Summary: USEFUL AND PRACTICAL
Review: THIS REVIEW IS WRITTEN BY ONE WHO IS AN ARABIC MEET-UP COORDINATOR AND TEACH ARABIC ON A VOLUNTEER BASIS TO ARABS. I THINK THIS CD IS DEFINITELY USEFUL FOR IMPROVING YOUR RECOGNITION OF THE LANGUAGE, AND THE SOUNDS OF THE LANGUAGE. NOW IT IS NOT THE END ALL AND BE ALL OF LEARNING ARABIC. YOU WILL NEED OTHER MATERIALS LIKE A BOOK... I USE THE 100 WORDS AND THE READ AND SPEAK ARABIC FOR BEGINNERS FOR MY CLASS. I HAVE YET TO USE THIS CD BUT ONE OF MY STUDENTS HAS IT AND LIKES IT.... I HAVE CHECKED IT OUT AND LIKE HOW IT TEACHES YOU TO SOUND THINGS, HAS A GAME TO SEE HOW WELL YOU REMEMBER...

Summary: This is the one
Review: Arabic is a pretty tough row to hoe for anyone whose previous languages are romantic. I've tried a couple of these CD-ROMs and this is by far the best. This is the one to get.

Summary: not for serious study!
Review: I bought this program not expecting much because of the low price and my expectations were correct. This program seems to be designed for a person who wants to learn a few Arabic terms that would be useful a couple weeks before traveling to an Arab country. It is definitely not a serious student of the language especially because it does not even use the Arabic script! It just transliterates Arabic words into Roman script.

Summary: average
Review: I give this CD series an average rating. initially i was quite disappointed because there was not an accompanying book to learn script. however, while the information is quite basic, it provides a good foundation for further study.
One should note though, that while the tapes do not specify, the instructors teach the Lebanese dialect and slang without also teaching proper arabic.

Summary: Great intro to Arabic
Review: If you are comfortable using computers, and you want a fun way to learn very basic arabic words and phrases, this is an excellent program for the money. Areas covered include numbers, colors, food, countries, shopping, etc. Fun quizzes and matching games as well. I recommend any of the Instant Immersion language cd's.

Summary: Can't Wait
Review: While I haven't used this course yet I have used the Spanish immersion course offered by Topics Entertainment (Talk Now! etc.) and the course is great. It's a lot of fun to play the games and is very educational at the same time. It's helpful to both beginners and those who already have a working knowledge of the language. While I already have a strong background in Arabic, I am excited to have this CD set to augment my other materials...for review and language maintenance. It's definitely a must have and the price is certainly right.

Summary: Good starting point....
Review: While this program isn't going to teach you the Arabic alphabet or any written script it is a good introduction.

The most useful portions of this program help you learn numbers and colors. Plus you can learn some other helpful phrases, or maybe ask for directions.

If you don't want to spend a whole lot of money on some of the other programs out there and want to get a basic feel for the language this is a great alternative.
