Summary: VideoWave Movie Creator - A Major Disappointment
Review: I purchased this product with the intent of converting old VHS family movies to DVD. I found this product to be very difficukt to work with even tho I have an excellent computer. Specifically this product runs very slow, caused my home network to crash repeatedly, does not allow you to insert chapters, instead requiring the making of individual movies. It required three DVD disks ($$) to copy one full VHS tape of 2hrs and 15 min.Avoid this product even if it comes with rebates and discounts.

Summary: Buyer beware
Review: I received this as a Christmas gift so that I could edit video from me digital camcorder. It didn't come packaged and I didn't have directions. I found the product easy to use and it produced a nice result, but the technical part of it was frustrating and the technical support is non-existent.
Their attitude is "It is not our problem and tough luck."

First of all, the program would not recognize my camcorder with was attached with a USB cable. All the capture icons were grayed out. Then after restarting, it thought the camcorder was a webcam but still wouldn't capture video. I ended up capturing the video using a simple program and then saving it and loading it into Videomaker, which was a lot of extra time.
We then created a very nice video for a presentation and it was easy to use. We were able to burn it onto a CD but the quality was grainy. A few days later, I got a DVD/CD-RW drive. I tried burning the same project onto a DVD, but now it won't recognize the DVD-RW drive. So, I now have a video editing program which has all the capture video options grayed out and all the transfer (disc burning) options grayed out. It is useless. I tried contacting Roxio for support thinking there must be something I can do to get the program to recognize the camcorder and DVD drive. But the support was non-existent.
So, buyer beware!

Summary: What a rip off?
Review: I used EasyCD and DirectCD before. They seemed pretty good, so I'll give this a try. What a nightmare! When I installed on my Sony Vaio running ME, it crashed it twice with the blue screen errors. After a few failed attempts, I had to update the O/S, uninstall/reinstall a couple time to get rid of the problems. OK, blame it on my machine and Microsoft. Now, it runs, but buttons do not work when I click on them. After all this and I can't use it. I got frustrated, so I went to Roxio's website to contact technical support. But they need the TSID # (Technical Support Identificaiton Number), which came with the software. But, their support site doesn't recognize it and say it is invalid. ... Think twice before buying this junk.

Summary: nice product!
Review: I usually use Magix's Video DeLuxe 2.0 but this is nice for something different. It's much easier than full editing software, but still more flexible than some of the more basic programs out there (like Pinnacle's Expression). The wizards work well and you get a decent music video for most occassions (don't try that with video that requires audio in synch, though!) My only gripe is that some of my MPEGS are not compatible in this software and it re-encodes all of my video that is already encoded. But for a beginner package or something to inspire new ideas, this is a super piece of software!

Summary: Just a little more than basic video transfer, but lacking
Review: I was very disappointed with this software after reading other reviews. First it is limited to story line editing only. There is no real movie time line editing in the package. You can do individual segments but not the movie. Very little capabilities in audio tracks plus it often generates errors here using audio tracks over the entire movie instead of just a section of time specified. The worst part-it would not create a DVD unless I upgraded (separate purchase) my easy CD creater software (this came from technical assistance). Technical assistance is a joke from website to phone system. The only real saving grace is the ability to strip audio from an individual clip.

Summary: VIDEOWAVE IS GREAT
Review: I will say that I have an older version which was the MGI videowave 4 .But it is an underapreciated product.I believe that it is because only recently have people been getting PC's powerful enough to run it correctly.I had some problems at first but after uping my RAM to 512 mg and a capture drive its perfect.this program is easy to use and you can do basicaly anything you see in hollywood TV done within this program.it even has a blue screen key to ad special effects shots.its simply has to be run on a fast computer like any other editing program. it is an entry level program of course but I have used Adobe premiere and a mac with Final Cut Pro and I must say I would rather use this than any of those for the most so far even though those have there place. You can do alot with it Artisticaly It is like photoshop with layers of effects and you get a full preview before rendering and it renders fast so you can have a video done instead of a hassle. The only weekness is no quicktime support and the titler is a little amatuerish looking. With this videowave and a digital cam you have no excuse not to turn out the coolest movies you have had in your mind all those years

Summary: Works with Sony Camcorder
Review: ImageMixer v.1.5 software came bundled with my Sony DCR-TRV350 digital 8 camcorder. I purchased VideoWave because ImageMixer would not write to my PC's CDRW drive. VideoWave has worked vey well importing video via the firewire link, and I have been able to make satisfactory VCD's. I did install the free upgrade for VideoWave before making any movies. The learning curve was short. I highly recommend VideoWave.

Summary: Roxio Videowave movie creator
Review: It has a nice user interface - too bad it doesn't work! It crashed several times on installation. I called tech support and they gave me a couple of suggestions. Those didn't work either. The technician said he would send me email with more suggestions. So far I have not received the email. Called tech support a second time. A different tech discovered that there is a Microsoft .DLL file that is buggy. He told me where to get a fixed .DLL off the web from Microsoft. This time it did install successfully. Everything went fine until I got to the part where it burns a CD. The program crashed there. I tried is several more times using different CD write speeds from 2X to 12X. They ALL crashed. I suppose it really doesn't matter, but this is the slowest writing CD software I have ever seen. (Doesn't matter because it didn't finish anyway.)

Summary: Depends on your Situation
Review: Let me elaborate. I'm one of the lucky ones (judging by the other reviews here), who hasn't had any technical problems. Installation, usuage, etc...all fine. That being said, if you CAN take that out of the equation, it is the best editing software I've tried thus far.

Windows Moviemaker stinks comparatively (Gee, no DVD support?!?), and Sonic DVD has less options.

My minor complaints involve not being able to add two text streams in one scene (only one per scene - boooo!), and that you cannot have an entire audio file play throughout the scenes (in other words, you have to splice between scenes, the audio file - a major pain!).

However, on the flipside, you can create your own titles, add your music, credits, etc..for a pretty decent job.

I got it for free via rebates, so I really can't complain. So, would I buy it? Absolutely....
