Rating: Summary: It's a Train Going in Circles Review: If ever there was a book that started off with so much promise, "Down There by the Train" by Kate Sterns is it. To bad that it never delivers. I found it trying way hard to figure out just what kind of book it wanted to be. Ms Sterns use descriptive lines that seem to have come out of those old sixties era detective novels. Than there are phrases and name that seem to be trying to drawn you back to a Victorian time. She has several story lines linked together only by death and the inability to deal with that fate. I found that I couldn't quite learn to like any character due to their lack of true human emotion. In the end you are left with a lot of under developed characters and story lines going no where. It really is too bad, because potential for a great novel is there.
