Summary: The Color Purple, An Impowering Novel
Review: As I began to read this book I began to realize how hard a black women had it. Being raped by her father and giving birth to two children by her father. Getting through this was a very impowering. Through Celie's life you got to see how she grew through her life trouble and through her ups and downs. She grew not only as a person but spiritually as well. She went from holding on to everything no matter what the situation was to relying mearly on herself. This showed me that no matter what obsticals in life you come across to hold your head up high and to grasp on to every bit of life because it can only get better.

Summary: The Color Purple
Review: I thought "The Color Purple" was a very interesting book by, how the monologue was a diary of Celie's life. And how at the beginning of the book Celie couldn't speak English very well and as the book went on, Celie gained better speaking skills so she could be just as educated as her younger sister Nettie. As the book went on, it got confusing. I had to re-read a couple of pages over so that I somewhat got the main idea of what was going on. I didn't know a few of the characters and a lot of things were happening at once. Overall I liked the book but I would only recommend it to a reader who wants a challenge, because I bet you're going to have one reading this book and to a mature audience only.

Summary: Wow... Just wow...
Review: I was given this book to read for my English class, and at first I didn't think I would like it... I slowly started reading, and then I realized how great this book is. It is uniqely written, and the story flows greatly, even though I have nothing in common with any of the characters. I am in the middle of it right now, and this book is great! Highly reccomended.

Summary: agree with "Far Reaching Depth" Review
Review: I have read Color Purple and Nightmares Echo..two different stories and yet tell the same types of stories of abuse. the endurance, determination and courage sing out in these books. I will buy I Know Why The Caged Bird Sings next. I am sure I will find the same with this book as well. These books tell of lessons learned, not just from the authors but from us...the readers as well.

Summary: The color Purple
Review: I realy like this book because; it shows how a girl of age of 14 would be able to suffer and don't felt down. How she could be a mom for her brothers and her sister Netti. It also teach you that you could do things that nothing is possible in this world; this is the way that I see it.

Summary: Fa reaching depth
Review: This is an amazing story of pain, heartache and a childhood filled with more turmoil than any one should ever deserve. This book is without a doubt written extremely well. A page turner you can not put down. Excellent!!!
I recommend two others books in this category: Nightmares Echo and I know Why The caged Bird Sings.
Buy all three books and you will see the heart, determination and courage of a child that goes into womanhood.

Summary: Insperational
Review: The Color Purple was an inspiring book. I couldn't put it down. The main character was a black woman named Celie. Celie was a unhappy black woman who lived in the early 1900's. She was raped by her father and had two kids by him. Then her father, ashamed of what he had done, married Celie off to a cruel man. Celie spends most of her life being held prisoner almost at Mr.___ house. Where she cooks, cleans, does feild work, take care of his kids and is used as a tool so Mr.___ can satisfy himself. Celies best and only friend is a Miss Shug Avery, who she also loves. I said this book was inspiring and it is. Through all the hardships she still dreams of more. She never gives up, no matter what she goes through. She sacrifices herself time after time to help others. I can relate to, (Always helping others, and never putting myself first.) Celie also has a corky sense of humor, which is refreshing throughout the book. The way the book is written makes it medially difficult to understand. I had to read a lot things twice to understand what was meant . But it was still much better than the movie.

Summary: Marvelous
Review: The Color Purple is a wonderful book that shows how much of a struggle is was for a black woman to succeed a long time ago. In her childhood, her father was molesting her and she began to think that abuse was ok. She was forced to marry a man who also beat her. One of her husbands ex-lovers showed up at the house and began to teach her many things. She had learned from her how to love, laugh and to demand respect. As the years went by, she began to make a career of making pants. The events were marvelous and always had enough action to make you stick to the book. The book will have you reading it continuiously until you've read every page.

Summary: The Color Purple
Review: Life for Celie was hard, having had 2 children at a young age and never seeing them, and having to marry someone she never loved and take care of his family. But she moved on with her life hiding things from the world and keeping things to herself. She never asked or argued to get by in life. One day her husbands lover a beautiful naive blues singer dug her way into Celie's life. She helped Celie to speak up for herself and not letting anyone run over her. She laso helps Celie to laugh, smile, have fun, and to love.
