Review: The relationships and flow of time in this book are so relevant to families of this twentieth century era-like an abbreviated saga. The dialogue, the pain, the inner workings of marriage are so engaging that I could not put the book down. Ann Tyler has a way of capturing relationship with insight and precision. She is like a seer exposing the combination of admired and hated characteristics within each individual-which is just real life, expressed better in this page turner.

Review: This is a well written book about marriage. Any married person can relate to some aspect of one of the characters. The book takes you through the couple's whole life and gives you both sides of the story so to speak. I really enjoyed it and think all married persons should read it.
