Rating: Summary: Oh WOW! Review: StarCraft is the best strategy to date. The three species' very different strengths and weaknesses makes for diversified game play. Also, the computer AI is VERY different and displays some human nastiness, especially in finding that one weak spot in your defence, and sending a whole heap of troops to wallop you. Nobody but a fellow StarCraft player will understand the dread of spotting a cluster of Zerg Devourers homing in on the one spot in your city that DOESN'T have adequate air defence... or the frantic search for the little red lazer target after hearing the 'Nuclear launch detected' warning go of when you don't even HAVE nukes yet... Really, play this game. Then play BroodWar. Then play it all over again. This game will mercilessly invade your sleep pattern. You may even start understanding why 'You make me warp in a pylon' is 'n FUNNY pick up line for a guy...
Rating: Summary: THIS GAME KICKS BOOTY! Review: Man, i am addicted to this game! If you have an internet server (witch obviously you do) you can play it online it is sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo fun! I mean in what other games can u go around nuking people and then sending in massive armys and destroying them? And i know people who are like well command and conquer and warcraft are exactly the same. Well there not. It has a wider wange of units,, better maps, challenging missions it is the best game i have ever played.
Rating: Summary: The BEST of its kind! Review: I have played all of the Command & Conquer games, but StarCraft beats them all! To start with, the sounds and graphics are spectacular. The missions quite challenging and thuroughly absorbing. The player has the option of choosing from three distinct races, each having their own set of missions. This intriguing option makes StarCraft superior to any other game of this type. I do have some minor criticisms, however. The strategy guides included in the Battle Chest are cheaply printed. The black and white screen shots range from poor to altogether useless. Also, the animated faces of the speakers during mission briefings are somewhat puppet-like. I would have preferred human actors as in Command & Conquer.
Rating: Summary: Holy COW Review: Man, I can not get enough of these games. The RTS (Real-Time Stratagy) line of games is nothing compared to Starcraft and Starcraft: Brood War. You really have to think to be able to beat this. The computer sets traps, comes at you from every different angles, builds the right units at the right time. It's so great. And to top it all off, go on Battle.net and find some very interesting custom maps. I have quite a good archive and some of these map creators are AWESOME. The abilities you have in customizing these levels are astounding, and left up to the imagination. To put it short: Brilliant use of Computer AI, excellent creation schemes and objects, cool enemies and races, FUN GAME.
Rating: Summary: StarCraft Compendium Review: I prefer this game a very good game for you stratagy gamers out there. It has tons of stratagies for each race. You can choose three races. You can choose the versatile Terrans which I prefer because it's easy to remember the names and buildings are easy, or you can choose the powerful, psionic Protoss, or the horde, overwhelming numbering Zerg. This game is a stratagy game that is a very good game.
Rating: Summary: One of the best war-strategy games ever Review: Blizzard Inc. is a company that actually sits down with a game in production and does everything they can to make a good game. Starcraft is no different. Instead of the fantasy realm of swords and sorcery in Warcraft, Starcraft is a futuristic game on firearms and science. The story is superb and riveting on three races: the humanoid survivalist Terran, the insectoid feral Zerg, and the technologically psionic Protoss. You are thrust into the world as a commander of either race. The campaign editor lets you actually create your own missions with other players. The multiplayer of Battlenet is great where you can play over the net with even other countries like Korea, Austrailia, and Denmark. There are hardly any cons in the game. Only that it is quite tedious while moving like a squad of 12 marines in tight quarters. Not only is it a war game but there is missions where you have to infiltrate facilities with only a small unit of men. Brood War, an expansion, is also great with the arrival of new units and missions and the continue of the story. The small traits of the game are great also, like the unit portraits, the speech, the music, and the cinemas. If you are a fan of war games, Starcraft should be one of your top priorities in the game.
Rating: Summary: Great Value Review: I recently bought this product and I must say it was GREAT! I got the demo to this game and I loved it and decided that I must have it. The Starcraft game is about the battle between the Terrans, Protoss, and Zerg for supremacy. The expansion set, Brood War, is a continuation of the story. The included Prima's Strategy guides are very useful in winning the game (especially the cheats in the back ;-) )

Rating: Summary: Starcraft - going beyond Tiberian Sun Review: I heard that this game had garnered a good reputation, but until now it had never piqued my interest. There are so many games in the real-time strategy genre - you have classics like Age of Empires 2 and Command & Conquer, or total stinkers like Tiberian Sun. It's important to remember that Starcraft was created at least two years before Age of Empires 2. It's obvious that AOE2 borrowed some good ideas from Starcraft. The main one being those of unit limits. In Starcraft you have a 200 unit limit, so it's still possible to build a huge army. But you also have to balance that against the number of units you use to gather resources. Another unique feature of Starcraft is the totally different sides. It absolutely amazes me that a single game can have such diverse armies and yet still manage to be so well balanced. There isn't a single unit in the game that can't be neutralised by another unit - which is no mean feat, considering how powerful they are. The most interesting aspect to these units are their special abilities. Certain units in each race have special attacks they can use to neutralise or destroy an opponent. For instance, the Terran Ghost soldier can fire an EMP blast that can knock out mechanical units. Zerg queens can fire parasites, which attach themselves to enemies, allowing you to see whatever that unit sees. The Protoss have the Templar, a unit that uses a chain lightning 'psionic storm' to eliminate whole squadrons of units. There are certain features which I wish had been implemented. It's not possible to control the behaviour of your units (ie. setting them to guard or defensive mode, etc...). This makes it entirely possible for your entire massed army to chase after a single unit, when really you want them to stay in one place. Fortunately, a 'hold' command is provided, but I still would've preferred to give my units more advanced commands. The other annoying aspect is map size. It's blindingly obvious that the maps are too small when compared to the size of the units. Try leading a group through a narrow canyon - because there is so little room individual units will often take a different path to get to a destination. Starcraft's other strength is in it's storyline. I have never seen such powerfully realized characters like this in a computer game. In truth, there are no real good guys or bad guys in this game. Everybody has their own motivations for their actions. The sequential compaign design only strengthens this aspect. It's unfortunate that Tiberian Sun's Michael Biehn and James Earl Jones didn't have a script like this to play with. In conclusion, Starcraft is everything that Command & Conquer: Tiberian Sun wasn't. It has the best designed units of any strategy game. It has a strong storyline which is beautifully realised in the single-player missions. And the addition of StarEdit means you can create your own missions once you tire of the Blizzard approved ones. No wonder why this game has stood the test of time. However, the omission of advanced unit controls mean I have to deduct one star.
Rating: Summary: StarCraft: Excellent Strategy Game Review: This game is probably the best game made by Blizzard. I've played WarCraft and thought it was great-I was very mistaken. In comparison, it is nothing. Unlike most games, the three species in StarCraft have different strengths which must be learned as you play as all three. The storyline is just amazing; you really must know what happens next. The cinematics are great, and the battle chest allows you to just keep rollin (on to Brood War) after beating StarCraft. The gameplay is easy, and the troops are numerous enough to allow you options of victory. The multiplayer allows you to fight others while the scenario editor allows you to build your own maps. I was hooked to this game for months: the storyline will keep you hooked for about 2-3 months, and after that you can build your own maps and play via the net! It's a truly great space strategy game.
