Summary: Enjoyable Read for Regualr Readers of Sandra Brown
Review: I rated "Riley in the Morning" a four simply because I was a bit disappointed with the ending. The premise of the book is that TV producer Brin Cassidy and her estranged husband Jon Riley who is the star of his own morning show (you guessed it) Riley in the Morning duke out the problems of their relationship. Sandra Brown's idea for the story is not new, but still fun to read. This is a fast paced book, and doesn't take long to read. In short, the conflict arises when Riley decides it would be the appropriate time to discuss the status of their relationship the night that Brin is hosting a dinner party for co-workers. The book then whirlwinds into a two day long extravaganza that will keep you rooting for the couple.
To be perfectly honest, I was expecting a little bit more from the ending. I wouldn't go so far as to say I felt cheated, but I definitely felt like this was worked up to be more than it was. I think that the last few chapters are predictable, though I really don't think it takes too much away from the read. Again it doesn't spoil the book.
I'm still happy to recommend this book for a read sometime, but I would not recommend it as the first Sandra Brown novel to read. This is not the best example of the author's talent. I would suggest starting off with Sandra Brown's "Exclusive" if you've never read her work before. It's a fantastic starting point! I'd suggest saving this one for later if you're not familiar with Ms. Brown's work. If you've been reading Sandra Brown already, then by all means, live it up. It's still really fun!

Summary: Very Very Good
Review: I really enjoyed this book. Flashbacks about what cause that fall of their marriage was excellent. Both characters were very likable. This is the best Sandra Brown ever.

Summary: It could have been better
Review: I was really looking forward to reading this book because I haven't read many of Sandra's earlier books. Unfortunately, this book was kind of a let down. I did not connect with the characters. And I thought her reason for leaving Riley was kind of stupid. If they had talked it out right away, the seven month seperation would never have happened. I liked seeing how they met, that was sort of romantic, their whole history I mean. But in general it was not that good of a book. I have definitely read better. I would recommmend borrowing this book from a friend or renting it from your local library.

Summary: A ..., terrific romance novel !!!
Review: I'm very disappointed to see the lukewarm reviews that "Riley in the Morning" received upon its re-release. I've owned this book since it originally came out and it's always been one of my favorites. This is the type of sexy, super-romantic book that Sandra Brown first made her name with. Unfortunately, in the last several years she has forgotten her romance fans and has been writing suspense. Any negative reviews here on ... must be coming from her suspense fans, not her romance fans. The character of Riley is an ultra-sexy, humorous, fun to be with hero, who adores his wife. He's not perfect, but his flaws are funny. And it's great to see how the two protagonists keep things sizzling and eventually get their marriage back together. "Riley in the Morning" is a keeper, and a true romance. Romance lovers should rejoice that it is available again after so many years out of print.

Summary: Quick read that's sure to please
Review: I've read every Sanda Brown book published. She's one of my favorite authors. I truly enjoy these old romance novels she's written years ago. They're a quick read that you can really enjoy the characters.

The plot in this book is a little corney, but the characters make the book interesting. They interact well together and it's written well.

Thanks for a great evening!

Summary: Alot can happen in approx. 12 hours!
Review: If you are looking for a quick read with lots of passion that can be read in one evening- you might try this one. Brin is a very successful TV producer while Riley, her husband of a little less that 2 years, is a celebrated morning talk show host. But there were problems and after time Brin needed to escape for her individuality's sake. So for 7 months they have been estranged. Now Brin is having to make a decision whether to divorce Riley and take an offer of a life time to produce an up-coming show that is a producer's dream- she has until tomorrow to decide. She is hosting a semi-formal birthday party for her boss when Riley shows up wanting to discuss what the problem was in the marriage. Not taking No! NOT RIGHT NOW! as his answer he works his way into the evening of events- causing it to be an evening of flashbacks, passion, hurt, and love for Brin and himself.

Yes, Riley was a jerk at times- but since we have jerks in real life shouldn't there be jerks in romance novels, too?! And, yes, it was corny at times- but fun. Another sweet romance to read in one evening.

Summary: Poor plot
Review: If you're a diehard Sandra Brown fan, then wait for the paperback, because there's no way this book merits hardcover status. The plot is beyond poor. Brin's reason for leaving Riley is one of the dumbest I've read. Consider Riley a saint for putting up with this ridiculous and annoying woman. I expected better from Ms. Brown, as this book seemed rushed.

Summary: AVERAGE READ FROM MS. BROWN
Review: In Sandra Brown's annual offering to the fervent romantic readers, RILEY IN THE MORNING is too prosaic and mild to create a sensation as she always do. The central characters Brin Cassidy and Jon Riley, the producer and the charming talkhost of the popular morning show respectively, tied their wedding knot - but the bliss is transient, Brin ran away without a word. The plot started off well - and I like the focused writing of Ms. Brown especially when she narrates it in a way that the story actually finishes in an eventful day. However, the characters left me impassioned. Brin and Jon summoned less emotions in me - and with their marriage problems because of professional jealousy and glamour - it trivializes the essence of romance. I don't mind a cynic - but Jon Riley really left me cold - with his blowing temper and stereotyping his assistant as a dim wit just because her name was Whitney. It's all too offending.

Ms. Brown's writing saves the cliche plot from going down. The sensuality brimming and sexual intrigue is what Ms. Brown is proficient at - and she did it with her unique style to stir emotions. Altogether RILEY IN THE MORNING is an average read, and believe me - Ms. Brown can really do better than this.

How appropriate that the audio version is read by Tony Award nominee Alison Fraser who has been seen on TV's "All My Children." She knows how to read a love story, and she does it with gusto!
