Summary: FANtastic!!!!
Review: Because I've read all of Ms. Roby's other books I give this 3 stars. I particularly enjoyed "Here and Now" so fans of Ms. Roby pick up a copy and you won't be disappointed. Back to "The Best-Kept Secret", I do hope that this is the last of Curtis Black, although he was a changed man and Charlotte was doing what he did in the last book, enough already!! I wasn't particulary "stunned" at the end of the book as mentioned on the inside cover of the book. By all means I would recommnend this book but fans know that this is not Ms. Roby's best and don't let this book stop you from reading her other books and books to come. Can't wait to read her next novel. Keep up the good work Ms. Roby!!

Summary: The Saga Continues
Review: THE BEST-KEPT SECRET is the third book by Kimberla Roby featuring the infamous character, Reverend Curtis Black. In it, he is rebuilding his life - again, and hoping that the marriage to his newest wife, Charlotte, will succeed. He has left Chicago, and started a new church. The new church was a carefully planned endeavor; Curtis and Charlotte wrote the by-laws and hand selected the governing body with hopes of avoiding some of the power struggles he encountered in churches he pastored prior. Curtis has slowed down considerably, trading his womanizing role for that of a family man dedicated to raising his young son to the best of his ability. While on the surface things look great for him both professionally and on the home-front, things are not always as they seem. Curtis just may have met his match with his young wife, and add to that a healthy dose of betrayal, old skeletons and lots of conflict and you have a story that is sure to please.

Although I may not be anxious to see a fourth book featuring Curtis Black's character, I really enjoyed following his evolution from Casting the First Stone to THE BEST-KEPT SECRET. While the book could stand alone, knowing the history behind the various characters will make this a much more interesting read. My only real issue with this book was that I felt like a lot of the events that occurred in the story had happened before in an earlier book, just with different characters playing pivotol roles. This made the story less believable simply because it seemed unrealistic for Curtis to find himself amid such over-the-top, once-in-a-lifetime, dramatic events more than once. Still if any character would be swimming in drama, it would surely be Curtis Black, and because of that I still give the book an above average rating.

Summary: AGAIN, ANOTHER JOB WELL DONE MRS. ROBY....
Review: This book was very good, as well as all of Mrs. Roby's other ones. It's nice to see Mr. Curtis Black get a dose of his own medicine. It surely kept me interested, although i do hope this is the end of the Curtis Black sequels. I would recommend this book to anyone who likes a lot of drama filled books, but dont forget to read the first two books before this one.

Summary: Lives Up to the Hype
Review: This is the third in Roby's series about the Reverend Curtis Black. However, this book stands alone and even if you haven't read the first two you will still enjoy this one.

This time Curtis has sworn off his cheating and manipulative ways and vows to be faithful to his new wife Charlotte and the church they have founded. Little does he know he is about to get what he has dished out.

The materialistic Charlotte proves totally disinterested in church affairs and to top it off is having an affair with one of the Deacon's, who is also Curtis' best friend.

I really enjoyed this book because it explored Curtis' background and he became a changed man. I won't give too much away, but let's say I hope there is another book coming because there are definitely some surpises at the end.

Summary: Been there done that
Review: While I have to admit I love Ms. Roby's books. I did not love The Best Kept Secret. Why you may ask? Because I read this story in Casting The First Stone and Too Much Of A Good Thing. Can you say sick of Curtis Black!!!! Cause I am. I mean come on didn't we go through this same thing once before. Ok maybe he's not quite as bad but his wife is doing exactly the same things he did. And Ms. Roby please tell me you're not setting us up for a forth installment cause I can't take it. How about we revisit the characters in Behind Closed Doors or Tastes of Reality. I would have given this book one star if it was by another author but I love Ms. Roby to much.

Summary: Enuf is Enuf and Too Much is too Much
Review: [...] I read the first two in this trilogy. After reading the second, I decided I didn't want to read any more about Curtis Black because he got on my LAST nerve. I ordered a book called BEST KEPT SECRET by Sandra Brown (My favorite author) and they sent me this book. I really didn't want to read this, but while I was waiting for them to send me the correct titled author, I read this. Pewy! It was the same TIRED storyline only with the character's flipping the script. That is to say that Charlotte became Curtis' character and vice-versa. I sent it back. Don't waste your money on this one. Instead, read a BRENDA HAMPTON novel or if you must read a novel on church people, then read The Preacher's Son by Carl Weber or Lust Of The Flesh by Beverly Royal or Let The Church Say Amen by Rhoshanda Tate Billingsley. I must admit that I haven't read any of these books yet, I saw them listed under church drama novels, but I'm sure that they can't be as monotomous (sp?) as Best Kept Secrets by Kimberly Lawson Roby.
