Rating: Summary: Lukewarm romance for two stubborn lovers Review: "Riley in the Morning" is not necessarily a BAD book...but Sandra Brown has done soooo much better in her other romance novels. Sure...this book is a quick read and may hold one's attention for a bit....but it lacks alot of the emotion from some of her other releases. Riley was stubborn and somewhat selfish and so was Brin. It kind of left a bad taste in my mouth as far as endings. I will continue to read all of Sandra's books in the future because she has alot of talent.
Rating: Summary: Sexy Loveswept Romance Review: An emotional reconciliation, flashbacks to Riley and Brin's meeting, their wedding, the good times, and the breakup of their relationship, with sexy love scenes as only Sandra Brown can write them. The whole 193 page love story takes place in a single night. Not much plot or character development. Must have been written real early in her career. Its a cute story, fun and quick to read and leaves you happy in the end. Enjoyable read.
Rating: Summary: Not her best work. Review: Brin didn't summon much emotion in me. I felt she should have communicated better with her husband instead of just leaving him. I didn't understand why Jon waited so long to confront her about their marriage problems. Brin & Jon were both in the communication business and yet didn't know how to have a conversation. I think that SB is a great author but this was not one of her best efforts.
Rating: Summary: Stick with Brown's later books Review: Heard the taped version of Sondra Brown's RILEY IN THE MORNING . . . please be forewarned: this is NOT a current Brown bestseller; rather, it is from her earlier period as a romance writer . . . the story involves a couple involved in the production of a popular television program . . . for two people supposedly involved in the communications industry, I was amazed at their difficulties in relating to each other . . . also, I found the story quite predictable . . . only a few hot scenes managed to keep my attention . . . even the narration by Alison Fraser wasn't very good . . . she did fine on the male voices . . . however, her female voices were often shrill.
Rating: Summary: Save Your Money Review: I couldn't get past the first 20 pages it was so boring.I must admit I didn't even finish reading the book and that's a first for me. I may even skip 20 or 30 pages at a time, but I generally finish a book. Not this one, it wasn't worth it. I really used to like Sandra Brown's books, but The Alibi was the last one worth reading.
Rating: Summary: Too Predictable Review: I enjoy Sandra Brown and read many of her books but found this one highly predictable. I know that these books were originally published as Loveswept romances back in the early to mid-eighties and are just being released in hardcover so I wasn't expecting the usual suspense format. But 'In A Class By Itself' and this book have been let downs because after the first chapter you know why the character walked out on the man that they love and it usually isn't anything shocking or earth shattering. I'll continue to read these books I'll just have to make sure I kept my expectations low.
Rating: Summary: A Wonderful Story Review: I enjoyed the book very much. It has been a while since I read the book so I have forgotten some of the details of the story. I do remember I liked the book very much. I will read it again some day.
Rating: Summary: Audio Version Review: I listened to this book on tape. As other reviews below state, it is about Riley and Brin, a couple separated that talk about past events throughout the story to get to the root of why Brin left Riley. I would much rather have read the book because the woman that read the story was too sugary for me even in scenes where Brin was mad. 'OHhhhhhhhhh Riley! Give me a break. I won't listen to any more tapes narrarated by that lady Alison. She ruined the story for me.
Rating: Summary: Enjoyable Read for Regualr Readers of Sandra Brown Review: I rated "Riley in the Morning" a four simply because I was a bit disappointed with the ending. The premise of the book is that TV producer Brin Cassidy and her estranged husband Jon Riley who is the star of his own morning show (you guessed it) Riley in the Morning duke out the problems of their relationship. Sandra Brown's idea for the story is not new, but still fun to read. This is a fast paced book, and doesn't take long to read. In short, the conflict arises when Riley decides it would be the appropriate time to discuss the status of their relationship the night that Brin is hosting a dinner party for co-workers. The book then whirlwinds into a two day long extravaganza that will keep you rooting for the couple. To be perfectly honest, I was expecting a little bit more from the ending. I wouldn't go so far as to say I felt cheated, but I definitely felt like this was worked up to be more than it was. I think that the last few chapters are predictable, though I really don't think it takes too much away from the read. Again it doesn't spoil the book. I'm still happy to recommend this book for a read sometime, but I would not recommend it as the first Sandra Brown novel to read. This is not the best example of the author's talent. I would suggest starting off with Sandra Brown's "Exclusive" if you've never read her work before. It's a fantastic starting point! I'd suggest saving this one for later if you're not familiar with Ms. Brown's work. If you've been reading Sandra Brown already, then by all means, live it up. It's still really fun!
