Rating: Summary: To forgive is divine Review: Date Reviewed: September 6, 2003This is a story of a sacrifice made for love, and the realization that one person's sacrifice most often removes another person's choice. Quiet, shy Asia Morrell was in awe when she met Nicholas Reynolds at Howard University. Both were law students with hopes of sharing a law practice and the rest of their lives. But Asia becomes pregnant, and in order to preserve Nicholas' dream, she forfeited hers and disappeared. Nicholas, now a renowned lawyer and a deeply religious man is in the final stages of a divorce, or so he thinks. He is contemplating where his life goes from here. His practice is thriving, still he is not content, he muses over the lost of the only woman he has ever loved, and he wonders where Asia is. But someone is wondering about Nicholas; NBA basketball star Isaiah Reynolds Morrell, has finally tracked down the one man who haunts his dreams. The meeting between Nicholas and his son is shocking, heated and tender. Nicholas never knew he had a son, and Isaiah has always wanted to know his father. But hours after their climatic meeting, Isaiah is in a tragic automobile accident, which could end his career and maybe his life. Nicholas is devastated that he could lose the son he just found. As he rushes into the hospital he comes face to face with his lost love of 20 years. But before Asia and Nicholas can address their issues, they must summon their faith and stay focused for their son. TOMMORROW MAY NEVER COME is a richly spiritual story, and Ms. Hudson- Smith delivers an inspiring message with people who are learning how to forgive, and live by faith. At times I felt the story was a little preachy, and some scenes seemed to drag, but depending on a readers particular taste this may not be an issue for some. Nonetheless this is a well written Christian Fiction with real human drama. Reviewed by aNN of The RAWSISTAZ Reviewers
Rating: Summary: Powerful, Refreshing and a Joyous Read! Review: First and foremost I have to applaud Ms. Hudson-Smith for writing such a powerfully spiritual novel! My prayer for you is that God will continue to anoint you with such joyous Christian-based novels! You will absolutely fall in love with and admire Nicholas for his violent faith in the Lord!!! It was so refreshing to read about an African American male who truly practiced his faith! Nicholas was the one who influenced his son Isaiah, his one true love Asia and Torrie to keep the faith! I loved one of the themes expressed in the novel-we as Christians have to at all times keep ourselves in constant communication with God through our prayers, so that we do not totally lose our way! We cannot make it without the Lord! This novel was realistic but at the same time you really felt that through it all God was and is still in control! Tomorrow made you shout, sing and cry all at the same time! Once you start reading you will not be able to put the book down! To sum it all up in two words...SIMPLY DIVINE!! God bless you Ms. Hudson-Smith and keep on writing about the miraculous power of my Lord and Savior, JESUS CHRIST!!!
Rating: Summary: WHO KNOW WHO HOLDS TOMORROW! Review: I REALLY LIKED THIS NOVEL, FROM THE GET GO NICHOLAS WAS A VERY LOVING FATHER (THAT IS OF COURSE ONCE HE HAD THE CHANCE TO BE ONE). EVEN THOUGH I WAS LIKE EVERY TIME I TURN AROUGND THIS MAN IS CRYING. I JUST WISH IT WAS MORE MEN IN THE WORLD LIKE HIM 1) A STONG CHRISTIAN. 2) THAT WAS READY TO STEP UP TO THE PLATE. 3) AFFECTIONATE, LOVING, AND BELIVED HIS SON TO THE END. THIS STORY WAS SOMETHING THAT A LOT OF PEOPLE GO THROUGH TODAY. I THINK A LOT OF PEOPLE NEED TO READ THIS. LINDA - NOVELS HAVE STORY LINES THAT HAVE MOST BOOKS DON'T HAVE LIKE THIS ONE AND LADIES IN WAITING.
Rating: Summary: Enjoy Today Because Tomorrow May Never Come Review: I truly enjoyed this powerful and spiritual novel. Linda Hudson-Smith really put her heart and soul into writing this novel. I loved the way Nicholas Reynolds always gave praise to the Almighty and never lost faith in God and his love for Asia Morrell. I enjoyed this novel so much that I didn't want it to end. Once you read it, you won't put the novel down until the end, and then you want to just read more about this loving family. I pray that Linda write a sequel. I would love to read more about Isaiah and his beautiful family. Thanks Linda for a beautiful novel. You are the best.
