Rating: Summary: Excellent Review: There were two reasons that led me to purchasing this book. One the author is a Christian which was apparent by her beautiful choice of scriptures throughout the story, and two because the author is a fellow Hamptonian such as myself. Temptation was excellent! Victoria Murray captured the feelings of each character so vividly. I could feel what each person was going through and knew that only God would be able to guide them back to happiness. I could barely put the book down. Now I look forward to her next book, not just because she is a Christian who went to Hampton University, but because she is a wonderful writer. My people, my people...this goes to show that every book by an African-American author does not have to be about vulgarity and ghetto-ness in order to make for a good read. Hats off to Victoria Murray!
Rating: Summary: Inspiring Review: This book was wonderful! Never before have I read a book that was so inspiring. I loved the characters devotion to God and family, and that is what we are lacking in today's society! It just reminds me that with GOD, all things are possible. I especially loved the various scriptures the author used throughout the book! They fit right in with the everyday trials that we must go through! All I can say is that it was simply marvelous!
Rating: Summary: Ultimate betrayal!!!Envy,Broken,Unforgiving!! Review: Victoria Christopher Murray!!Outstanding job!!!A sequel is a must!!! Kyla Blake has it all, her faith in God, a Husband who has faith in God, a beautiful Daughter, a beautiful home, and her best friends who are like sisters. Oh but you have to watch your sister girls, especially around your man. Jefferson has it all a beautiful wife, a successful career, a strong belief in God, but oh he is a man, and just a man, Jasmine is the friend who can't see straight, because that green monster is blocking her view (envy) and she sets out to be Kyla and this is the ultimate betrayal. Now thank goodness for Kyla's parents and her real friend Alexis, because with their help and the power of God, there may be hope after all. The power of God is strong because Jasmine will also learn that what she has been chasing and seeking is not the key to her happiness and when she finally goes to visit her family after she starts to self destruct, the Power of God is working. In this story I wanted Kyla to go ghetto on the situation, but she doesn't but a confrontation must take place. (Victoria I hope you are working on this). This story is compelling and one you will carry with you every where you go, until you reach the last page, last sentence. It is worthy for all to read. If you are a Spiritual person this book is suitable and not out of context to read and if you are not very Spiritual it is enjoyable also. Victoria Christopher Murray has written this book with such appeal and expertise that if it is not part of your library, you are missing an incredible story. READ IT, you will enjoy it!!!
Rating: Summary: To Hot to hold and to cold to believe... Review: This was a well written Christian book. I really enjoyed the scriptures that were included with the different situation that arose. Jasmine was the typical friend in life that really envies ones' happiness and because she's not happy she does not care about the next person. Kyla was a trooper more so than I would have been seeing her best friend in her bed only to turn and run from the room and leave. Jefferson on the other hand was a true man and standing up to his mistakes and choosing not to lie about it to get back in good with his wife. Alex and Brian were also true friends in doing whatever it took to try and keep their dear friends marriage together. I'm just glad Nicole didn't have to be in the middle of her parents problems like so many children do and then are forced to take sides and hold grudges against their parents. This is a must read Christian relationship book.
Rating: Summary: Trifling Dribble Review: ... that about sums it up! Predictable, bugeois, staged, swill. Please, please my people - just because it's an African-American author does not mean you have to read this mess!
Rating: Summary: A Blessing Review: This is a true case of fiction imitating life. The story covers all aspects of life. Showing us that with out God we can do nothing. My favorite part was when Jefferson ask God to forgive him, he was man enough to say out loud and to God he had made a mistake. This is all God ask of any of us to just confess to him. Joy is on my too read list I can't wait to get started on it.
Rating: Summary: A MUST READ! Review: This is one of the best stories I have ever read. You felt everything the characters felt. It was awesome! To make it even better it has God and the bible all throughout the book. Now how could you possibly go wrong when God is in it! :-) Please...do yourself a favor..read this book and then encourage others to do so. You won't regret it!
Rating: Summary: Be Not Tempted Review: Temptation is a real facet in today's society. Scriptures teach us that "the Spirit is willing but the flesh is weak". This book is a valuable learning tool in knowing how trust God to help us deal with betrayal, lust, temptation and how to forgive what society deems as unforgiveable.
Rating: Summary: Inspirational! Review: Truly an excellent book. It is apparent that Victoria Christopher Murray allowed the Spirit of God to guide her hand as she penned Temptation. A beautiful love story with valuable lessons on life, love, and our spiritual journey.I highly recommend this book.
Rating: Summary: Inspires and Entertains Review: A Christian perspective puts a refreshing spin on a familiar husband-cheats-on-wife-with-best-friend plot. Even though this story has been told over and over again in many books I've read, this one was very different in that the characters are strong Christians and they way they tackled the situation made the story a little more inspiring and hard to put down. The only thing I didn't like about the story was that I found it totally unrealistic that out of all of the wife's friends and family, none of them suggested that she leave her husband for what he did; but overall, I really enjoyed the book, it was hard to put it down once I started reading it- bottom line: I recommend it!
