Summary: Second Book in the Landry Family Series
Review: "Pearl in the Mist," the second book in the Landry family series, is a lot like "Dark Angel" from the Casteel series. In this book, 17-year-old Ruby Landry/Dumas is sent to an all girls private boarding school (Greenwood) in Baton Rouge with her recently crippled twin sister, Gisselle Dumas. As usual, Ruby is mistreated by authority figures, such as the headmistress, Mrs. Ironwood, who's in cahoots with Ruby's mean-spirited stepmother, Daphne. Ruby is also regarded as her sister's keeper and punished for the things Gisselle does. While Gisselle is the spoiled, mean twin, I liked her at times more than Ruby in this book. She was outspoken and funny for the most part, though she oftentimes went overboard to get attention, like how she humiliates one of Ruby's biracial friends at a dance.Ruby, once again, isn't short for romance in this book, even while at an all girls school. She meets a 30-year-old blind pianist (Louis Turbull), who is the grandson of one of the school's matriarchs. And on the side is Gisselle's ex/Ruby's current boyfriend, Beau Andreas, with martyr-like Paul Tate lurking somewhere in the background until later in this book/series. Though Ruby has her peaks at Greenwood--meeting Louis, perfecting her painting, and making friends with a quadroon, Abby Tyler--she is devastated when her father dies of a heart attack, leaving her and Gisselle in the bitter hands of their stepmother. This little drama continues in the next book, "All That Glitters," and wraps up in the final two: "Hidden Jewel" and "Tarnished Gold." While the Landry series isn't my favorite, it's still one of the ghostwriter's (Andrew Niederman) better series and worth reading if you're a V. C. Andrews fan.

Summary: A good book that could use improvements
Review: **** I gave Pearl In The Mist, by V.C. Andrews, four stars because I think that it was a good book, but could have been improved in some ways. Many of the settings in the book were realistic and went along with what was happening in the book. I thought that Rubys interactions with Louis were fake or not something that could have really happened. Like, how obsessed he became with her and then was able to miraculously see again. I think that the theme of the book was very good. I like how the step mom really did not like Ruby and yet she didn't let that get her down. She eventually did what she knew that she had to do for herself. When she made a life of her own, I thought that was great because it told those who are having a hard time that no matter what you can get through it. Ruby definitely had a hard time and still got through. I recommend that teens read this book because of the length and the way that it is written. Also, the moral is more directed to teens.

Review: Definately one of the best books I've ever read and I am almost done with the third book. I have 2 more books left to go after it and I am excited to get to them. I read Ruby in one night. I started reading before it was time for bed and ended up staying up till 7 in the morning reading because I HAD TO FINISH IT! I recomend this series for sure!. It is thew first book I have come across that actually has Houma in it. I can say that some of the places they mentioned still exist, although we do have swamp..there is more to here than just that. I know this book was written in 1994 but they make it sound like 1950. Houma has changed some since what they talk about in the book.

Summary: Question in the mist...or is it the fog?
Review: Do they honestly expect us to believe that Gisselle would just magically overcome her paralysis? That is THE stupidest thing I've ever heard. Even if she COULD overcome it, it would take therapy and exercise, not just farting around in her room and lifting herself out of her wheelchair. Anyone else notice this?

Review: I could relate to what Ruby went through while she was at boarding school. During my last year in college I had problems with my peers. Without taking my side of the story into consideration, the dean of students booted me out of the residence halls. He said I should just "bag it" if I was upset with anybody at all. He even said that nobody would want to be friends with me if I couldn't control my emotions. It's hard for anybody to control how he or she feels if he or she is being disliked without a just cause. I didn't deserve to be snubbed at all. This novel was the very first VC Andrews book I read. Ever since I could relate to the feeling of Ruby and the main characters of the novels I have been attached to the VC novels.

Review: I didn't like this book it was to slow and was ridiculous [example:Gissle walking but not lifting a finger!]this book is so stupid!I only liked Ruby,Miss Stevens,Abby and the blind Guy which is why I gave it 2 stars , I'll give All That Glitters a shot because Ruby was so great!

Summary: Pearl in the Mist By VC Andrews
Review: I enjoyed reading this book very much, it deeply touched me and i cant wait to read more like this one. It was very deep and touched my heart. It made me think and wonder, and also it made me happy for the things i have instead of being unhappy for the things i dont. I cannot wait to read another one of VC Andrews books, they are always very delightful and enjoyable.

Review: i just finished reading this book and i find it really good the way Ruby lives her life being sent away to a boarding school with her twin sister Gisselle (whom she is not fond of) she has to leave her boyfriend behind her family her friends and her house but only when she arrives to Greenwood does she discover how precious life really is
