Summary: A 12 year old girl review
Review: This game is the BEST! When i was in sixth grade, my teacher played it with the class for about 20 min. Ever since i have been searching for it. This is the best! It doesnt seem like your doing math or anything like that at all, no matter what they say. BUY THIS GAME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Summary: learning without trying
Review: For a patient child, my eight year old stayed on this game for several hours. It teaches math and logic skills without the child feeling like they are being taught. The game offers rewards along the way for acheiving partial steps and allows creative play for each adventure. It also allows for partnering during the game as we played together to solve the puzzles. Not a heavy handed teaching program.

Summary: Uses 24-bit Color ONLY
Review: Do NOT buy this product unless your PC specifically supports 24-bit color! This software would not run on any of my three PC's. If your PC has 32-bit color I don't think this software will work on your PC unless it also supports 24-bit color. Unfortunately, all of my PC's have the better color but do NOT support 24-bit color. This is not industry standard. Standard would allow use of the higher color albeit with a minor hit on performance.

Not sure if your PC supports 24-bit color? Right click on the empty desktop. Left click on properties. Left click on the settings tab. Under colors, see if (24 bit) color is listed. If it's not, you may be in trouble.

This is the only software out of dozen's and dozen's I have purchased that I cannot get to run on any of my PC's. My recommendation to anyone would be to borrow a copy and try it before you purchase. I am extremely disappointed in this software!!!

Summary: zoombinis mountain rescue
Review: My children loved Zoombinis 1, and were delighted to find Mountain Rescue in their Christmas Stocking. What a disappointment. After three weeks of trying we have only been able to get as far as the title page when the program crashes and we have to press the "reset" button and restart the computer. Communication with Broderbund/Learning Co has proved unhelpful as so far they have only come up with the standard advice of update drivers, delete temporary files, close down unnecessary programs etc. Three weeks after Christmas Day my children have still been unable to play with their present. A big thumbs-down so far, I'm afraid. I would be interested to hear if anyone else has had the same problem - particularly is they have managed to resolve it!

Update - it's now April - nearly four months after Christmas - and we have got no further with playing this. Other friends have tried it on their PC's with the same results. Borrow it first, before spending your money!

Nearly the end of August now - and still trying. Keep visiting support to see if any patches come out (they haven't) and updating drivers to see if that makes any difference (it hasn't).

Summary: Excellent game!
Review: Zoombinins Mountain Rescue may not be quite as good as the original title, only because it is a bit more challenging, but it is still an excellent game..far, far better than most games out there! We own the original game, and sure, it is easy to get attached to it. The truth is, this new game is enormously educational and worth every penny. The graphics are better, but that's not as important as the fact that the logic puzzles are just as outstanding if not better than the original. This game is better for kids about 9 and up, while the original one could be played by kids a bit younger.

Summary: Think BEFORE you buy
Review: Our family has eagerly anticipated the new Zoombinis Mountain Rescue because we loved the original Zoombinis so much. Mountain Rescue has been a big disappointment. Some of the games are difficult to understand based on the instructions given. Even the very easy levels are hard for my children. This was not the case with the last Zoombinis. There seems to be alot of hesitation on the computer both during and after completing some games. Even the voice of the narrator sounds as if he is bored. The graphics are good, but everything else that made the first one wonderful is missing. I would stick with the first one if you haven't already gotten this one.

Summary: ZOOMBINIS!
Review: Zoombinis is the greatest game in the whole universe! I used to play it sometimes in my class at school, and I was so addicted, my teacher was always scolding me for staying to long on the computer! With practically a million kinds of Zoombinis, and many ways the game gets different and more challenging, I'd give Zoombinis 4 thumbs up! (If I were a chimpanzee, that is-they have 4 thumbs) I think anyone getting Zoombinis has no idea what they are getting into.. >(o.o)<

Summary: Repetitive but Unique
Review: This game is an interesting way to teach critical thinking, but it gets very repetitive very quickly since it is pretty short, and once you finish one skill level, the next level is the same old thing with just a bit more difficulty each time. I got tired of doing the same puzzles over and over, it would have been nice if each skill level had a new set of puzzles.

One good thing about this game is it works on both Windows machines and Macs, although the second Zoombini game, Mountain Rescue, does not work on Macs.

All in all, a cute game, but likely to be tired of quickly.
