Description:

Visit five different continents and brave the elements in The Wild Thornberrys: Rambler, an arcade-game series that takes players all over the world in pursuit of cheese munchies, stolen music, and a few juicy bugs.

Rambler gives players a chance to become the characters from the popular Nickelodeon show, The Wild Thornberrys. In the Arctic, you can play Eliza as she hops from ice floe to ice floe, dodging polar bears as she reunites lost baby animals with their parents. In South America, Darwin the monkey retrieves stolen cheese munchies from wild monkeys, trying to avoid becoming a snack for crocodiles in the process. African monkeys in this game are also kleptomaniacs--they've stolen Debbie's CD collection, and she must chase through the jungle to get them back! In Africa, Donnie eats his way through a bug-filled maze in a simplified version of Pac-Man, while Nigel faces off against an animal poacher named Kip O'Donnell in Australia.

Ardent fans of The Wild Thornberrys will find a lot to love in this game, which focuses on the characters and features bright, cheerful animation. Other players, less interested in the show, may find fault with Rambler: its gameplay and soundtrack are both glitch-ridden, and many of the games lack humor and a true sense of challenge; they're too repetitive and don't increase in difficulty quickly enough to maintain player interest. What's more, the program's educational content is minimal. Still, if your child is just learning the basics of computer gaming and is a fan of The Wild Thornberrys, Rambler might be a good choice. --Alyx Dellamonica
