Rating: Summary: A Must Read! Spiritual and Emotional! Review: When I picked up this book in the bookstore I thought it might be an intersting read. I figure I would read it and then put it at the bottom of the pile with some of the other books I've read along the way. Well I was wrong. This book was phenomonal! I think most of us try to lead our lives like a christian but sometimes it's a very difficult thing to do. But the writer shows how you can lead a very fulfilling christian life; however not without it's problems. I don't know if I was put in Kyla's shoes that I could respond the way she did in the face of adversity. The author wrote the book as not to demean people who don't have as close of a relationship with God as the characters do but instead make you want to have that type of relationship with God. I enjoyed the in depth way she delved into each of the charcters letting you know their thoughts and feelings. I found myself respecting Jefferson even though I was disappointed in him for his actions. I found Alexis to be the type of friend we all need in our lives: supportive yet honest(sometimes brutally). Jasmine... Words do not describe her. I couldn't believe her. She was really hanging off of the ledge of reality. Finally, Kyla she had more heart than many people I know. I think she needs to be commended. Although she went through normal reactions to her situation was able to stand up and come through it like the christian woman she is and not allow the devil to bring her down. We all need to find a life lesson in this story. Keep up the good work! Keep it coming I think you will find you have more of an audience than you ever thought you would find. God Bless.
Rating: Summary: So Far ---EXECELLENT!! Review: I am in the process of reading this book, and I must say that I can't put it down. I almost don't want to finish it, but I can't help myself. I hope that the end is just as good as the beginning. I will write more when i have finished reading.
Rating: Summary: There are many life lessons in this book. Review: God is truly glorified in this book. The author doesn't leave you guessing as to who is in control in this story, our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. It is truly about time that a Christian relationship is developed in a novel. This is a must read, a page turner and a novel that you will share with all your FRIENDS, MALE AND FEMALE. I look forward to hearing more from Victoria Christopher Murray. Your work is long overdue!!!!!
Rating: Summary: A Great story of love, deceit , infidelity and adultery !! Review: This is truly a GREAT story . If you never read another story this is a MRS( Must Read Story). Can you imagine your long time friend being envious, jealous ,and betray you with your husband? Can you imagine your friend saying to you she deserves your husband? This was the story between three good friends one married, one single, and one divorced. It almost had a twist of fatal attraction to it!!! Can a Christian man be tempted , enticed and fall into seduction when he loves his wife so!! Yes I know what we so often say about adultery but some times we need to take a second look to see just what the reasons are .Especially if you've got a good man that loves you!!! Read this story and you may change the way you view adultery and infidelity in a christian way. Yes it hurts but love does conquer all!!!
Rating: Summary: This was the best! Review: This has got to be one of the best books I've ever read. I held onto every page, I couldn't wait to get to the next page, the next chapter...and then I didn't want the book to be over. The characters are so believable, you get to know each one. You will either love them or hate them. You will feel for everything they went through. You will not want to put this book down! I loved Ms. Murray's writing style. She's easy to read and so enjoyable. This is a must read.
Rating: Summary: Review from the reviewer for the Dallas Morning News.... Review: Closing the pages to TEMPTATION...is like saying goodbye to your best friend. Kyla and Jefferson Blake have an idyllic life as upper-middle class African Americans. Their life is filled with activities associated with work, community leadership and rearing their precocious daughter, Nicole. Then tragedy strikes in the form of betrayal and the life they knew and loved is forever changed. The story of Kyla and Jefferson is as old as Adam and Eve. In fact, that is what makes this book so special and in the opinion of this critic, unique. Murray has written a Christian novel complete with scripture references and a road map for using that Christianity as a normal part of daily life. She succeeds in making readers so closely identify with her characters' approach to life that regardless of the reader's faith, the understanding of what faith can add to one's life is a message that sticks even when one finishes the book. Murray's approach is different. The characters so thoroughly live their faith that when they quote scripture, it sounds natural. This is an outstanding first-time effort. Overall, Murray gives us a wonderful story that offers something for everyone, regardless of their faith.
Rating: Summary: WOW!!! Review: First, It took me 5 days to read the book. What can I say.. Wow, I truly enjoy the book from the begining to the ending. Jefferson was picture as a real life everyday tempted man. I saw in the book how a true man of God handle his temptation and how hard it was for him to bring his self and as well as his family back in peace with God. Alexis , the wife , she is a woman, who has to deal with every emotions and you display them very well. Great way to show people how God can take a temptation issue and use it for his good. I can go on and on about everyone in the book. If you need a book to read and need to trust God at the same time READ THE BOOK. Great book. Please read it.
Rating: Summary: Tempted to Rate This Book A Three Review: Temptation is a good book. It was a very slow read for me. I give it a four because of the principal and the moral to the story. The delivery just wasn't exciting. It's more of a story telling how you feel after someone cheats and the biblical fight to honor your vows. Being that I am engaged, I would hope that I could apply the same biblical principles to my marriage if that was to happen to me. Jasmine, which is Kyla's best friend, is lonely. She has lost her husband, has affairs with married men, has very few friends, and figures she can find happiness if she has Kyla's husband. Jasmine brings the greatest hurt ever to Kyla. Kylas has to decide if she can honor her marriage, or let go because of her husband's mistake. Jasmine also finds out that married men only use you for what you are worth, but really love their wives (hint to all you homewreckers). In the end, you are left lonely. It is a good book. It just lacked spice and excitement.
Rating: Summary: Great story!!! Review: A friend recommended that I read this book and I just said okay. The beginning of the book had me wondering what in the world is going on and then as the story went on I realized it. This book was well written and I truly recieved the message that the author was trying to send. It truly let me know that the devil will use anybody and especially those close to you when you least expect it. I receommend this book for all christians to read and to learn from it.
Rating: Summary: Highly recommended Review: I enjoyed reading this book, but sometimes I thought the characters were too good to be true. I realize it is a work of fiction, but it does serve as a model of how we need to confront problems as Christians. I appreciated all the scriptural references they used to support what they were doing. I even liked the female pastor dynamic that was present. I liked Temptation better than Joy, but would recommend them both.
