Rating: Summary: They Learn A New Love As Family When Tragedy Occurs Review: Mikaela Campbell, beloved wife and mom of two, lies in a coma. It is now up to her husband, Liam, to hold the fort together, to care for their grieving, and frightened children. Doctors have told Liam not to expect a miracle recovery, but he maintains hope that love can accomplish what medical science cannot. Day after day he sits by her bedside, holding her hand, telling her the stories of their life together. Then he discovers evidence of his wife's secret past-a long hidden first marriage to international movie star Julian True. Liam's search leads him to a painful, inescapeable truth: Julian was more than simply Mikaela's first husband. He was the love of her life. Mikaela responds to julian's name; it is only a blink, nothing more, but it convinces Liam that Julian may be the only person who can bring her back to life. But at what cost? Does Liam love his wife enough to risk losing her to a man no woman can resist? I enjoyed the book a lot. I found it very engrossing all the way through!
Rating: Summary: Wonderful story Review: When Liam's wife, Michaela falls into a coma, he pushes his fears aside and calls her ex-husband, Julian, a hollywood celebrity, in hopes that his presence will pull her out of the coma. He discovers her life with Julian while she is in a coma, but knows it may be the only way to bring her back to him and her children. This story was so captivating. Ms Hannah really depicted Liam's struggle with the new discovery of her life before him, which she had kept a secret. And when she does come to and only remembers her ex-husband and not her current wife, the reader can really understand what Liam is going through as he continues to love his wife despite the realization that she may not love him like he does her. This is a definate must read. It is my first book by Kristin Hannah and it won't be the last. She is a wonderful writer.
Rating: Summary: Gripping Love Story! Review: I enjoyed this story very much and believe that anyone who likes books of this nature will enjoy this story as much as I did!
Rating: Summary: A wonderful Love story Review: Wow. What a wonderful book. I read Kristin Hannah's "On Mystic Lake" and fell in love with her writing style. I had to read more of her books. The next book i found of hers was "angel falls" This is a powerful story with characters who seem to come to life. Liam becomes the "perfect" husband in the way he shows how much he cares for Mike. Julian is a guy that ever girl has in her life. A man that you love because of passion and obsession. Julian is every girls dream and he knows that. He isn't able to love the way Mike (aka Kayla) needed him to. THis is a wonderful story with many exciting parts. The only bad thing about it is that it ended.
Rating: Summary: INCREDIBLE STORY AND WONDERFUL AUTHOR Review: What an amazing author and and incredible story! I am NOT an avid reader...picked this book up at the airport for a three hour flight. I COULD NOT put it down! I finished the book before going to bed...and have bought three other titles of Kristin Hannah's since! I am HOOKED on this author! Every book I read of hers, I can't put down. I highly recommend this book and EVERY book Kristin Hannah publishes!!!
Rating: Summary: Buenas Noches Ms. Hannah Review: This is one Latino lady that after reading the posted reviews found it interesting that not one of these mentioned the Mexican heritage of the heroine, Mike. Mike's poverty and background is pertinent to the storyline, but maybe other reviewers were trying to be politically correct in not mentioning this aspect of Mike's mixed heritage. I only mention the fact because of the heroines name, and to the extent that we are presented with several variations of her given name Mikaela (Mike and Kayla) as her nicknames. The name in Spanish, incidently, is spelled Micaela, no "k" in it. I found it distracting that there were several errors in the Spanish spoken by Rosa, Mike's mom. The most obvious of these was "Buenos Noches", which even non-Spanish speaking readers may have caught. The other flubs were wrong conjugation of a Spanish word, or incorrect use of a phrase. I liked the story well enough, at least up until the time Mike woke up from her coma, but I found it distracting that the Spanish words thrown in were often incorrect. It would have been better had the author had someone fluent in Spanish read through her novel first before its publication. Like I indicated, the book was entertaining, but I found the second part of the story to be too contrived, it pretty much fell flat after Julian arrived on the scene and Mike woke up from her coma. Liam was too forgiving of a wife that kept her obsession with Julian (a pillowcase in her closet filled with momentos of a first marriage) hidden from him for over ten years time. I enjoyed Ms. Hannah's novel Mystic Lake, and others as well, but do not think that this this is on par with those others.
Rating: Summary: At What Price Love? Review: In a mythical small town in Washington State, Dr. Liam Campbell and Mikaela (Mike) have a life together with their two children and their horses. Their life appears to be a classic fairy tale until tragedy strikes. While exercising a horse, Mikaela is thrown and hits her head, putting her into a coma. The lengths Liam goes to in order to help her recover are incredible. As he attempts to maintain some semblance of normalcy, and while looking for a dress for his teenaged daughter to wear to her Prom, Liam finds evidence of Mikaela's former life. Although he knew she had been married before, he was not prepared to find that she had been married to one of the most famous movie stars in the world: Julian True. Just the mention of Julian's name elicits a response from Mikaela while she is in the coma, so Liam makes a decision to call him and see if he can come up to Washington to help revive her. What follows next is a testimony to the depths of a man's love for a woman. Angel Falls is written from a man's point of view and delves into how someone copes with life threatening injury to a loved one. This book is well written. Each of the characters is believable, including the main characters, Mikaela and Liam. You truly feel that you are in their lives, watching all that goes on. You feel Liam's pain as he discovers that his wife of 10 years was in love with another man. You are hoping, as the book progresses, that Liam and Mikaela will remain together and "live happily every after." I rate this at 4 stars.
Rating: Summary: A romance novel The Christian Right would be proud of Review: "Angel Falls" was very disapointing especially when I was expecting meatier fare. Usually I read Nora Roberts or Virgina Henly and I am used to either alot of plot twists or a few sexy bedroom romps. This book has niether. What it does have is a very tedious plot and absolutly NO sex!!!!!If you are looking for a juicy romance to sweep you away this book is not it!!!!!!!!
Rating: Summary: Makes you think Review: Love...means different things to different couples. What is better? Fireworks or stability? When the heroine in this book wakes up from her coma, she has to answer that question to go on with her life. Her husband is one that all women would want by their bedside. The true meaning of the word "family" also becomes clear to her. I even ached for the sacrifices and mistakes her mom made to raise her daughter. Definitely a love story of the highest order.
Rating: Summary: Angel does fall... Review: This was actually the first novel by Kristin Hannah that I read; but since then I have read IF YOU BELIEVE, ON MYSTIC LAKE, WAITING FOR THE MOON, and ONCE IN EVERY LIFE. I thought ANGEL FALLS was an okay at first; however, since reading the previous mentioned novels, [this one didn't strike me as the best of them all]. Yes, the characters are as vivid and tangible as the characters in her other novels, but the plot...the plot is contrived and falls flat by the end of the book. The story is simple--Mikaela Campbell falls into a coma after an accident, and her husband, Liam comes to realize that his devoted and saintly wife was actually married to one of the most famous actors on the planet, Julian True. Julian is called upon to help revive Mikaela, and the story takes some interesting twists and turns... Some parts of the book acutally made me think I was reading a script for the movie of the week on the LIFETIME channel. There is a shameless plug in the novel about ON MYSTIC LAKE being screened in Hollywood... Like I mentioned before, I think Kristin Hannah is a wonderful writer and her stories are fully-developed and emotional, but this one is not. I will re-read her other novels, but ANGEL FALLS has already been placed on the shelf to collect dust.
