Rating: Summary: I couldn't put the book down! Review: I really enjoyed reading this tightly woven story. Not only was it interesting and intelligently written, it focused on believable characters. It looked at the uppwardly mobile professional from a different side and made her three dimensional. The book is less than 200 pages, so I could satisfy my desire to read to the end without getting completely drained while trying to complete the novel in a few sittings. For anyone who has had dreams of the future and had to temper them with reality, it strikes a chord.
Rating: Summary: Great realistic story!!! Review: This book is wonderful!!! I started reading it and could not put it down until I was finished. It's easy reading and the story is so very realisitic re: the fears, feelings, hopes, desires of all women, not just African American women. Kendall played a pivotal role in her friends lives, but her shortcomings are those each of us have or sometimes experience. I am anxiously awaiting Traci's next book and will surely purchase it!! She is definitely on her way to joining the ranks of Bebe Campbell Moore and Terry McMillian. I will be attending a book signing of hers tomorrow and cannot wait to meet this up and coming new novelist!!
Rating: Summary: An insightful novel about surviving sexual abuse Review: Written by Traci Marquis, a talented African-American female author, I Can't Cry: A Journey From Shame To Redemption is a compelling and insightful novel about surviving sexual abuse. I Can't Cry deftly traces the paths of three women, each of whom find themselves unable to escape the shameful demons of their past, or even vocalize why they seem to run away from every opportunity, be it good, bad, or mediocre. I Can't Cry is recommended as being a powerfully written, utterly believable story, well grounded in genuine emotion, and about what it takes to turn one's life around in the wake of unspeakable wrongness.
