Summary: Good first experience with computers
Review: My 2 1/2 year old son loves this program. He started out having problems with his mouse skills, but soon mastered the interface. After a month, he has just about worn out this program.

My only reservations is that it runs on a 640x480 screen and does not automatically adjust the display when it starts (win98/SE). At the resolution I use on my computer, the screen is to small to see. It would be great if they had the program auto-adjust the screen resolution and mouse sensitivity.

Summary: My daughter simply loves it!!!!
Review: My 2 year old loves this set of CDs. I found that it reinforces all the things we are teaching her.... shapes, colors, numbers the ABC. The duck that sings is very sweet to their ear. I found it sooo great I am buying it for my daughter's school so the other kids can benefit as well.

Summary: Easy to memorize the game, but...
Review: My 3 year old daughter likes this program. She has learned all the Spanish words and phrases and can use her knowledge as long as she's playing the game, but when I ask her a Spanish word outside the context of the game, she's not good at applying what she's learned to real life.

I am having better luck teaching her Spanish by learning more Spanish myself and then when a situation arises in which I can use it, I teach her the word or phrase. She also remembers songs in Spanish and is able to sing them back herself when I sing them to her, but she wasn't able to do that very well after hearing them on the computer. When I don't know a Spanish word, we look at the dictionary together, and then she remembers the word better than I do and can use it.

Some software teaches my daughter as well or better than I can, but in the case of learning a language, I recommend software for the parent, not the child.

Summary: Engrossing but I am not sure she is learning anything.
Review: My 3 year old daughter will sit for hours playing with this software. I do not, however, see or hear the results of their accomplishments together. The language cd offers 3 other languages but I have yet to hear her say a word in any other language. She has already mastered the alphabet which is good because this really does not teach the alphabet just arbitrarily some letters throughout the game. I do not really think it is worth the $29.99. I gave it 3 stars because she seems to like to play with it and 1)it is better than tv and 2) I am sure she is learning something.

Summary: Excessive Introduction
Review: My 5 year old daughter was eager and happy to get this software for Christmas, but we have only had a few short sessions with it so far, 4 weeks later. Once you start the Fundamentals session, there is a several minute introduction...ok, we have seen it. Once you finally get to the actual activities, they are rather mundane. Also, I think my daughter would prefer people to anthropomorphic animals. We are reading Go Dog Go the last few nights and loving it (OK, animals, but at least the challenge of reading is there and somehow holds her interest). I think books are better than software.

Summary: JumpStart Spanish a winner
Review: My 5 year old loves her new JumpStart Spanish program. She has learned to count in spanish and her colors so far. Very fun games and rewards. She is really picking things up fast. We have not had any real computer problems, it has locked up once, but that has happened on other software as well. The sound works well. For the price I would recommend this as a beginning spanish program.

Summary: Good introduction to Spanish language
Review: My 6 year old daughter loves this program. She had no previous experience with the Spanish language before so I thought we'd give always reliable Jump Start a try. I have to make her get off the computer! She goes back again and again and clicks items two or three times to practice the words. Well worth the money, and mom is learning too!

Summary: Great software!
Review: My daughter enjoys this software so much...and she is only in preschool. I would recommend this software to anyone with young kids!

Rating: 3 stars
Summary: Software is not great
Review: My daughter uses this software at pre-school and she enjoyed it, so we bought it for our home computer. Although she thinks it is fun, I really do not see that she is learning much Spanish from it (for that, try DORA) She enjoys the games more than the learning aspect of it. My problem with the software is that it always seems to malfunction. It "sticks" and every now & then the sound just does not work. My daughters teacher said they have the same problems with the software they use in her school. Based on that, I would only give this an average rating.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Great
Review: My Five-year old loves this software, especially the animal kingdom, he loves playing the games and getting an idea for nature and intro to science. The fundamentals are fun and teaches him at the same time.
