Summary: fun, fun, fun
Review: I am occasional visitor of the website vivianlives.com I did enjoy the book about vivian. It is written well. The characters are interesting and you want to read more and more. I liked reading about Vivian's background which is clearly written. The author's voice speaking through vivian is the perfect companion to the website, but stands alone fairly easily in the book as well.
I like Vivian. She is introspective and funny - not as whiney as you may find in other female centric books about single women in the world. Having nyc as a backdrop adds the perfect topping to the book. I could relate to lots of the amusing anecdotes throughout the book.
Even if you have not visited the website (and you should) you will enjoy this book.

Summary: I have no idea what I just read
Review: I am so glad that I waited to buy this book used. I don't know if I slept through part of the book or what. It jumped around so much I wasn't sure if she was talking about the past or the present. I also never understood the part about the cameras and getting used to being on camera. Where were the cameras? Were they in her apartment, at work, following her around everywhere? And the part about Jack was a little to Sex and the City - Carrie and Adian. I need to go take an aspirin.

Summary: Not bad at all!
Review: I have to admit, I was a bit skeptical about reading this book. The content seemed average. But I must say that once I got started I couldn't stop reading! If you are open to hearing about her life, personality and opinions than you will be very entertained. Her attitude was very amusing and situations interesting. I would love to meet this girl in real life-she's truly one of a kind!

Summary: could be better
Review: I have to agree that everything comes too easy for Vivian. Halfway through I found myself wanting to get over with it. I wish that this book had been better written. I mean please! I hope her next book is much better.

Anyway, Vivian is a single 20 something who moved to NYC and has to deal with "making it." Anyway, her job, her friends, everything just seems to come to easy for her. I'm a huge fan of the site but really I think that Sherrie Krantz should have spent more time writing a fun book, after all we all know that Vivian is a fictional character.

Anyway, please spare me! This should have been a fun book but instead, I was bored. I couldn't wait to finish it.

Summary: Loved Vivian, Wish Her Book Was Worthy Of Her
Review: I have to start by saying that Vivian is one of the most lovable, funny characters I've come across in quite a while. Her narrative was like chatting with a friend ("okay, so anyway..." "Anywho, moving on...") I even liked the multiple exclamation points and emoticons - I do that all the time when emailing my friends, so it rang true for me.

However, because Vivian was so cool it was a disappointment to see her stuck with such an unbelievable, Sex In The City wannabe story. As many times as I giggled out loud reading one of Vivian's daffy, totally genuine 20-something chick observations, I spent just as much time rolling my eyes at some of the more outrageous plot elements. So many things, big and small, were just completely ridiculous, from the very beginning when she writes a prize winning song (no prior musical experience, and she apparently never picks up a guitar again), to Vivian and Sophie affording a one-bedroom apartment in the Village on the money they earn as a part time waitress and a retail store clerk, to Vivian being offered a prestigious job by a VH1 bigwig just 'cause she's cute, to how she ended up with her own website. As Vivian herself might say, riiiiiiight!

I could have accepted the unrealistic elements and treated this as a bit of mindless, but entertaining, fluff if not for the back story of how this wonderfully vivacious and well adjusted heroine was just a few months outside of a four year long physically and emotionally abusive relationship. This was just blatantly ridiculous - at no time did Vivian demonstrate any characteristics of an abused woman. She was independent, outgoing, and quite willing to start new relationships. And when they turned sour, she had enough self respect to be the one to end them, and end them immediately. I had the uncomfortable feeling that this bit of Vivian's history was tacked on as an afterthought, in order to make her more sympathetic to readers who might be put off by her way too perfect life. It was unnecessary, and I would imagine very offensive to anyone who really has been the victim of abuse, by implying that overcoming such trauma is or should be this simple. I had a big problem with this, and my rating lost at least one star because of it. Vivian deserved better than this!

As a side note, I didn't realize when I bought the book that there really is a Vivian website, which apparently existed before the book was published. I was curious enough to go and check it out, and thought it was sorta cute (Hey look! There's Omelet!) but not much else. I can't really imagine what use someone who hadn't read the novel would have for it. I wonder, however, looking at how much effort has gone into the drawings and animation, if Vivian was originally conceived as a cartoon (kinda like Daria or King Of The Hill). As long as there were better storylines, that might be pretty cool...or should I say, clutch?!! :0)

Summary: you will love!!!
Review: I just can't stop recommending Viv's book - it was different - and very enjoyable to read. Here is my official unofficial review. I think some times we can teach the pros a thing or 2.

"Sweet and smart, emotional, inspiring and really really funny. In my opinion, "The Autobiography of Vivian" is the perfect summer read. As a (huge) fan of the Vivian website, I loved getting the scoop on how she really met her on/off boyfriend Jack, I loved how she started out rough around the edges and ended up knowing who she was, for better and for worse. Viv's novel showed me that so long as I keep my chin up and not let the tough stuff get me down, I too, can be the girl I know I am inside. I feel like I have a new best friend!"

Summary: I haven't finished it yet
Review: I just needed to know that I wasn't the only one who thought this book {was not good}. First of all, the author DESPERATELY needs a spell checker. I'm a sucker for grammar and even in the beginning of the book there are so many errors. Vivian appears to be a stupid woman desperate for attention and some kind of stardom. I'm not finished yet, but this book is an ego boost as I am planning to publish one day. If Krantz can be published, I should have no problem.

Summary: Not that impressed....
Review: I LOVED The Autobiograpy of Vivian and think that I gave it ***** stars. Not so for the sequel. I find it hard to believe that the same person wrote Vivian Lives since I laughed*and*laughed at almost every page of her first novel.

To be honest, I've forced myself to read maybe half of the book and am so dissapointed. I agree with other opinions that it's publicity hyped for her website www.vivianlives.com (which I still love).

This sequel was such a let down to me that I would not recommend unless you have trouble falling asleep at night....
