Summary: How did this get published?
Review: After reading this book, I am pretty sure that this woman gets her work published just because "Danielle Steel" will be on the cover which means some following of hers will automatically purchase it. I am serious when I say it was predictable and painful to read. I am totally turned off and will NEVER read another one of Steel's boring novels.

Summary: Yawn
Review: Danielle Steel's writing has really slipped over the years. She's cranking out novels at an unbelievable speed and her writing is not nearly what it used to be. When I first started reading her books 20 years ago, they really swept me away and into the story. Some were a tad predictable, but still very engrossing and interesting. Anymore, her stories are completely predictable, with no twists and turns at all. I didn't enjoy this one much at all!

Summary: too short........
Review: I am a big fan of Danielle Steel's books, but I thought this one was too short. It was an okay book, but at the end it left you wondering what happened after that.

Summary: I personally liked it!
Review: I haven't seen such a book with mixed reviews such as this one, so I decided to throw my two cents in for what it is worth. The book follows Danielle Steels usual upper class romance with "famous" characters and plentiful wealth. I enjoyed this book and found it quite humorous and touching. Steel's formulaic characters are starting to get a little old, and I believe she should try something new.

Summary: Not Bad, Not Good....Just Somewhere In The Middle
Review: I only need one word to summarize this book: MEDIOCRE.

This is the first Danielle Steel book I've read, and I'm hoping that this book is not indicative of her story-telling abilities. I felt a sense of apathy about the novel's storyline and characters from the very first page to the last page. None of the characters are likeable, the dilemmas that they face are of very little consequence, and the dialogue is largely dry and uninteresting. There's absolutely nothing dramatic or compelling within these pages. On the plus side, there's enough material here to keep the reader from wanting to abandon this book without finishing it, though it isn't necessary to complete the book in order to figure out how the story will conclude. The ending was annoyingly predictable.

The story kept me mildly entertained for the six hours that it took me to read, though I felt nothing but numb and dispassion after I was done. This is a novel I will soon forget.

Summary: A Joyful Book
Review: I truly loved reading this book. I have heard so much about Danielle Steel books and thought I would give it a try with this book and it was a complete joy to read... It was so quick and easy to read I loved the characters it would be wonderful to see if there is a follow up to this book to see what happens after pascale has her baby.... I will never forget this book I think this book is going to make me a big fan of Danielle Steel for years to come... Only takes a day or two to read it and find out if you are going to enjoy the wonderful writing style of a wonderful lady...

Summary: Awful!
Review: I was looking for a nice little romance to escape with and I was in O'Hare airport with nothing much to do. I saw this on the shelf & that this author had sold hundreds of millions of books. I figured that many people couldn't be wrong. Hmm.

The first thing that turned me off right away was that there was a character with the same first name as mine. Unfortunately, this character fares extremely poorly in the book. I suppose it's not really fair of me to dislike the book for that. I mean the character who does worst in the book has to have some name, but I just couldn't let it go. So much for escape from my own problems.

Another thing that annoyed me was that one of the characters was characterized as a "superior court judge" in New York City. Now, if you know anything about law in New York, you know that there is no such position in New York State. The position that corresponds to "superior court judge" in other states is called "supreme court justice" here. (The court that we have that would be called "supreme court" in other states is called "court of appeals.") Why does New York have to be different like this? Who knows? But then everyone always knew New York was different from the rest of the coutnry. Now you may say that this is a petty point, but it seems to me that, if you're an author with a big following and you know you might have yet another best-selling book and you know a lot of your book is going to be set in New York City, you could bother to research these things just a tad just so, in case some of your readers ever go looking for a court in New York City, they might end up in the right place.

Now sitting back from my personal vendetta, I have to say that it was a light and easy read, so I suppose I got a bit of an escape from it. The reading level here is probably barely fifth grade. The characters were pretty well developed, using short, uncomplicated sentences. There weren't any complicated concepts here. I would say Harry Potter is probably a more challenging read. Still, the thing kept my attention, mostly because it was short and I just sailed on through.

It was nice that the characters were happy, older people. It's nice to see a romance where everyone isn't a kid.

I found the ending abrupt and contrived, but, fortunately, happy.

I don't know if I would get another book by this author... maybe in a pinch, in an airport, if I'm desperate. But I would certainly look for alternatives.

Summary: Not Danielle Steel's best work
Review: I've read all of Danielle Steele's books. However, this one was so predictable. I'm starting to find her books very boring. Put it this way I will never purchase any more of her books. My favorites were The Ring, Jewel and Heartbeat to name only a few. At one time I couldn't wait for her new book to come out. Before this book and the one before that she was one of my favorite authors ... now I really can't say.

Summary: Sunset in St. Tropez
Review: This is one of Danielle Steel's better novels. It had a pleasant and happy ending and is great for summer or vacation reading. I was captivated by it and couldn't put it down until I was finished.

It tells how 3 couples, who planned to vacation the following year in St. Tropez, France were met with tragedy when one of the couple's wives died. Robert soon began to date again and when it came time to go on vacation, he brought his new girlfriend, who was a budding actress. This did not go over well with the other wives and caused a lot of friction among the couples.

In the end, all of the preconceived notions about the new girl friend were eliminated and it taught a lesson to those who made quick judgments about others.
