Summary: Fresh, different, young, free and CrEaTiVe...
Review: ...It took me six days to read this fun and creative 53-chapter book(project) (the chapters are not numbered, only one thrown puzzle piece opens each chapter - a lot like real life - but I put some order by penciling in the chapter #'s)... What appealed to me the most were the drawings of Vivian in the back of the book. She's almost like a Barbie doll (and is brunette like me). I might be a 32-year old, stressed-out mother of 3, but boy was it fun to remember when I went to NYC for the first time at age 20. Young and free just like Vivian. My stay in the big city was only 3 days, but this book made me rethink that had I stayed, my life would have probably turned out like Vivian's: Full of opportunity, fun, risks and freedom to do anything at all!!! But I have to admit, Vivian has that go-getter personality which I lacked and that had me back in my town too soon. It's fun to read about a single, childless woman every once in a while and vicariously enjoy things I can no longer do.... I'm also incredibly motivated to look for those "Vivianesque" photographs of me at age 20 in order to relive those precious moments of YOUTH in NYC!

Summary: Fun, Quick Read!!!
Review: After finishing "A Remembrance of Things Past" by Proust (which was great but not necessarily a light read), I was in the mood for a "fluffy" book that would be fun and give my brain a break. I work in a bookstore and this book was on a display table so I glanced over the summary on the back cover. The website address (vivianlives.com) was included there and that night I checked out the site. It was so cute, light-hearted and fun that the next day I purchased the book.
Obviously, I would not recommend this book if you are looking for something intellectual or thought-provoking. But that isn't the intent of this book so I think Ms. Krantz succeeded in creating a loveable, relatable character that is living a life that is a dream (to me, anyway). If you take it for what it is and that is what you are looking for, you will love this book and Vivian (and become a regular at her website like I have!).

Summary: The sequel rocks just as much as the first book...
Review: Again, don't know why such bad reviews but this is one of my favorite books.
Typical Chick Lit...just the way I like it.
The book picks up where the 1st one left off. This one is a little more deep and has some heartbreaking moments. You really feel for this character and want to see how she ends up.
That's why I'm so happy that 'The V Spot' has just been released. I'm 3/4 through and loving it.

Summary: Why Do I Care About Vivian?
Review: Basically, the huge flaw in this book was that I just didn't give a damn about our heroine--Vivian. Everything comes way way too easy for her--winning a random songwriting contest, getting a cool job at VH1, meeting and dating celebs, etc... Oh wait, we are told (thrown in, more like it) that she went through 4 years of (grief) with a verbally and physically abusive ex. Vivian seems pretty well adjusted, considering. The writing style leaves much to be desired, and the only character quasi-developed is Vivian. I really didn't enjoy reading this, but it did pass a Sunday afternoon. This did not flow nearly as well as the "Shopaholic" duo, or "Milkrun", for that matter.

Summary: Superb example of this genre
Review: Before I read this I was so sick of the bad chick books that i'd nearly given up, until I found this book while stuck in the Chicago airport desperate for something mindless to read. Well, it was indeed mindless, but completely funny and charming and totally like watching a good chick movie or TV show. I was laughing out loud. The writing is really upbeat and the sarcasm never gets grating. As other reviews state, the situations in it are less than believable, but the way Vivian experiences each one and goes through them is strangely believable. It was cute the way they put photos of actual NYC street scenes and superimposed her cartoon image on them. Hope she writes more of this character!

Summary: Great for "light" reading...
Review: Don't be expecting 'A Heartbreaking Work of Staggering Genius' going into this, and you won't be dissapointed. This book does all it set out to do- it's fun, humorous, and (somewhat) relatable. Not exactly thought-provoking, but if you're just looking for a sitcom-ish novel, this is the perfect choice! Plus, the website is the cutest thing.

Summary: So-So
Review: Honestly, this is one of those books that I could go two different ways on. On the one hand, Vivian makes some rather hilarious observations. But, more often than not, you just want to stick your hand through the cover and slap her until she stops whining. This girl has a better life than most of us even dream of! So please Vivian, unless you are now living in a homeless shelter and eating out of dumpsters, SIT DOWN AND SHUT UP!

Summary: Yes! Yes! Yes! LMAO!
Review: I absolutely LOVED this book! You actually feel like you are having a conversation with your best girlfriend over latte while you are reading this book. I laughed out loud so many times from getting her first "Brazilian wax" to her crashing out at her boyfriends place for the first time after a night of cocktails, not knowing that her turqiouse undies were in plain view the next morning - she wakes up and he says, "So...what's up J-Lo?"

Vivian is so extremely honest and forces us to remember that "one" guy in every girls life that may have not treated us so kindly and was somewhat abusive to us. Yes, we've all been there at one time or another. But, she keeps on going on and is bound and determined , "I will show him". She makes you remember what it's like to go on first dates and the games that men/women play IE; The Rules.

I seriously think that anyone - no matter what age you are, you will laugh-out loud at this book! I can't wait until her next novel - ...

Summary: Amusing narritve about a woman with so much wit and sarcasm
Review: I absolutley loved this novel. I wanted to read something that would help me to escape my chaotic world for a little bit. This novel was based on a fictional character named Vivian who is in her twenties. The story portrays a woman who has previously gotten out of a physically and emotionally abusing relationship. Vivans strength and good intuition allows her to move forward with her life by making a name for herself in New York City. I liked the story because it was honest and uncomfortable at moments as Vivan goes through the trials and tribulations of being a single woman in the big city. Once I began reading, I couldn't put the book down until the very end. As I finished this novel, I was already anticipating Where Vivan's life would take her from its current status!
