Summary: One of the best books that I have ever read!
Review: This novel tells us how it was back then; and, it made me realized how blessed I am not to have gone through the things that sisters like Celie had to go through. I had seen the movie when I was about eight; but, when I had read the novel(9 years later), it just gave me a whole different perspective on this subject of the domestic lifestyle of the early 1900's.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: The color purple is a book worth reading over and over again
Review: This book represents the self-discovery of a poor uneducated black woman. With help from Shug Avery her idol and husbands lover, and her sister Nettie who she writes to for many years, she overcomes her fear. A fear to live with self pride, and respect.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: This book keeps you wanting to read more and more.
Review: I really enjoyed reading this novel about very strong women who give at nothing to be ahead and to be together. This book deals with the struggle and abuse of two sisters named Celie and Nettie who become separated and go their own directions facing many obstacles. This book is informs us of some of the things that women might have gone through and I recommend it to all the feminists and anyone who just wants to read a good book.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: This is a really good book for anyone to read!
Review: I read this book for 10th grade Honors English. We are required to read books and to do an oral book report in class. I really enjoyed reading about Celie and her life-her hardships that she had to face throughout her life. It was so interesting how everthing tied in together-the kids that her sister Nettie lives with for so long. I would recommend this to anyone. Although it is a bit disturbing and hard to follow at times, it turned out to be really great, and you really feel happy for the main character.

Summary: Fantastic book!
Review: If I could put six stars, I would! This book demonstrates the power of love and spirit. It cries out to us- " You can overcome the hardships in life; you really can endure"

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Spectacular! Sad, but a definite lesson in life.
Review: I definitely, without a doubt, love this book! I'm pretty sure it has every type of person imaginable in this book:the strong, the weak, the sinner, the devout christian, everything. One lesson that Alice Walker taught me was that everything in your life is a reflection of you. There was a place in the book when Shug said,"It ain't bad. But I just feel funny living in a square. If I was square, then I could take it better." She wanted to live in a round house, because she was round. If she were square then it wouldn't bother so much living in a square house.

Summary: Odd!
Review: First of all, i really give this book 0 stars, but that option wasn't available. I thought this book was the most retarded book I have ever and will ever read. Most of all, the sex scenes could have been edited. The incest, rape, molestation, lesbianism, whoredom etc. were all perverted and disgusting! Also, the story was so choppy and rambling that it was pointless. Yes, I understand Celie was oppressed by Mr.____, but lesbianism is not the answer to her liberation. I think the book was poorly written and not well thought out. I'm sorry, but it takes a sick mind to think up stuff like this. I never would have read it if I had known what I was getting in to.

Rating: 4 stars
Summary: It's a book you can't put down.
Review: I recommend this book because it deals with family problems that can relate to you. I think in reading this book it will help you relate with your family.

Rating: 4 stars
Summary: Brilliant, defintely worth reading!!!!
Review: I really enjoyed the format of this book with the Dear God diary entries and the letters between Celie and Nettie, the story is sad, exciting, and shows how woman can stand up for themselves and no longer be looked upon as objects. Shug Avery is a strong character who is strong willed with her own ambitions and also helps Celie to become more aware of the beauty of being female. Shug also helps Celie to gain self confidence and make her own clothes and also make clothes for others which gives her more confidence to talk to her husband and realise why he treated her so bad. A really good book which everybody should read!!!!

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Beautiful, a classic
Review: This is a haunting tale which will leave readers with memories of the story for years to come. A book to be read and reread over the years. It never gets old. A masterpiece.
