Rating: Summary: Prodigal Husband is a book that's worth reading! Review: I picked this book up and couldn't put it down - it is a must read. My intention was to read a few chapters and then turn in for the night but each page and each chapter kept me going because I wanted to know what would happen next. At times I found myself yelling at Sheila because of her manipulations and Jakes blindness to her games. She was telling him what she was doing by injecting her actions on Tori and accusing her of doing those things she was doing. Diverting the attention on Tori and creating doubt in Jake's mind about his wife. The good thing is Tori and Jake would end up talking about the accusation. The writing, the plot, and the character presentation was absolutely excellent. It constantly moved and had you wanting to know what was going to happen next. Jacquelin Thomas has captured real life events and details what happens when you turn to others with problems in a marriage or about a spouse. She also detailed what goes on when we don't know how to seek God or we turn our back on God but she noted the positive results of faith and prayer when we seek God for strength and guidance. This was evident in the death bed scene of Gwendolyn Madison. The strength, dedication and love that Tori and Jake had for each other was evident but the down fall in the relationship is the lack of communication and trust with each other and God. When they finally realized and did what was necessary, the end results were complete union, peace, comfort and fellowship with each other and God. They were complete in mind, body, soul and spirit and ultimately complete as a family unit.
Rating: Summary: Her first book was a hit, but not this one. Review: I am in a Christian women's bookclub and they read this however I was not impressed. Most of the young ladies thoroughly enjoyed the book. I thoroughly enjoyed her first book "Singsation." That was one of the best books I have read. This was not a novel of faith like Singsation. I expected more on faith and less drama. This was a soap opera not an uplifting book. The characters were really weak as well as the storyline. I think she is a good writer so I am going to try her other books.

Rating: Summary: It's Good Review: Within the first five pages this book will grab your attention. It has it's moments where it drags towards the middle of the book (hence the 4 stars) but overall it's a good buy. You'll enjoy it.

Rating: Summary: Excellent Book! Review: Jacquelin Thomas has a wonderful way of engaging the reader and making them fall in love with her characters. I don't understand some of the negative reviews on this book, but I guess we are all entitled to our opinions so here goes mine. The story of Tori and Jake was great in that it was not a common one. Statistics report that infidelity will affect 70% of all marriages, but thank God, not as many of us have to live through the death of a child. Ms. Thomas did a great job of showing us the depth of these people's pain. I also appreciate the underlying committment to their marriage. Marriage is a challenge. Many will give up when they perceive it's gotten too difficult, but God can and will repair a troubled marriage. Even when Tori and Jake were seperated, their hearts and souls were knit together. God uses this connection to heal even the deepest marital wounds. I thank Ms. Thomas for the message that reconciliation is possible for us all...to our spouses and to our Lord.
Rating: Summary: Weak Story Review: This book wasn't all that good as some of the reviewers says. Actually, I think it was a stupid story. The husband was so blind and stupid and his wife was a wusp. Don't waste your time or money on this one. Instead read, "That Faith, That Trust, That Love."
Rating: Summary: Slow and Repetitive Review: Oh people, I got to tell you the truth. This story is so slow and the author repeats the same things over and over again. Another thing is that black people do not talk like the characters the author is portraying. This is a good book title, but it needs another storyline with stronger black characters that don't pretend to sound white. Sad to say, I could not finish this book because it was going in circles. I skimmed through it and of course, predictability was inevitable. The main character, Jake, really was not what one would call a "prodigal husband." Thomas should have made his character more like the prodigal son of the Holy Bible. Jake didn't do enough dirt to be considered a prodigal husband. I'd like to see Terri MacMillan or Sister Souljah rewrite this story using the same title, or perhaps a strong contemporary christian fiction writer could rewrite it. I love christian fiction, but I wasn't feeling this story at all.
Rating: Summary: Excellent Review: Now I must say I am accustom to readng novels that are a little more provocative so far as the language and nature of the book, but I must say I have held opn to this book for a little while thinking that I would not like it, because I thought it would be boring, but I am actually enjoying this book. The storyline is something that trully happens in marriages everyday and the stroy of tori and jake and the manipulative woman that wants jake kinda keeps you interested, even the othe stroylines in te book pull you in. So I recommend this book to readers who usually read the more provacative material. Trust me, if you like to read this story is worth reading!
