Rating: Summary: Women who live and love, cry and laugh Review: A delicious book about friends, their lovers and family. All of us can relate to the aches and pains, joys and fun of friends who grow together, learn together and stick together through it all. The author proves, once again, how important friends and family are in all our lives. Pass it on to all who share your life.
Rating: Summary: Real women, having fun and living life! Review: A girlfriend gave me this book and I picked it up after the last episode of 'Sex and the City'...the cover makes it look like it might be like that...and it is, but different -- in a good way!...the women are more real, with real lives and real concerns...Holly Chamberlin is funny and the Boston setting is fresh and lively...anyway, I gobbled it up and it almost made the pain of losing Carrie and her gang go away!
Rating: Summary: the smiles and strains of living single Review: A handsome man in his mid-40s once told me he had to act fast to find a mate as he "became more invisible every year." I thought, "Imagine how women must feel!" Holly Chamberlin gets at the pain and pleasure of living single in her charming first novel, filled with the insights and the fizzy energy of trying to land a guy in a cruel present where the unattached go to the back of the line. Recommended for a long weekend when turning on ET or opening Vogue is the last thing you want to do.
Rating: Summary: A Realistic Romp Through the Life of a Single Woman Review: Chamberlin's novel precisely blends actual reality with fictional fun! In contrast with other books of this genre (the "Bridget Jones"-ish chick-flick book), the characters seem well developed, have realistic thoughts and goals, and participate in actual daily activities. Enough thought has gone into the process of writing the novel so that there's some meat on the bones of this baby--takes more than a day to read it, which, to me, means it's not as insignificant or disposable as other young-single-women's books tend to be. I'm thoroughly gobbling up this book and coaching the heroine as she missteps through her life! Also intriguing is its up-to-date approach to the plotline--this is the first novel I've read with a reference to September 11th. A wonderful read...it will be well-worn by the time it cycles through my circle of friends.

Rating: Summary: Not enough substance Review: Even for the chick lit genre, this book lacked substance. The entire book consisted of conversations in chic Boston locations - all the author did was tell us what happened. I never got to "know" any of the characters and was left feeling hollow. This wasn't as fun as I'd hoped. I would only recommend it if it's on sale.
Rating: Summary: Fun, Fun Fun Living Single is a Fun Read & Look Inside Review: Finally a FUN read for women who are not 70+++ Well, maybe single guys should read it too and learn a few clues. We have all been there only Living Single is more fun and true than Sex in the City....I mean it's not always as glamourous as HBO but Chamberlin at least makes it entertaining AND real.If you are sick of Carrie and friends----read this now! And feel good about being Single or having once been with good friends.
Rating: Summary: Sex and a Different City Review: Holly Chamberlin's hip debut novel has all the essential chick lit elements: gabby girlfriends, can't trust 'em boyfriends, fashion, cocktails, gossip, advice, and a glamorous urban backdrop. After reading (and writing) my share of women's fiction set in Manhattan, I found that the Boston setting in Living Single was a nice change of pace. But this novel is universal in the sense that women everywhere, urban and not, single and not, will be able to relate to Erin and her friends. Holly Chamberlin's dialogue rings as true as everything else in this tale--this is how real women talk, and feel, and behave. Though the characters crave coupledom, ultimately, this is a worthy celebration of living single.
Rating: Summary: Very easy and entertaining read Review: I am typically the type of reader that prefers more pictures than words so I was quite pleasantly surprised when I found myself drawn to this book. Being a Bostonian myself, I enjoyed the description of the Boston surroundings; more importantly, I really enjoyed reading this book and had a hard time putting the book down before I finished the book. Not exactly 'Sex and the City' but I highly recommend this book for leisure readings.
Rating: Summary: An author to watch Review: I highly recommend this book. Once you start it, you won't put it down. I'm anxiously waiting to read her next novel.
