Summary: This book is a real treat!!!
Review: "Dating Big Bird" was a real hoot to read. Ellen is trying so hard to fight the urge to have her own child after delighting in her niece Nicole (aka "the pickle"). Watching her sister and her boss go through pregnancies has taken its toll and Ellen needs to make a decision on her own since her man Malcolm can't commit. The only thing I regret about this book is the fact that Ellen doesn't give birth. I would love a sequel of this to hear the stories she would tell!!!!

Summary: Zigman Delivers Bouncing Baby Book
Review: Okay, so my enjoyment of this book is largely based on an over-identification with the main character. Uh oh!

This is humorous fiction with substance and style. Zigman's pre-conception trimesters are a wonderful device and her story has a great balance of realistic sentiment, entertaining dialogue and modern fantasy.

Looking forward to Zigman's future literary offspring.

Summary: Charming and witty
Review: Dating Big Bird is one of the funniest novels I have recently read. The heroine's desire to become a mother is hilarious. The interaction between Ellen (the heroine) and Malcolm (her boyfriend) moved me; the author illustrates a more human and vulnerable side of relationships.

With funny lines and witty characters, Dating Big Bird is a must-read!

Summary: Great Piece of Fiction
Review: It's been awhile since a fiction novel has really pulled me in like this one. I read it in ONE night, (I was late for work the next day too) and just loved every word and page of it. The language is just great and it's a wonderful work of fiction. Great GREAT book.

Summary: Dazzeling!
Review: Another hit from Laura Z. Thank God 'women's fiction' is more than singletons and dieting. Dating Big Bird touches that nerve every woman (every person actually) has. The nerve about wanting and loving and the desire to share your life with something meaningful. I plowed through this in one sitting, but it's going to haunt me for a long time.

Summary: Laugh Out Loud Funny
Review: What could be better than reuniting with one of the most successful girls from high school only to discover that most of what you see is an illusion--and that you're kindred spirits after all! The scenes between aunt and niece (The Pickle) are tender and true, and the whole book is much "nicer" than Animal Husbandry because there's no call for revenge. (But check that book out, too.) A happy read!

Summary: Dating Big Bird
Review: I love this author, this was her second book and I finished it in 4 hours (straight) I could not put it down. Beautifully written. I have never been very fond of fiction books until Zigman, It's a must read!

Summary: Started out good...
Review: I found this book to be entertaining...for about the first 200 pages. Which is not bad, considering that constitutes more than two-thirds of it. However, the ending seemed incredibly rushed. I wouldn't have minded the book ending the way it did (happily, of course) if the events had unfurled at the same pace as the rest of the story. It just felt as though the author was concerned about missing her deadline. It's too bad; the rest of the book was great!

Summary: Quick, easy read.
Review: This novel strived for a deep message but seemed to miss the mark, at least to me. I would suppose that it could be considered empowering, in a sense, but it had the same Hollywood fairytale ending they all do.

It was a decent book, and I finished it in one night. I have nothing really bad to say about it, but it's certainly not thought provoking literature or worthy of excessive praise. If you need a little escapism fluff to read on the beach or while waiting at the doc's office, here it is.

Summary: Dating Big Bird
Review: What a wierd book! Even before opening the cover you know it's going to be... interesting... just by looking at the title. It's not what I expected at all. I figured it would be some really off the wall thing that wouldn't be good at all, but I was wrong. I wouldn't call it a piece of litterary genius or anything, but it was an amusing quick read. Ellen's comedic trials with her Pickle, were funny and touching. The eccentric characters that she meets are indeed a little out there, but I'm sure everyone could relate someone they knew in real life to these uncoventional friends. Although I took this book as a light comedy, it does touch on some serious issues. The whole subject of invetro fertilization itself is contriversial, and the acceptance from parents, family, and friends is a very real side effect when dealing with this issue. I thought that besides a good laugh, this book provided a glimpse into human behavior in situations that most of us won't ever have to face.
