Rating: Summary: How awesome "The Battle Chest" is Review: The DII Battle Chest is probably the most convinient item ever! DII is the most addictive game in existence. Once you get on you can't stop for at least three hours (my record). There are 30 spells for each character and so many items they can't put them all into one place. From The Triumphant Sythe of Shock to The Long Sword of the Leech DII has every kind of weapon. On top of that there is all the magic qualities that almost all items posses. Magic Elemental damage, extra life and mana are just a few of the magical properties an item can have. Then there are harder and harder monsters every level and quest. The spells charachters are capable of are amazing and devestating. Then the battle.net capablities are awesome as you team up with others players over the internet to complete quests and defeat foes. Then there is the random map generater that makes it different for each charcter. Once you manage to defeat Baal then you can do it all overr again and it will be different. This is definitely one game you can't beat in one night and have to get if you are going to get anything.
Rating: Summary: Best game EVER!! Review: Let me tell you what kind of gamer I am. I usually stick to baseball simulations (APBA, Strat-o-Matic, DiamondMind), and every now and then I will buy something kind of newfangled and cool. For example, until I purchased The Sims and Diablo II (DII)and Lord of Destruction (LOD) expansion last summer, the last non-baseball sim game that I had purchased was Civilization II. DII and the LOD expansion pack are the most addicting, intuitive games I have EVER played!! What makes it so great? The endless variety and the fact that the game never plays the same way twice. First, you get to choose from several character types: Amazon, Barbarian, Paladin, Sorceress, Necromancer, Druid (LOD), and Assassin (LOD). Each character is distinct in look and abilities, but what is even better, is that depending on the way you allocate your skill points (gained by earning points from killing monsters or completing certain quests), you can have several different variations of a character. For example, you could "build" a sorceress that focuses on Lightining-based powers, fire-based powers, or cold-based powers. The game (and from here on I'll refer to the game with the expansion pack) consists of 5 acts (chapters) in which your character must complete certain quests in order to move on. Each act consists of several quests, all of which lead to the final confrontation with an "Act Boss" (for example, Andariel in Act I, Duriel in Act II, Mephisto in Act III, Diablo in Act IV, and Baal in Act V). Along the way, your character will grow in abilities, and you are able to find or purchase equipment that will best suit your character's needs. This purchasing/finding equipment aspect is what sets DII/LOD apart from other games. It is really cool to come back from an adventure, enter town, and head to one of the equipment vendors. Their inventory is constantly changing, and you'll never know what you'll find from one trip to the next! Once you complete the game on "Normal" level, you have the opportunity to try on "Nightmare" level, which is quite a bit more difficult that "Normal." After "Nightmare" comes "Hell," which is absolutely insane, as the monsters gain more resistance to many of your attacks. The interface is so simple to learn, that you can flip through the handbook once, and start playing. It is SO EASY! To summarize, the multiple characters and their skill trees, along with the ever-changing inventories and three difficulty levels, combine to create a game that will never be the same, no matter how many times you decide to play. My goal is to take each character through Nightmare level and on into Hell level. So far, I've done this with a Sorceress, and I am getting close with a Barbarian. I spend so much time playing, that my wife teases me about it. She's given up trying to get me to stop, so as long as I meet my obligations (keep my job, do well in school, spend time with my son and wife), I can play whenever I want to . What a terrific spouse!!! If you like swords, sorcery, and shopping, BUY THIS GAME. It is a great entertainment value!!

Rating: Summary: Diablo 2 good to start with ----> QUICKLY becomes boring Review: Diablo 2 is good to play for the 1st time. There isn't much replay value after 1st time. Even each successive Quest gets more boring because it is a rehashed formula. Quest Formula from secret Blizzard QA research labs: Quest "abc" 1. find and kill x number of small monsters (or, more accurately, 'wade' through x number of small monsters) 2. meet big monster. kill it 3. receive item to advance to next Quest (ie. go to step 1.) What is amazing is the first time you play it it is fun because it is new and although there seems to be a lot of freedom in what you do, there is really no choice beyond choosing which way to kill a monster. There are no secret doors, environmental hazards like drowning or falling down a pit, traps (the 'traps' that do exist subtract some health every now and then <--that is it is to you after playing through the 1st couple of maps), no climbing, no riddles or puzzles, no environment interaction like searching shelves for hidden maps and switches. No mysteries or plot. No pissing in a well to poison it for the other characters (I mean it seems that way if you listen to the sound effect - it just hasen't been implemented). The only other remaining REAL POTENTIAL hinted at in Diablo 1 (utilizing tactics in battle) was destroyed because it is not tactical at all. Even in the last Quests the most powerful creatures roaming around are completely not dangerous and fieresome: about as much as a gibberling, perhaps, in Baldur's Gate. Diablo 2 may have had to happen this way though because it would be HUGE to make a true, interactive environment and mysterious, interactive and compelling story + Diablo 2. Blizzard has created a world engine where a unique wallpaper is pasted and all the monsters are dumped inside with one major, behaviour-defining flag (CHARGEANDKILLPLAYER = 1). Gameplay Gameplay (from secret Blizzard QA research labs): Gameplay 1. run onto different map 2. look at moving graphics on screen 3. click on moving graphics until they stop moving 4. collect treasure 3. go to step 1. The much debated RPG elements of Diablo 2 revealed: 1. click on people in town 2. __receive__ obligatory inane dialogue or skip and read Quest summary (in shorter more concise form than Quest "abc" above: "Find a and return to b" or, "Kill c") 3. gamble treasure for .00001% chance of receiving an interesting item Now if any of the big bosses had shown intelligence and followed you through the portal to where you kept retreating to recharge health all the time you ran out of potions. THAT would be interesting. But as it is you attack the big, fat end boss, recharge health, attack the . . . and repeat that cycle 10x for victory. Graphics quite good. ability to look at town characters and quest milestones as hires images would have been nice. You find the few pixels defining a characters features and the environments stops you relating to anything in the game (ie you subconciously thinking when running across a map - happens only once upon entry to map: "some purpley dark cave that looks vaguely jagged" "now im running in some icy cave with a fancy name i can't remember . . . cool" :| Next time round: "mm. . purple cave" and "cyan and blue cave. vaguely icy" Maybe if your character shivered and showed icy breath or had to wear furs, started slipping on ice, weapon freezing and snapping into shards, boots making crunching sounds, wading through snow then you may have appreciated that it was THE frozen river passageway. Also if you created firewalls and infernos that the cave would melt and snow and ice would collapse everywhere. Sound quite good where it is. needs much more to create immersive environment though
Rating: Summary: Diablo Kicks...!!! Review: I just got this game yesterday. I was an early birthday gift. This game is so fun, im allready a level 13 assassin. People who say this [stinks] are too weak to play this, or are jealouse that everyone else has it. I reccomend this to anyone who likes action rpgs and loves a hellish game. It is a bit funner to play online than it is to go single player. One couple even fell in love and got married just by playing this game (go to battlenet.com for more details) I hope they will come out with Diablo 3.
Rating: Summary: This game ROCKS!!! Review: The follow-up to the original Diablo game, Diablo 2 will provide even greater challenges than the original. Although the game does seem to drag on at times, the graphics and speed of the game make up for it. With five new character classes to explore, plus another two in the expansion set, the possibilities for character generation are endless. I would heartily recommend this game to any one who loves a challenge.