Rating: Summary: I thought the end of this book May Never Come Review: Once reading the other reviews I saw that it wasn't just me. I just couldn't bring myself to finish this book. I would be reading and then just forced to put it down out of boredom. I would try to read it again and the same thing so I just quit.
First off the beginning was too fast. Bam, he confronts his father. Bam, they are willing to work past their differences and get to know one another over dinner. Bam, Isaiah is in a car accident. That was the entire story line by the 2nd or third chapter. The rest of the book is stagnant and revolves around scenes from the hospital room.
And to be a Christian novel I wasn't even down with all the out of wedlock pregnancies from Asia to Torri.
And that one scene where Torri is like "Oh, Mommy Asia hold me!" and Asia responds "Come to Mommy Asia." Give me a break! Can we say corny?? Leave that for the Young and the Restless and General Hospital.
Rating: Summary: Right On Time God Review: This book was very inspirational and these are real life issues. Isaiah and his father was reunited together at God's time. I disagree with the person that had the title Good Idea, Bad Writing, but everyone is entitled to there own opinion. The comment made about how the author kept pointing out that Isaiah and Torri were carbon copies of Asia & Nicholas, well you have to look at it like this. Isaiah was raised by his mom and his mom alone. I was alway told that 9 times out of 10 a male is going to marry a lady that has the same characters either his mother/sister has, especially if they are good. And Isaiah loved his mom. This is a good read for females just as well as males. I commend Ms. Hudson and encourage her to keep up the good work.
Rating: Summary: Tomorrow is Excellent Review: This is one of the best authors I have come across in years! She impacts a lot of events in the first few chapters. This book will definitely keep your interest alive. This book made me cry on several occasions, it made me laugh, and it gave me a "warm and fuzzy" feeling. Thank You Ms. Hudson-Smith for a great begining. This is a nice clean book that believers can read and enjoy. No "F" or "S" words in this book at all. The "h" word is in here 1-3 times. There was only one discrepency in the book. But, the book was so great, it was hardly worth mentioning. I will definitely read more of her material.
Rating: Summary: GOD is Good Review: This novel had complete focus on prayer. It gave a serious look at some things are kept secret for the wrong reasons. But it put together a family that almost never happened. The novel was also touch on the issues of how families that want to hide some things in the closet, just to in the spotlight. The reality was really here. It also focused on the men. There are some very strong black men out there. We need to compliment our men to how blessed they are to be here today. We need to teach our sons that anything is possible especially when they are down. Nicholas was strong from beginning to end. Even though he meets his son later and had no idea he had a son, he did not jump the conclusion that someone has lied on him. He was a sound man of faith, hope and love. He is positive in all situations that were thrown to him. He made sure he motivated his son every visit he made to him. And he was in control all the time even when situations were presented to him that were not normal. I recommend this book to all even the high school students. We need positive in our lives and we need GOD in our lives.
Rating: Summary: Good Idea, Bad Writing Review: This novel has a good idea and message, but there is poor execution of the point that it tries to get across. The dialogue is too unreal and lengthy; no one really talks like the people in the book. There is also a lot of repetition in the book at the end of every chapter, and in how the author keeps pointing out that Isaiah and Torri are "carbon copies" of Asia and Nicholas. Certain details in the novel are too detailed and other parts are not detailed enough. Basically, you should read this book to uplift yourself, not to challenge yourself in reading good literature.
Rating: Summary: Zzzzzz Zzzzzz Zzzzzz Review: This was the most painful book I've ever read. Painful in the sense that the story dragged on chapter after chapter, the author kept repeating the same things over and over and the characters were a bit too unrealistic. Nothing about this book held my interest or made me want to keep turning pages. I wanted to give up about half way through but I made a promise to a friend to read it. So I prodded on to see how it finally ended and it took me 3 weeks to finish it. Normally I finish a good book in 3 days. If you like drawn out, mushy stories, then this book is for you. If you're like me and like a book that has a good pace and an interesting storyline with believable characters, this book isn't it. Just my opinion.
