Description:
Microsoft Excel is a popular data-analysis program for the Macintosh. Excel 2001 for Mac makes it easy to integrate the strengths of FileMaker--a popular database application for Mac--by allowing you to import data from FileMaker Pro database files directly into Excel worksheets. Simply drag a FileMaker Pro file from the finder to Excel, and the import wizard helps to select the database records to import. Once the data is imported, you can easily use the versatility of Excel to sort, filter, format, analyze, and chart your information. You can even refresh the data inside Excel at any time to reflect the most recent changes made in FileMaker Pro. Excel 2001, like all Office 2001 for Macintosh applications, features an elegant new interface in true Macintosh style. The toolbars and icons have been redesigned and simplified. The program continues to improve on Microsoft's support for key Apple technologies. Excel 2001 anticipates the intent to create a list and automatically offers to convert the cells into a manageable, sortable list. Also, a new Total Row command adds a row at the end of a list to calculate such information as the sum or average of the data in a particular column without having to run a separate feature. And, if you're a new spreadsheet user, you'll appreciate the new Mac-only Calculator, which displays formulas in Excel 2001. The calculator-style interface makes it easier to create simple formulas, link to other cells, and use precompiled functions to help you do your work.
