Summary: Good Program
Review: I purchased this program to help my 3 year old son sharpen and develop his basic preschool skills. I found this program to have a good theme and my son was very interested in the character's various actions, songs and dances used to accompany the instruction. Skill levels can be chosen to pace the progression dependeing on the need of the child. The program is very user friendly to an adults helping their children. Progrmas are easily exited out of and information can be saved to log the progress of the children users. I recommend this software to parents who want to help their preschoolers get a head start on Kindergarten education.

Summary: amazing
Review: I work in a day care in a room where the children are 12 to 24 months. One of their first words when in my room is Reader Rabbit!!. They just love this CD it keeps their interest for a long time and the learning never stops. At this age this is wonderful and amazing to watch develop.

Summary: Fun program, nice songs
Review: It is quite a stretch to call this 'pre-school'. My 4 year old quickly became bored with it, and the math sequence is interminable and goes on for what seems like forever.
My 2 1/2 year old took to the challenges more readily, learning mouse skills, colors and shapes, and some basic words. This doesn't attempt to teach reading or the alphabet.
The whole story about 'Pirats' (sic) - space faring rats - is rather fun, and my kids really enjoyed the songs

Summary: Educational and fun!
Review: It's tough finding something for kids to play while not spending a fortune and wasting brain space on senseless games. The Reader Rabbit series are great because they offer great ways to learn while keeping things simple and fun in a cartoon-like format. The software is easy to install and I found that my 1st grader could easily navigate the program without getting stuck. She sat on it for hours!! I was surprised to see the fun she had with the program and look forward to purchasing further copies.

Summary: Cannot get it to install in XP pro
Review: Last night I read all the reviews here, today called 10 stores trying to find it, for my grandsons who just moved here from out of state... hour drive to get it... and it absolutely refuses to install under XP pro.

The install gets started, and stops cold with a "cannot create directory - Current file: *.*" error message. I've ripped the net apart looking for others with the problem; I'm the administrator so that's not the problem; tried the Program Compatibility Wizard, and went through everything on the Riverdeep web site, but it will not load.

Third day of babysitting tomorrow in a week, and I was really counting on this to keep the kids entertained for a few... Even though this version was released only a year ago, site says no support other than web, which seems to be zero. Box clearly says it supports XP - and I paid full price for it, not on some 'bargain' old game rack. If anybody has a clue, please post it here.
Back it goes to the store I guess... too bad.

Summary: Excellent software
Review: My 2 year old daughter LOVES this game. It's especially easy for her to use because you don't have to be able to use the mouse. You can play all the games with the keyboard and then work up to the mouse. She's sit in front of it for hours if I'd let her. I would highly recommend it to anyone.

Summary: Preschool Best
Review: My 3 1/2 year old grandson loves this program. It is great for little ones first learning to use the computer. It is sometimes hard for them to click the mouse. These programs allow them to play some games just by moving the mouse over the targeted picture.

Summary: Love Reader Rabbit
Review: My 3 1/2 yr old son graduated from rr baby & toddler to this a few months ago and it's been great. He needed help at first but caught on really quickly. I just wish they would provide a parents' manual with it because sometimes he gets frustrated because he hasn't got enough crystals to do something and I can't help as I haven't actually played the game through myself. But he now knows how to use the mouse to point, click and drag without really having been shown and without having spent hours playing - he spends maybe an hour a week on the computer.
