Summary: Friendly, witty, amazing book
Review: This book is told by Vivian in an honest, down-to-earth and funny tone. Vivian takes us through the last year or two of her life, starting when she first won a song-writing contest and got to visit New York City, and continues when she decides to move to New York City with her best friend. Vivian tells about her move to New York, the ups and downs of getting a decent job, describes some boyfriend ups and downs, etc. This book is an autobiography; however, since it has a lot of Bridget-Jones meets New York City type of stuff (but better) you can just as easily place it in the "Chick Lit" category. Vivian doesn't hold back too much in this book - she is pretty honest! I enjoyed how she told both the good and the bad, and went into details when it was necessary. There are love scenes in this book, but they are told with enough tact and eloquence that I would still recommend the book to everyone. So many of the "Chick Lit" books out there have some downright crude wording in them - this one doesn't. Vivian also talks about how she went from being a waitress, to an Administrative Assistant at VH1, to finally having her own website. When you finish this book, you will feel as though Vivian is your friend. I recommend this book to all women out there, especially the ones who are trying to make it on your own!

Summary: Cute book with even cuter website!
Review: Vivian is imminently likeable, and following her through various relationships and career dilemmas is a lot of fun. You definitely have to suspend disbelief to buy the plot developments, but Vivian is a fun enough gal to make it worthwhile.

The plot comes to a close pretty rapidly, without really developing the final events or characters, and the writing is only mediocre. It's Vivian's sheer charm that carries the book and makes it worth reading.

You MUST see the companion website VivianLives.com!! WAY more fun, totally girly and captivating!

Summary: Painful
Review: Vivian professes to be a college graduate. Unfortunately, her "autobiography" seems to be written by a 5th grader. Beyond the boring plot and uninspiring heroine, this book suffers from a horrible writing style that is distracting and irritating.

Summary: This book is great!
Review: What is going on here? Why these vicious reviews of this book! I loved it. In fact, I have told everyone I know about [it], and I think that it is so funny.
Vivian is a born comedian with everyday trials and drama. Her descriptions made me miss New York so much it hurt.
This book isn't War and Peace, but do you really want to take notes to understand a book? NO! I read this book twice, one time when I first picked it up, and then again this Fall, when I was out of the country and having guy troubles, it reminded me of home (America), and also took my mind off of the guy I was seeing.
I cannot wait to read the sequel, and I think this should take the place of Sex and the City on HBO when it goes off the air!
I will continue to tell everyone I know to buy this! It is GREAT!

Summary: I have no idea what I just read
Review: Where oh where do I begin? First off, I'm glad I bought it used, but I really wished I had checked it out of the library. I know that this book wasn't meant to be deep or anything like that. I like fluffy reads as much as the next chick, but even fluff should be entertaining and whisk you out of your own reality. When I read this, I felt that I was being given more of a synopsis of a book and not that real story itself. The author just rushes the reader along from scene to disjointed scene like Officer Barbrady in South Park ("Move along, nothing to see here"). While an informal narrative is nice, this book was just too chatty for me, and the inclusion of the abusive boyfriend just felt more like an afterthought than a real part of Vivian's character. The author really should have taken the time to write a second draft, because Vivian's character and the story really had the potential to be interesting.
