Summary: I USE PS 7, and highly recommend JASC PSP 7
Review: As a Photoshop user I recommend this Jasc to advanced
amatuer photographers/computer users who want a great imaging tool.

My first photo specific software was Jasc PSP ( a
much earlier edition).

Summary: My conclusion - Kinda Useless
Review: Well, what can I say? I bought this product thinking it was an easy solution to handle images on my hard drive. The thing is why I tried to open JPEGS, GIFS even Bitmaps most of them weren't recognised in Paint Shop, regardless I selected all file formats. Oh another thing, this product is dangerous when you select all file formats, it even took over my Corel Draw files, even webpage documents, I said to myself what is going on here. When I tried to open those Corel Draw files in Paint shop it gave me an error saying it was not recognised, come on whats happening here?
You know what I suggest? Buy a product thats actually dedicated and good at what it does, "handling images", I did not ask for it to handle CAD, Vector etc... A matter of fact whats the sense in spending the money when you already have a product that does the same thing with ease of use and simplicity. Microsoft Office already comes with the excellent Photo Editor and who doesn't have Office? Save the money and buy a product that does what its meant to do. If you want a product that really works, buy Photoshop Elements or Picture It! Digital Image Pro or stick with Photo Editor, plus it has a lot of editing tools.

Summary: Great program, amazing graphics
Review: I highly reccommend this program to anybody that has some basic graphics/html knowledge. I bought this program after everybody had said it was what they used, and reccomend. I had no knowledge of graphics or html at the time and I was overwhelmed with the program and put it away for a few months. Later I took it out and played around for a few days and I started to gradually figure things out. Even now I still don't know how to use many of the other wonderful features, but I know tons about the program. It's easy to use (once you learn) and makes wonderful graphics for webdesigning or whatever you are planning on using it for. I gave it only 4 stars because it's hard to learn how to use unless you read tutorials, get a little help at first, or play around for a long time without getting easily frustrated.

Summary: If I can do it, you can
Review: I am computer illiterate and I was able to use this software in minutes! It is extremely simple to use, from doing basic photo editing to things that will probably take me years to discover. The software comes with extremely user friendly manuals that take you through a step by step process. This is something that beginners through advanced users will benefit from. I highly recommend this product.

Rating: 2 stars
Summary: Not a user-friendly piece of software
Review: This product is very awkward to use. It's hard to manipulate images, and you usually don't get what you expect. I would not recommend it.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: best balance of ease power and price
Review: Only adobe photoshop has more power but that last few percent of features would be used by high end pro's. Psp is easy to use many time saving innovations can do anything including animation, about 1/10th the price of photoshop.

Rating: 4 stars
Summary: Does everything and then some.
Review: I purchased this item after talking to several people. It will do basically everything. The only drawback to this product is that it is very advanced. For someone like me who has never had a photo editing program, I'm finding it difficult to find the "quick fix" for my photos. Oh, and the manual is one and a half inches thick and makes for some very dull reading.

Rating: 4 stars
Summary: Very, Very Good Image Editor...but it needs an update
Review: I really like PSP7. It's much cheaper than Photoshop and does most of what you need. I've never had a problem with it crashing, and I've used it with Win98 and XP systems. That being said, the program needs some updating. It does not support saving EXIF data. It will read it, but once your correct and re-save a photo it wipes out the Exif header. The support for color management needs to improve as well. It does support basic profiles, but I'd like to see a better set up utility like Adobe's. Also, the Browser function is just Ok.

But don't get me wrong, it's great for more intermediate/advanced photo editing/correction. I use it all the time. I just got a nearly-free copy of Microsofts Digital Image Pro 7...whoa, what a clunky pain in the ***. I'd use PSP7 over Microsoft any day.

One more thing, Media Center comes with the Anniversary Edition of PSP7. It's very, very outdated. If you're looking for a great image organizer, try ACDsee or Compupic.

Summary: This program is hard to rate but I give it the full 5 stars
Review: Paint Shop Pro is a hard graphics program to rate. Why? The price implies "Hold you hand, beginners will love it, easy to use simplicity" but the program itself is not quite that way. PSP 7, like PSP 5 and 6 before it, is more like a poor man's Adobe Photoshop. It *can be* easy to use once you invest a few hours in learning the interface but it can also be capable of the most complex operations on your graphics (requiring multiple steps) to the point that it can nearly replace the (7X more expensive) PhotoShop.

Need support for pressure sensitive graphics tablets? It's in there. Need filters? It's likely in there and if it isn't, there are tons of after-market filters that will work. Need to touch up photos? With a little practice, you will be doing pro-level work.

If you want a program that is kindergarten-easy, this isn't is. If you want a program that is powerful, has a learning curve that beginners can get a grip on and has a wide user base offering tons of support (check Usenet and Google!) and is *almost* as powerful as the 500 dollar PhotoShop, grab it now. JASC Paint Shop Pro 7 AE will not disappoint.

Summary: Only Imaging Tool I own.
Review: PSP is the only imaging tool i own, and use. As a webmaster I have learned and grown with PSP over the years from its predecessors. Learning any tool can be difficult, and as a person who has learned this one as well as Photoshop 5 and 6 i would suggest that unless you are looking for a job in the imaging industry, you should buy and use this tool.

PSP is great. Anything you need to do is attainable and far and away the best source for doing any number of functions to your images.

IF you are job hunting: i suggest you learn Photoshop. Most professional shops with business directly related to their product or service will require or demand that their employees use Photoshop. If you're just looking for a cost-effective, easy tool to use to touch up photos of the kids, or have the free-rein to use any development tool of your wishes at the office this is the tool for you.

Although Photoshop is touted as the "best in the business" when it comes to imaging, i might say to that, that i've been doing fine in this industry for years, and have always used the PSP line of imaging. There is definitly room to stretch in this program (for those advanced users).
