Summary: REALLY REALLY COOL!!!!
Review: I think Catz5 is a REALLY cool game!! I mean, my friend has Catz2, and I thought that was cute, but then Catz5 came out and it surprised me greatly!!! I mean, I went from only 1 playscene and a "toy shelf" to having kittenz and multiple playscenes! And I also think multiple litterz are awesome!!! For those of you who like the idea, buy it or rent it!! You know that you can always return it if you don't like it!!!

Summary: Catz 5 'downgrade'
Review: If you want the software to play with and interact with the Catz, I guess it is okay. However, I purchased Catz 5 primarily for the screensaver (my previous version would not run under Windows XP). Much to my surprise, the screensaver will not run unless the CD is in the CD drive! My two previous versions did not have this requirement. When I contacted UBISOFT by phone regarding this asinine requirement, they refused any consideration of a refund, telling me it was the developers' decision (but of course there is no way I can contact the developers). They blew me off without assistance of any kind! It is my recommendation to not purchase this product 'downgrade'. They do not care about their end-users and do not deserve to have our patronage! I, personally, will never buy another UBISOFT product

Summary: New users, Buy it! Upgraders have another option
Review: If you're new to the world of Petz, by all means go for it. you'll love it. However, it seems that more than a few people have Petz4 and are buying this just because they have Win XP, which theoretically will not run v.4, even in compatability mode. If that's your only reason, there is a software patch available so you can run Petz4 with XP. Just do a web search for Petz and it's easy to find the download.

Summary: Catz 5 Not What We Expected
Review: Just a friendly warning to all CDR/CDRW/DVDR/DVDRW drive owners. UBI Soft as a "feature" on their PC software that prevents installation from any drive with write capacity. Why they feel that's a valid anti-piracy measure, and why they don't mind blowing off an entire segment of the market, is entirely beyond me, but that's not the point here. Call UBI Soft tech support BEFORE buying this or any other PC game from them, and check to make sure whether or not you will be able to install. Software (such as Chessmaster 9000) doesn't come with a warning on the box (in "some" cases, they claim -- I haven't found a single box that does), nor is there a warning on the Amazon product pages (short of reviews like this). One could speculate that they're perfectly happy to let people buy their software knowing some won't be able to install it, but I'll leave their motivation to give no warning to consumers to your imagination.

UBI Soft's tech support has said that this "feature" extends to *all* of their PC titles. So fair warning, particularly to folks with laptops where DVD/CDRW drives came standard, ask before you buy. Perhaps if enough people have a problem with this flawed policy, UBI will smarten up. "Flawed" because limiting installs to drives without write capacity isn't going to slow a determined game cracker/pirate down, it's only going to prevent normal consumers from being able to install the game. Worse, they don't find out until they've opened the package and tried to install, which in some cases is enough to prevent a return and refund from the seller.

I'm certain this game deserves more than 1 star, and suspect it will see some good reviews from people who are able to install, but I can't give it more than a single. That's a commentary on UBI Soft and their "feature", not about the game itself.

Summary: The Best!!
Review: My nine year old daughter loves CATZ 5. I hear meowing coming from her room while she plays the game, and I keep thinking our cats are stuck in a closet somewhere. She loves that the cats "marry" and give birth. Then she names them all. She also loves the DOGZ version.

Summary: WOW!!!
Review: Ok, I am only a 10-year-old gamer but I too have my opinion, I myself LOVE cats (normal ones) and I also love Catz too, I have only gotten, Catz (original) on my gameboy, and Catz2 on my computer, but I love Catz5, besides the non-realistic part of when they get married it is completly realistic. My favorite cat is the Bobcat..... though that cannot actualy be a pet, it is a wild animal... BUT IT IS SO FUN!!!!! anyway, I hope you will buy it too!

Summary: Petz 3 is my fav so far
Review: Petz 5 is a great game, but I have still yet to find out if it was worth the money. My favorite feature in it is the multiple litters, but the process of raising the kids is quite a chore. Only the mom and her babies can be out, and they can only be in the Nursery playscene (not accessible from the go menu). When they grow up, you are taken to the Nursery, but then you have to go to a different playscene and then take them out. Annoying. Also, the new breeds are less than satisfying. Their offspring often have weird colorings, nothing like their own. Also, I hate the fact that it runs slow on my computer (more a problem for me because my computer only meets the minimum requirements). By the way, you don't need the CD to run it, like some people have stated. And if you look up on the internet, you can find a patch to get all the toys possible. ... Honestly, I think Petz 3 was the best game out of the whole series. So, if you have never had any Petz games before, get Petz 3 instead.
