles behind. Great stress reducer.

Summary: Lost in the mystification........
Review: So here I sit with enough computing power on my desk to run the space shuttle.......800 mhz., 128 mgb. ram, 20 gig hard drive but I cannot play Myst 3. Waiting for a patch......waiting for a patch.....waiting for a patch.

It's about to go back......too bad.

Summary: What a mess! Crashes your computer repeatedly.
Review: Save your money until they fix this nightmare! You can run SCANDISK on your hard drive anytime you want for free - and that's what you'll be doing ALL the time with this nightmare. I have a system that is at or above all the sytem requirements with a standard video card that runs tons of games using DirectX without incident.

Yet Myst 3 crashes all the time. It crashes when you try to restore a save game, it crashes when you try to run a new game, it crashes when you swap CDs. And once you do crash it takes a FULL re-installation of the game to run it again -- if you're lucky. The patch helps not one bit.

Maybe UBISOFTs new business model is to run a game company without the nagging, financial burden of an actual quality assurance department.

Summary: Disappointed as a Myst Fan
Review: I have a Sony Vaio, 866 mhz, 8 months old, and I too cannot play the game! It is extremely disappointing, because now my computer is in the shop because, as the company said, my computer is corrupted from the game. I don't know if I will be able to eventually play the game, as I need to reinstall Windows on my computer--maybe then it will work. Also, other games that worked fine before Exile was installed now give me error messages and crash. Hopefully this patch they are working on will be helpful to us disappointed Myst fans...

Summary: Not as good as Riven
Review: Though nice this game is not as good as Riven. The 360 turn around ability is nice, you can trace steam and electrical lines much easier than myst/riven but the graphics are many times inferior to riven. Some problems with the mouse pointer catching up to where it was moved. Overall this is a good game but no match for riven. The water animation is really bad except in shallow areas, it looks like they pasted a flat texture down and made it stretch and contract unnaturally. I would recommend waiting for the price to drop, and steer clear of the "collectors edition".

Summary: Watch out for system requirements
Review: I am a huge fan of the Myst series and have been waiting for this game for a long time. Unfortunately it is not supported by my Intel video card and does not work. Though my system meets the requirements on the box it still does not work. So buyer beware this game was promoted and released by Ubi-Soft. They rushed the product to market and they know it. I was told by their technical support that they will have a patch out within the month. No definite time was given. So if you purchase this game get ready to wait a month to play it. Isn't capitalism grand?

Summary: When it runs, it's great!
Review: I bought Exile two weeks ago. Though I have had some of the issues noted in other reviews, I was able to finish the game.

Having played all three Myst games, I felt that this was the easiest to play. I spent approximately 20 hours playing it. The endings for the Voltaic and Amateria ages were great. The only really difficult puzzle was the last one.

Overall, a great game. I really enjoyed it!
