Summary: Disapointing
Review: There was nothing in this book that kept me reading it. I have read 2 other books since starting this one. I'd read 2 chapters, then pick up another more interesting book. I finally finished it, and it left me cold. I didn't care for it much at all! Sorry Omar!

Summary: I'm Sorry
Review: Now ya'll i try not to down my favorite black authors, but this book did not catch me totally. When I read a book I usually can't put it down but this book I put it down alot. The storyline with each one of the characters and their private lives could have been more in depth and the book could have had a little more action. To be totally honest his books have not really caught my attention since "Flyy Girl" came out. I was mad about "Do right Man", and I am glad to say that Do right man and Single Mom were two books that I did not pay for, a friend loaned them to me. Sorry about the bad review Omar.

Summary: Unsatisfied and still hungrey
Review: Single Mom started off pretty good and exciting. That was one of the reasons for purchasing the book...Sad to say that was the downfall. The farther I went, the worse it got. I have read almost all of Omar's books and I can honestly say that this is the worse one. I hope that we can look forward to something alot better in the future...Meaning beginning to end. Not beginning to page 27. Thanks for your time.... Unsatisfied and still hungrey.

Summary: A Wonderful and Inspiring Novel
Review: I have read and enjoyed everything that Omar Tyree has written, I fact his "Capitol City" book started me to read more books, especially books written by black authors. Initially I could not relate to the charaters in the novel, because I am not a single mom, but I am a product of a single parent household. As I continued to read I found the story to be inspiring. I never realized all the struggle that a lot of women are made to overcome alone. This is a very good book, this book had made me approach the single mom epidemic in a different light. Add this book to your collection as I have, and support the young black brother.

Summary: OMAR YOU ARE THE BEST
Review: THIS WAS A BOOK THAT I COULD NOT PUT DOWN. I STAYED UP LATE NIGHTS AND TOOK LONG BREAKS AT WORK. OMAR KNOWS HOW TO KEEP THE READINGS ATTENTION IN ALL AREAS. MY FAVORITE PERSON OF ALL WAS JAKE. I COULD NOT BELIEVE HOW CRAZY HE WAS.THESE DAYS IT IS HARD TO FIND SOMEONE TO BE BY YOUR SIDE. THIS WAS A PAGE TURNER AND I MEAN PAGE AFTER PAGE.KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK. THOSE WHO GAVE BELOW A 3 NEEDS TO COME OUT AND MEET HIM. THEY HAVE TO LISTEN TO HIM SPEAK AND LEARN HOW THIS BOOK CAME ABOUT. ONCE AGAIN YOU HAVE CAUGHT MY EYES. IM LOOKING FORWARD TO READING SWEET ST LOUIS. IMANI HEADQUARTERS IN CALI

Summary: Simply Awful!
Review: How about zero stars. I was hoping after the disappointment with Tyree's "A Do Right Man", that this would be an improvement. I could not even finish this book. I kept having to turn back and re-read portions of it. It was that boring. I wish that I could get my money back. Any future books that I TRY to read by Mr. Tyree will be from the library, that way I am not wasting my money.

Summary: A REAL TRUE TO FORM STORY
Review: SINGLE MOM WAS NOT ONLY A STORY THAT OMAR TYREE SPOKE OF, BUT A STORY THAT MAGNIFIED LIFE TO SO MANY PERSONAL STORIES OF TODAY'S WOMEN. I ESPECIALLY LIKED THE POSITIVE IMAGE OF EACH PERSON'S CHARACTER. YOU DON'T HEAR OFTEN ENOUGH HOW IMPORTANT THE PRESENCE OF BOTH PARENTS ARE IN A CHILD'S LIFE, REGARDLESS OF THEIR PERSONAL CIRCUMSTANCES. THE AUTHOR GAVE SPECIAL NOTICE TO SINGLE MOMS AND THE REALITY OF THEIR LIVES. HE WROTE AS IF HE PUT HIMSELF IN EACH CHARACTER'S PLACE GIVING NOTHING LESS THAN THE TRUTH.

Summary: I couldn't even finish it.
Review: I assumed, based on how much I liked flyy Girl, that all of Omar Tyree's books would be thoroughly entertaining. I was wrong. This book was so...preachy. Almost like he was trying to convert all wayward confused women who make bad decisions about their life into emotionally strong women who can always see where they are going wrong, and can stop themselves from making mistakes, with this one book. I tried real hard to get through the whole book, but in the end I just couldn't do it. It just didn't speak to me. There are too many books in the world, to waste time reading a poorly written one. I don't know if I would want to chance reading any more of his books, although the premises sound mighty interesting.

Summary: Nice, but too philosophical
Review: Overall, I enjoyed the book, however, the conversations among all characters were constantly philosophical which did not seem realistic. The character of Denise was not very well portrayed particularly because throughout the book I basically saw only one side of her personality (the tough, businesslike type) whether in private moments with Brock or in business situations. Everyone preached and preached and I got the impression that the author basically wanted an opportunity to voice his opinions on the issue on single parenting and Black America so he did it in this book. Despite these flaws however, it is apparent that Tyree is an extremely, talented writer and I look forward to reading more from him in the future.

Summary: The book was terrific. The book was a true inspiration.
Review: Single Mom, was truly a good book to invest in. I am a single mom and the way Omar wrote it was hitting the nail on the head. The character(s) in the book were real and it was like I knew them for real. For those who hasn't gotton the book, please invest in it. You will not regret it.
