Rating: Summary: Emotions by Timothy McCann Review: I read the book in one day. couldn't put it down. felt the characters were well portrayed. Could really relate to the story. You felt the intensity and the pain and the joy as it unfolded to develop the relationships that existed. You really felt like you knew the characters and related to everyday experiences. Everyone has been caught up in some type of drama and it isn't about blame or fault but how you deal with it. It made it appear as if it was a kaleidoscope of the heart. I have read all of this authors books and can't wait until the next one. Great book. Recommending it to all my friends.
Rating: Summary: Best of them all Review: I've read all of the books by this author and I have to admit that this one was the best of them all....The research that he utilized to get the best of both the male and female views were great. And I'm also trying to find out where I can get some of those ingredients for that "perfect" bath...=) Much luv Timm, keep up the good work and I look forward to your new books as well as your journey back to Jacksonville soon.....
Rating: Summary: Timothy McCann Scores Big With Emotions Review: If the field of writing and publishing literary pieces was looked upon as a baseball game, then it would certainly be appropriate to say that author Timothy McCann has truly scored a home run with his latest novel, Emotions.Emotions could not have been more appropriately titled, whereas readers are destined to experience a wide range of emotions while reading McCann's latest offering. Few books have ever made me laugh one minute and cry the next. Yet Emotions did just that. One moment I was holding my side laughing, the next I was wiping tears from my eyes. McCann's gift for words is quite apparent as he weaves a story about ordinary people, yet does it in an extraordinary way. McCann allows us to see the frailness and weakness that comes with being human. We witness this as we watch the story's heroine, Joi Weston tormented with choosing between the man she married and the handsome gentleman whose recently caught her attention and allows her to experience firsthand what the old saying, "I'm married not blind or dead," means. In addition to great storytelling, Emotions is bound to go over big with readers due to its, "I can see that actually happening" type of storyline. McCann doesn't paint far-fetched scenarios, but rather scenes that easily allow readers to empathize with the characters. And it is the empathy that develops that will have readers begging Mr. McCann to bring the novel's characters back again. I would highly recommend the reading of Emotions. I am convinced that once readers read it and experience the strength of the characters, the power of love, the torture of indecision and scenes so well depicted you feel you're in the room with the characters, a re-read won't have to recommended. A re-read will be automatic, because readers will find it most difficult to part with the fascinating characters. In fact, if you'd excuse me, re-reading this fabulous novel was exactly what I was in the process of doing before deciding to share my thoughts with the public. Enjoy...I certainly am!!
Rating: Summary: EMOTIONS is a keeper to read over and over and... Review: If you have ever read a Timmothy McCann book, you will not be disappointed when you read EMOTIONS. This book was amazing, to say the least. It was one of the most emotional reads I have read this year and believe me I read alot. I experienced quite a few different emotions whil reading this very touching story. I laughed, cried, and prayed as the words came to life as I read. When the story ended and I wiped away the last of my tears, I wasn't ready to put the book down. I only hope that Mr. McCann is planning to write a sequel soon. Move over Eric, there's a new man in my life! I also recommend I KNOW WHO HOLDS TOMORROW by Francis Ray
Rating: Summary: YOU WILL FEEL THIS ONE Review: Joi is not receiving the kind of attention she feels she deserves from her political husband Phil who had an affair a long time ago. Michael is an ordinary guy who is raising his son alone while trying to follow in his father's footstep of becoming a writer. Michael and Joi meet through Joi's brother. Read this emotional novel to find out how through Ani, Michael's novel's became a hit. You will feel the emotion between Phil and Joi, Michael and Joi, and Ani and Michael.
Rating: Summary: Feelings Review: Joi Weston's world is spinning out of control. Her marriage to businessman Phillip Evans is stale and her acting career is in the toilet. She finds herself at a crossroad, not exactly sure of the road that she should take. Joi and Phillip have experienced a very painful tragedy and instead of it drawing them together it tears them apart. Michael Brockmier is a sexy writer with a secret. By chance, he meets Joi and in that instant he thinks that he has found his soulmate. The fact that Joi is married is inconsequential to him and he is determined to have her at any cost. Michael's major issue is simple ; it's all about him and what he wants. Michael does not care who his actions harm as long as he is happy. In Timmothy McCann's latest novel Emotions, he makes you feel every possible emotion. Love, hate, lust, pain and many more emotions are brought to the surface in this book. The characters and their development throughout the story is awesome and watching their metamorphosis is like watching a caterpillar transform to a butterfly. I highly anticipate Timmothy McCann's next literary contribution and highly recommend that readers take a chance on Emotions. Reviewed by Simone A. Hawks
Rating: Summary: LOVED IT Review: Life isn't predictable and I was so happy to see neither was "Emotions". It's the story about a fading black film star name Joi who's glory has come and gone, a woman who went from starring on Broadway to playing a foster mother to a little white kid on television. It's about Joi waking up one morning and wondering if all the sacrifices she's made was worth it. Then there's Michael, a black writer, trying desperately to step from under his literary-famous dead father, of which he bears the same name. He struggles to create a novel worthy of his name and finds himself unprepared for what that battle will mean. Michael and Joi are worlds apart both in age, marital status and even states, meet. They are both looking for something and though they both think they know what that something is, they really don't know until they find it. I loved this novel for a lot of reasons: the characters were fully created and experienced all the emotions of the human spirit. It took me into the world of politics, Hollywood, and black fiction and I got see up close and personal all the games that are played out on a day to day basis. The secondary characters held just as much importance as the first and what I expected to happen, didn't, which is just how life often works. "Emotions" was a refreshing break from the run of the mill stories out there and I look forward to more from this author.
Rating: Summary: Never Say Never Review: McCann's, latest novel, Emotions will take you through a range of just that. I was angry, sad, happy and jumping for joy in the same story. The few encounters between Joi, a former actress and now housewife, and Michael, a struggling writer living in his father's shadow, turns out to be a complicated mess with life-altering effects. This story is engaging and filled with surprises. The relationships between Joi and her husband, brother and father were realistic and at times painful. I adored Mike's eye-opening relationship with Ani, his literary partner-in-crime. They made an unlikely pair but brought out the best in each other. However, I often felt like I was reading two different novels. I think Mike and Joi's stories could have stood on their own without even meeting each other. This was still a good read (as with all of McCann's work) but I felt the piece that tied Joi and Mike together was left out of the puzzle. If you are a fan of McCann's work, then I would definitely add this to your summer reading list. Reviewed by Nicole APOOO Bookclub
Rating: Summary: Enjoyable Review: Not quite the chip off the old block would best describe the writing skills of Michael Brockmeier II. Cursed with the same name as his father, a famous writer, Michael decides to follow in his father's footsteps. The unfortunate part is that he does not have the same talent everyone expects him to possess. Enter, Ani, a recluse writer, who wants no part of the fame and fortune of the literary world. She and Michael concoct a deceptive scheme that will give them both satisfaction. Joi has starred in Hollywood for a number of years and is now living in Florida with her husband and supporting his political career. There are terrible problems in this marriage, but Joi continually confesses that she loves her husband and wants her marriage to last. Though they led distinctively separate lives, a chance encounter brings Michael and Joi together. There is an attraction between the two of them that keeps drawing them together. Things happen that will change their lives forever. Michael's story was very interesting and could have stood on its own, because Joi could have been anyone. There is a good cross of narration and dialogue that makes the story flow well and gives the reader the inside track about what makes Michael and Joi tick. I think this is one of Tim McCann's best work. This is one I would recommend for your summer reading. Jeanette Wallington APOOO Bookclub
