Summary: Average at best game; Dora only redeeming feature.
Review: Do not buy this game if you are used to the better quality games Humongous software has produced for NickJR characters in the past: Humongous was sold to Infogames, and well, if this title is indicative, much was lost.

This game is saved only by the appearance of Dora. I really feel the two star rating is generous. My daughter is Dora crazy, and even she shows little to no interest in this game (and she loves edutainment computer games).

The program is not well executed, and there is little asttention to detail. One my daughter noticed was that at the begining of the game Dora collects 5 books to return to the liebrary. When she returns the books at the end of the journey, the colors of the books which come out of the backpack don't match the ones put in, prompting my daughter to ask "what happened to the books we put in Dora's backpack...

Summary: Good
Review: I thought it was very good. It should be for older children though.

Summary: Not fun, not worth the money
Review: My daughter liked this game the first time she played it, but half way through the second time, she was bored. Each time you play, you go through the same set of games, in the same order, with the same outcome. Nothing is ever different from the time before, and it doesn't take very long. There is also not much educational value. This is not worth the money at all. If you want Dora games, there are plenty of them at Nickjr.com.

Summary: My 3 1/2 year old loves it
Review: My 3 1/2 year old loves this game. She sits for about an hour at a time and solves the different challenges and plays with the sticker-book feature. She loves Dora and Boots, so that is a very big part of the attraction. She doesn't seem to have a problem with being bored with the activities. Her mouse skills have increased dramatically since starting to use this title.

This game seems to be more bug-free than other childrens software. I have not had the problems that some others have mentioned here. Based on the quality of this game and how it keeps my daughter engaged, we will also buy the Lost City Adventure.

Summary: Waste of Money
Review: I was so disappointed with this game. Originally when I hear a DORA game was coming out, I was very excited. I have a 3 year old girl who loves DORA. Unfortunatly, there is no variation to this game and little challenge. She was bored with it in less than 15 minutes because she had already completed the BACKPACK ADVENTURE. From there you can go to the MAP and roam free...there is only one adventure on this CD. I expected this game to be more entertaining and fun.

Summary: Does Dora Live up to her Show?
Review: Dora the Explorer: Backpack Adventure is the first CD-ROM starring Dora and her friends. For the parents that have bought Nick Jr. software before, such as the Blue's Clues series, I must warn you, you will be a tad dissapointed. First, however, the pros. Infrogames (that's right, Humongous is gone, Infogames has taken over) has copied 95% of Dora's world into this game. All her friends are there, and are voiced by the TV actors. The music is from the show as well, and Dora asks for your child's help a lot. This game is based on Backpack Adventure, which means you are helping Dora return her books to the library. Now, sadly, we come to the other 5%. First off, if you're looking for free exploration and clickable surprises, you will only find them in 2 screens of this game. The rest of it is game-structured. You finish a game, you're done at that location. Second, the Map screen. When you look at the Map, instead of seeing three locations, you see 7. Still, the Map tells you you only need to go to three of those locations, yet you go to all 7. This could be confusing for a child who has seen the show. Also, if your child likes the songs, he or she is in for a surprise. Only one song is played fully, and two (I'm the Map and Grumpy old Troll) are recited. The other two, Vamanos and Backpack, are shortened. Aside from that, this is a good game for any Dora fan.

Summary: Good game with educational value, but boring
Review: My three-year-old son played with this and enjoyed the games, and they are very easy to navigate with good learning objectives. It can get a little boring after a few times, or as they get older.

Summary: Boring!
Review: I have a 3 year old, and after a week, she is already bored with this game. For $20, there should be more to do. It constantly repeats itself, and has no real direction. Very limited number of activities available, and really no variety. I would not recommend this game at all. I am currently reading reviews to find something much more interesting.

Summary: MAC Users Beware
Review: I bought this product because it specifically stated that is is supported Mac OS X 10.1.x and above. Turns out that there is a problem with the mouse tracking on OS X 10.2 that makes the game unusable. I went to the company's website for a patch only to find out there isn't one, and there will not be one. Their solution is to install it in 0S 9 and boot into OS 9 to play it. I checked for OS X support specifically to avoid such nonsense.

I am very disappointment in this product as a result and would recommend looking elsewhere for both Windows and Mac if a company such as this cannot properly fix their bugs. $15 wasted and one very unhappy Toddler.

Summary: Not worth the $20
Review: My son who is 3 loves playing computer and is pretty advanced in using computer. This game is no challenge for him at all. While he plays it on a daily basis but only for a short period of time. For example one of the game is to click on swiper once he appears. Well, swiper always appears behind the same bush and stand there waiting for you to click on him. I found jumstart pre-school to be a much better program as far as being challenging and at the same time a learning program. There is a similar game on the jumpstart program about different shape coming down the slides and the program tells you a shape and you have to click on it but there are many of them coming at you and from different direction. Which makes the game more exciting and more challenging and at the same time learning about different shapes while having fun clicking away. this is definitevely for kids age 18 mth to 3. not from 3 to 5.
