Summary: Pretty Good...
Review: I just got this game yesterday on Christmas morning. I played it instantly because me and my friend always play it at her house. Well, I didn't have to install it because we brought my friend's game over here and installed it here too. That way, when I got the game I wouldn't have to. Overall, the game was pretty good. I mean, it gets boring after at least an hour of gameplay and in the morning if your sims have jobs they only have a minute to take a shower, have a quick breakfast change for work and get out the door by nine. Also, WARNING! Zombies DO come out of the ground. They are all green so yu know what to look out for. Luckily they dont eat your sims brains but they do try. I found that out while my sim jessica was mourning at the graveyard next to their house.

Summary: Interesting, GOD game
Review: If you're into GOD games (games where you create and destroy life at will), this is a good game.

Stick with THIS and not all of the extensions and additions.

Summary: The Sims
Review: Wow I was expecting to love this. Unfortunatly that didn't last long. The problem is that there isn't enough time in the Sim's day
to do everything they need too. To keep my Sims going to work and paying the bills they got behind on socializing and got so
depressed that they wouldn't answer the door when a visitor came over.

The real problem is that if left alone they would never do anything that they needed to (like work), so you can't leave the game
going overnight unattended - like other Maxis games.

Summary: So glad its for Mac too!
Review: I love games where you have to plan, where you get to play "god," and where you get to watch the tiny choices play out in grand ways. "The Sims" allows you to do all three. Ok, I don't play fair, I use a cheat code to get more money for my Sims but my goal is to have fun and more money can equal more fun at least in this game. The choices in clothes and careers are a bit limited (they improve that in expansions and you can find things online but its difficult for Macs). What I really like is that I can build my own homes and try and make human connections. Sometimes the game is a bit boring but you can let the Sims live on their own, you may not like what they do but I've noticed that if you "train" them long enough they do fine but probably won't improve their jobs or friendships much. There is some glitch that wiped out my upstairs of one home -- suddenly my Sims can't use their stairs at all so the children's rooms are useless. If anyone knows what might be wrong, please let me know; I've add "Livin' Large" and "Hot Date" but still can't use that stairs!

Summary: Cute But Limited
Review: Once you have used just about all of the creative choices you can make in designing a house and once your little Sims family has achieved all of its goals and has wealth there really isn't much else to do except leave the game on all day, come back later and check to see what catastrophe has occured. Depending on your own sense of humor, this can be pretty funny.

Summary: At the risk of sounding repetitive....
Review: This game is great! It nurtures the control freak within. Some tips for newbies:
Some reviewers are complaining that sims will sometimes end up peeing on the floor, even if they have toilets. That's not true if you click on the toilet and select "use" (Just make sure they flush if you didn't give them too many "neat" points, or the toilet will get clogged. It's the same deal there, if they didn't flush, "flush" will be one of the options the next time you click on it.)
Get a maid and gardener first thing, it's really not that expensive and it saves lots of time.
Make your sims paint a lot. They have fun, their creativity goes up, and the more creative they become, the more money they bring in by selling paintings. Other non-conventional ways of money making include buying and selling artwork (the only things that can INCREASE in value) or getting House Party and buying the the slot machine (odds of winning 1:10; the less fun your sim is having, the better your odds.)
A fun way to get quick cash if "rosebud" doesn't work is to create a sim that you don't care about, then have that sim fall in love with marry another sim (the one you DO care about.) The sim you DO care about will then be about 20,000 simoleons richer. Then build a pool. Make the sim you don't care about get in, then remove the ladder. The sim in the pool will be unable to get out and will eventually drown. You can then sell their tombstone for 5 simoleons, (but if you have moral misgivings, the sims will occasionally stop by the stone to mourn, which brings down the Social bar, and there is a chance every night that the sim will rise at midnight and haunt the house!)
Trees, hedges and topiaries don't need to be watered, so just fill your garden with those things instead of flowers and you won't need to hire a gardener.
If you get the expansion packs, install them in the order that they were released.

The main problem with this game is that there really aren't enough house design options or skins to express your creativity. Happily there there are expansion packs and downloads to help you.

Summary: Oh. My. Gosh.
Review: Do you have a God complex? Did you spend your entire childhood playing with dolls and/or action figures? Do you have some time to waste? Good.

This game is endless fun. So endless, in fact, that I'm still addicted to it after more than a year--even WITHOUT the expansion packs (although I did download some skins off the Internet--they're hard to find for Mac users but they are out there).

You pick a family from 1 to 8 people, you build their house, you get jobs for the adults and send the kids off to school, you control how they interact and what they do, you...

...realize it's five in the morning and you've had to go to the bathroom for seven hours.

One funny aspect of this game is that there are only three types of people in it: adults, eight-year-olds, and babies. They totally left out toddlers, teenagers and old people. Those difficult ages :)

I highly recommend this game IF you have time to kill. It's the most fun and enjoyable computer game I have ever played. Otherwise, stay away from it as it is far, far too addictive.

BTW, I've played the Windoze version too and I think the two are identical--at least I haven't noticed any interface differences. But, of course, Macs are better. :)

Summary: Oh. Wow.
Review: There is one reason, and one reason only, why I wouldn't give this game as many stars as you could believe.

The reason is that I was introduced to this game a YEAR ago and I STILL haven't stopped being glued to my computer. I haven't even bought any of the expansion packs. The original is still intriguing me.

Buy and play this game if you want to have fun AND you don't want to have a life outside of Sims.
