Summary: Warning! Read this first before you buy this software!
Review: Don't buy this software if you have telephony software or multiple sound drivers installed on your computer!The product will not operate without selecting the "game" sound driver thereby disabling your software! My nine year old could make this change each time she wants to play but what's the fun in that? The software is flawed and now we another rather expensive "toy" cd to play with, including the 2nd day air! This error is generated when the program queries the system for the sound card (primary sound device) but finds another sound device driver (Voice Modem, Intel Virtual Wave Device, KA Virtual Wave) instead. The program requires a sound card that supports Stereo (2 channels) at 22,050 Hz 16 bit. These incompatible device drivers cause the conflict because the program finds that the device driver on the voice modem or other device does not support the 22,050 Hz 16 bit required by the program, resulting in the error message. The error can be eliminated by changing the preferred sound device or by disabling the driver that is causing the conflict. Refer to the procedures below so the program can be run properly without displaying the error. Some of the most common drivers that experience this issue follow: Voice Modem Serial Wave Driver TAM Audio Driver KA Virtual Sound Driver A. Change the preferred device to "Game Compatible" B. Summary: Disney's Reading Quest with Aladdin
Review: Excellent entertainment and education. My son started on it when he was 4 - he'll soon be 6 and it's still one of his favorites. Excellent complement to Disney's Math Quest with Alladin. Great for both boys and girls - and parents too. Good audio-visuals and humour make parent-child sessions more interesting.

Summary: Terrible waste of money
Review: I bought this software for my kids for Christmas 2000. I have a boy 3 and a girl 8. They were totally bored with this in about 20 minutes. There are very few things to actually do in this program. You can adopt a dog from the adoption center, use the art center for typical things, feed and play with your dog in different parks. Once you pick your dog from the dog adoption center you can NEVER change the dog you have. The only way is to create a new signon name when starting the game. Also there is many famous landmarks for London and Paris shown. But once you click on the landmark a picture of the landmark and a brief description is given. Way to boring for any child I know of (even adults for that matter). Save your money and buy something else. I wish I did.

Summary: Best keyboarding software for young students
Review: I consider keyboarding essential, especially once children have transitioned to cursive if not before. As an educational consultant, I wanted to actually try keyboarding software for younger children before recommending it. This title was by far the best of five I tried, with the most potential for children to place fingers correctly. It was one of the titles including posture and position illustrations at the beginning. While entertaining, the cartoon motivation and reinforcement moved quickly, so practice really is required. I didn't like the weird cave activity, but children are keyboarding adequately before they get to that last level. Designed well, the title I recommend for those too young for Mavis or when a lighter approach is needed.

Summary: Doesn't work for XP, but nice program
Review: I couldn't get it to run at all in XP, but I have Windows 95 installed within Windows XP, and this game ran well in Windows 95. Beautiful graphics. The typing bores my 5 year old very quickly, but I encourage him to work on it with the promise of a reward. So far he is only in the beginning, and there is only one game to play (besides the standard drill). I think there will be more games available as he progresses. If you can't downgrade easily, however, this game is probably not worth buying.

Summary: Typing with Timon & Pumbaa
Review: I got this game for classroom work for kids from 5yrs to 12yrs. I was VERY pleased with the combination of practice and fun games. What impressed me most about it, particularly after trying out other typing software, is how well it adjusts the games to the child's level. Yes, supervision is always required to ensure they're not looking at their hands or just bashing keys, and I've heard my share of groans when another page of text comes on instead of the game, but that's to be expected. Excellent game which I intend to purchase for my own child!

Summary: "Verdogo" Rocks!!!
Review: I had loads of fun while playing "Disney's Activity Center: 102 Dalmatians"-well, at least while playing "Verdogo", a fast-paced arcade game! You play as Oddball-that cute, little, spotless pup from the film-and help her make her way through Le Pelt's Bakery to save all 102 dalmatian pups! Along the way she'll need to climb up ladders, slide through tubes, ride on moving belts, jump on elevators, and, of course, dodge nasty Cruella and her gang of puppy nappers! Great graphics and hip music make this game even more entertaining! When your done with "Verdogo", you might want to "Adopt-a-Puppy"! Players get to choose one of four cute pups and give them a name (I named mine "Ace"), then take them to one of six international parks. To encourage replay value, you get the parks one at a time. You also get cool toys, like a frisbee that you can really throw for your pup to catch! Okay, I've told you what's good about this game. Now I'll tell you what's not. Well, for starters, there's "Operation: Dalmatian", a logic game where you ask Waddlesworth The Parrot (Aka, The Rottweiler), questions to help you find the "Top Dog". It's fun on 2 player mode, but on one player mode, it's really, really, BORING!!! Another flop is the "Pup Art Gallery", a poorly designed art activity with not nearly enough stickers and backgrounds! And once you feed all 102 hungry puppies in "Chow Time", it gets easy and repeatitive fast (though those little pups do look really cute as they eat their dog food). Oh well. At least "102 Dalmatians" has one really entertaining game, and four others that are fairly entertaining, as well. It will certainly satisfy young fans of the film, but may disappoint those who might expect a little more from Disney. 4 OUT OF 5!

Summary: A bit dull
Review: It's probably more fun than any other typing game, but its still repetitive and boring, which I suppose, is what learning typing is like. Not recommended for young users less than 6 years old who have already played Humongous games, because they will ask to play Freddi Fish after the novelty of this game wears off.
